Lot of Two (2) Halfstock Percussion Pennsylvania Plains Rifles, by James Henry & Son of Boulton: 1) NVSN, .36 cal., 32.25" octagonal barrel marked "J. Henry/& Son". Flat lockplate has same markings, double set triggers. Iron fittings, 2 oval copper barrel key escutcheons, pewter nose cap, 2 copper ferrules on under-rib, lacks ramrod. Walnut stock has graceful "perch belly", raised cheekpiece. Condition is good, retaining traces of what seems to be barrel blue, else generally smooth dark-gray gunmetal with pitting at nipple and trigger guard, good edges and markings. Stock has large "S" carved (with filler) at left, repaired 4" break with 2.25" filler at forend, wood loss above lock, shows age and use. Action and triggers work as designed, bore appears clean with very good rifling. 2) NVSN, .36 cal., 38" heavy (perhaps #3) octagonal barrel (generally smooth dark brown) is marked "J. Henry/& Son", lacks front sight. A project gun, consisting of original barrel and walnut stock, brass nose cap and 2 oval barrel key escutcheons, iron crescent buttplate, 2 iron ferrules on under-rib and plain hickory ramrod (needs cutting to correct length). Stock has significant cracks, losses, wood patch in lock cavity (but unfinished). Includes modern lock, double set triggers unit, unfinished 9.75" iron trigger guard and 33.5" octagonal barrel marked "Jukar Spain". Original bore shows light roughness, very good rifling.
