Royal Enfield Crusader Sports

Royal Enfield was the brand name under which The Enfield Cycle Company Limited of Redditch, Worcestershire, sold motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines which they had manufactured. Enfield Cycle Company also used the brand name Enfield without Royal. The first Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901. The Enfield Cycle Company is responsible for the design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest living motorcycle design in history. The 250cc class was important in the UK as it was the largest engine which a learner could ride without passing a test. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Royal Enfield produced a number of 250cc machines, including a racer, a Scrambler with the biggest-seller being the Crusader, a 248cc pushrod overhead valve single producing 18bhp. This matching numbers motorcycle is a project that needs completing although we are advised she requires not too much work to finish her. A box of spares is supplied as is a workshop manual and owners handbook. The bike is supplied with a V5C registration document confirming the registration number SHM 834 is transferrable if required, together with a number of invoices confirming recent work carried out.]]

Range Rover Classic

The first generation Range Rover was produced between 1970 and 1996 and while certainly upmarket compared to preceding Land Rover models was not designed as a luxury type 4x4; the early Range Rovers had basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power-assisted steering, carpeted floors; air-conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. The original Range Rover utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four wheel drive and four wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. This very early four door was initially built in Solihull between 15th and 25th February 1982 and was despatched to Appleyard Farm Services Ltd, Ripon, Yorkshire, on 1st March. It was first registered on 11th November 1982 and is still on its original registration plate, all documented with accompanying BHIHT Heritage Certificate. Presented in Sahara Dust with Bronze Teddy Bear trim, the interior is completely original including rather unusually, the headlining. Having been Ziebart rust proofed from new, the condition is exceptional with the original Ziebart sticker still in the rear window. Recent maintenance includes new rear shock absorbers, exhaust, fuel pump, under bonnet soundproofing and OEM radiator and it was also fitted with a Fairey overdrive unit which is functioning correctly. Documentation accompanying the vehicle includes a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019, correspondence from BL Cars Limited regarding the Supercover warranty, sales brochure, original handbook, radio instructions, and sales invoice from the Land Rover Centre Huddersfield, in 2006, showing 38,771 miles, plus supporting MoT test history to verify the current mileage of 57,600. One of the best examples we have come across and certainly worthy of the 'Classic' badge.]]

Bentley Mk.VI Special by Padgett

Padgett Motor Engineering was established in 1957 in Newbury, Berkshire by Alan Padgett. Alan was apprenticed as a motor mechanic in York during World War Two until his conscription in 1946 and served in the Royal Air Force in the Far East. By 1949 he was back in England and, having finished his apprenticeship, started working part time on motor vehicle repairs including vintage cars. In 1954, now married, he and his wife moved to Newbury, Berkshire. Alan was involved with racing Bentleys after selling his first vintage car (a 12/40 Lea Francis) and buying a 1926 Speed Model 3 Litre and from 1954 he worked part time with Tony Townshend at Whittonditch works to gain essential experience. By 1964 a newly emerged class of post-war Bentleys were well known in racing, the Mk Vl sports and racing 'special'. The Bradley Brothers were the first to take this route and must be given full credit for such foresight. Padgett’s first design, which proved to be popular, was built with a modified chassis design, moving the engine and transmission rearwards creating the traditional sporting lines of a Bentley sports car, thereby setting a trend that has survived to this day. This ever improving class of sports car paved the way for another style of Bentley to get the headlines. The Bentley R-Type Continental Sports Saloon, upgraded to Rally Specification, of which some 12 have been rebuilt, proved to be the most highly sought after Bentley of any genre. Jeremy Padgett eventually took over full control of the business in 1995 when his father retired, after 54 years as a motor engineer. This attractive two seater Bentley Mk. VI (Big Bore) Special with split screen ‘V’ windscreen and rounded tail was one of the first specials built by Alan Padgett in 1969. The previous owner purchased the special in 1976 from Harry J. Sibley, a Rolls-Royce specialist based in Cornwall and, to aid the purchase, he told his wife that the car had extra wide seating capable of accommodating two adults and two small children. The only changes made to the car were in 1977 when he had an outside handbrake and a new external stainless steel exhaust system fitted. Much later he changed the polarity to negative earth and fitted electronic ignition. This Mk. VI Special changed hands in 2016 and has been in a private collection ever since. Finished in the traditional British Racing Green with brown leather interior, this beautiful Bentley Special is supplied with a V5C registration document, copies of old registration documents going back to Alan Padgett’s ownership in 1969, a number of old MoT test certificates, the bill of sale from 1976 and items of correspondence including a letter from Padgett. Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

The sight of rival manufacturers reaping the rewards of a successful circuit racing programme prompted Ford to renew its alliance with engine builder, Cosworth, to create the Sierra. Assembly of the minimum 5,000 units required for Group A homologation commenced in June 1986 at the company's Genk plant in Belgium. Based on the three door Sierra bodyshell, the RS Cosworth combined the standard 1,993cc Pinto engine's cylinder block with a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, the first time the latter combination had been seen in a production Ford engine. Topping it off was a Cosworth developed, twin camshaft, 16 valve cylinder head fed by a Garrett AiResearch turbocharger, the latter being deemed necessary to achieve a competitive power output for racing, which in time would amount to over 500bhp! Even in standard road trim, the Sierra RS Cosworth produced a staggering 204bhp, its Weber-Marelli engine management system ensuring that the resulting stupendous performance was delivered with minimal turbo-lag. Needless to say, the standard Sierra underpinnings were comprehensively uprated to cope. 6,021 examples had been completed when production ceased in 1992, and today the model is highly sought after.With, remarkably, just one owner from new, this example of Ford’s flagship Sierra, the RS Cosworth, is offered in black coachwork and original grey Ford trim and is accompanied by a comprehensive 30 year service history. Originally purchased and registered on 23rd April 1987, this example has been serviced by our vendor’s local garage, Byfleet Ford, every year since new. All receipts and invoices are included in the history file together with the original order form, MoT valid until July 2019 and UK V5C registration document. Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is a two-door grand touring convertible with a removable hardtop that was produced between May 1955 and February 1963 with a prototype first shown at the 1954 New York Motor Show. It was sold alongside the faster, more expensive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL which it closely resembled both in its styling, engineering, detailing and fully independent suspension. However, the 190 SL did not use the 300 SL's purpose-built tubular space frame W198 platform but was built on a shortened monocoque R121 unit. The 190 SL was powered by a new 1.9 litre straight-four SOHC engine that developed 104bhp and was later also used in the W120, 180 and W121, 190 models. The four-cylinder engine block of the 190 SL was based on the six- cylinder engine of the 300 SL.  This Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was manufactured in 1960 and first registered in the UK on 20th June 1967. Having been stored in a barn in Spain for 20 years, she is in need of restoration although we are advised the engine turns over. This left hand drive example is finished in cream with red interior and is accompanied by a history folder. These stylish 60s sportscars are revered wherever they are seen.]]

Ferrari 550 Maranello

The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a two seat grand tourer manufactured from 1996 and is powered by a front engined V12. It shared its platform and 5,474cc engine with the 456 but was positioned as the company's high-end model. Featuring a luxurious and spacious interior and, unusually for a Ferrari, the boot could accommodate a set of golf clubs. The 550 has a tubular steel frame chassis with light aluminium bodywork. Power steering is variable assist and, to be expected of a car with this performance, disc brakes are fitted all round. Acceleration is an impressive 4.2 seconds 0 to 60mph and top speed a reported 199mph. In total, 3,083 Ferrari 550's were produced. This Ferrari 550 Maranello was originally supplied by Glenvarigill Company Ltd in Edinburgh on 1st October 1998. A well stamped service book accompanies this Ferrari and a fine collection of invoices, the last of which confirms the car was last serviced by Fosker Engineering Ltd on 24th November 2017 at a cost of £3,229.97 which included a full service and the fitting of replacement cambelts. Finished in silver with black leather trim and fitted with the desirable manual gearbox, we are advised this 550 drives well. Supplied with a V5C registration document and the original service books, this right hand drive Ferrari is estimated competitively and could well be a car for the future.]]

Jaguar XKR Convertible (5.0 litre)

The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the XJ-S. Two body styles were produced, a coupé and a convertible and the car was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar's newly developed V8 engine. In 2000, the supercharged XKR was added to the range. This produced a staggering 503 horsepower, a subtle rear spoiler, wire mesh front grille and red exterior emblems were identifying features. The XKR's engine was made in England, the ignition system was from NGK in Japan, the transmission was a Mercedes-Benz 722.6, the lighting system was by Valeo in France and the supercharger was made by Eaton in the USA, it was truly a world car. The redesigned XK was styled by Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum of Aston Martin fame. The standard XK model has a limited top speed of 158mph whilst the XKR had a limited top speed of 174mph. This 5.0 litre, XKR convertible was first registered on 9th July 2010 and has had just two former keepers. The black paintwork of this impressive example is in excellent order and the cream leather interior unmarked; all of this is complimented by Piano Black wood and brushed aluminium switch gear resulting in a delightful cockpit ambiance and offering a truly memorable driving experience. Bentley Turbo R

Manufactured from 1985 to 1997 with a total of 7,230 built in the 12 year production period, the Bentley Turbo R was a high performance luxury vehicle built at Crewe. The ‘R’ stood for ‘Roadholding’ to set it apart from its predecessor, the Mulsanne and also sported a revised suspension with wider tyres on alloy wheels, a first for a Bentley. The suspension changes, although seemingly subtle, transformed the soft and less than well-controlled ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer. This was achieved by increasing the anti-roll bar rates in the front and rear and by increasing the damping. A Panhard rod to anchor the rear suspension was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. The Turbo R was sold alongside the Mulsanne Turbo for a short time although the Mulsanne was taken out of production in 1985. For the 1987 model year, the Turbo R received anti-lock brakes and Bosch fuel injection replacing the Solex carburettors. This Turbo R is finished in the delightful colour combination of Midnight Blue with parchment interior, piped in blue and with blue carpets. Originally registered on 1st August 1990 and supplied by Appleyard in Rippon, this well looked after Bentley has 21 stamps in the service books. The interior of a Bentley is an area of beauty with lots of space, leather and walnut. Benefitting from later type alloy wheels, this Bentley has spent some of the latter years in Ireland although was repatriated around two years ago. Also fitted with a sporty mesh grille, a badge bar and new front tyres this Bentley is supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate, together with the original handbooks, this Turbo R represents superb value for money.]]

The suspension changes, although seemingly subtle, transformed the soft and less than well-controlled ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer. This was achieved by increasing the anti-roll bar rates in the front and rear and by increasing the damping. A Panhard rod to anchor the rear suspension was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. The Turbo R was sold alongside the Mulsanne Turbo for a short time although the Mulsanne was taken out of production in 1985. For the 1987 model year, the Turbo R received anti-lock brakes and Bosch fuel injection replacing the Solex carburettors. This Turbo R is finished in the delightful colour combination of Midnight Blue with parchment interior, piped in blue and with blue carpets. Originally registered on 1st August 1990 and supplied by Appleyard in Rippon, this well looked after Bentley has 21 stamps in the service books. The interior of a Bentley is an area of beauty with lots of space, leather and walnut. Benefitting from later type alloy wheels, this Bentley has spent some of the latter years in Ireland although was repatriated around two years ago. Triumph Stag

Stylish, fast and practical, the Stag began life as a Triumph 2000-based styling exercise by Italian carrossier Giovanni Michelotti. A 2+2 convertible, Michelotti's design featured a quad-lamp grille and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000's six cylinder engine had been replaced by a three litre V8. A padded, 'T' shaped roll bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stag's most distinctive features and the model could be had in soft top, hard top, or soft with hardtop formats. Motor Sport described the Stag's interior as, 'well appointed, having all the usual instrumentation one would expect in a high performance car.'This lovely black on black Triumph Stag was first registered on 9th November 1973 and presents very well. The 1987 Lotus Esprit benefitted from a far reaching restyle by Peter Stevens. Out went many of the sharp lines, to be replaced by a more organic aero look. It worked, too - the Esprit certainly looked like a contemporary product when launched, and still looks timeless today. There was a little more power and a little more weight, but overall the Esprit experience was uncorrupted by the update. The Citroën SM gearbox was replaced by a Renault GTA unit, along with outboard rear brakes. The interior for both cars was revised and featured new trim; combined with changes to the body moulds this resulted in more headroom and an enlarged foot well. This attractive Lotus presents well in black with a black and yellow interior. The vendor informs us that this Lotus was stored in a dehumidified garage. One of the few trips out the car has had recently was to the official Lotus heritage repair centre ‘Esprit Engineering' in Wiltshire who did a significant amount of servicing work. In 1961, Colin Chapman was commissioned by Harry Mundy to design a twin cam version of the Ford Kent engine and its first appearance was at the Nürburgring in a Lotus 23 driven by Jim Clark. Soon after, the engine appeared in the Lotus Elan. During the engine's development, Walter Hayes at Ford asked Colin Chapman to fit the twin cam into 1,000 Ford saloons for Group Two racing homologation. Chapman accepted the contract and the type 28, or Lotus Cortina as it became known, was born. Whilst Ford supplied the two door body shells and took care of the marketing, Lotus engineered the mechanical and cosmetic changes which included the 1,558cc engine along with the Elan's close-ratio gearbox, front quarter bumpers and Lotus badges. This stunning example has been comprehensively and sympathetically upgraded to a ‘fast road’ specification. During the 80’s the car was substantially remanufactured using a new bodyshell but retaining its distinctive Lotus components. The engine was rebuilt by noted specialists Twincam Techniques and engineered to accept the larger 45 DHLA Dellorto carburettors. Equipped with oversize valves, competition valve springs and Burton hi-lift camshafts, we are informed this car develops in excess of 140 bhp. A comprehensive document book accompanies the car and containing the full ownership history, FIA paperwork and invoices from the rebuild. Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, along with the 300 SL, made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes-Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The impression given by the 190 SL, alongside the bigger 300 SL, was neat, sporty and with dashing lines. This was the trait of Mercedes-Benz designers Karl Wilfret and Walter Hacket. Despite opinions, the statistics tell their own tale as between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced - it was a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two Solex 44PHH carburettors, delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era. The body was a monocoque design, welded to the shortened chassis of the type 180 saloon. A racing version with aluminium doors and a small windscreen was never produced although these parts could be ordered from the Factory for weekend racing.  This left hand drive Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was restored by SLS Hamburg in 2014 and as such still presents in excellent order today. The gleaming black coachwork is virtually unmarked and the contrasting red leather interior delightful. This 190 SL also benefits from having a hardtop. These super stylish sportscars from the 60s are head turners wherever they appear and an example as good as this, certainly stands out from the crowd. Tri-B.S.A 500 (circa 1954)

The Tribsa, or Tri-B.S.A was a custom built cafe racer or off road motorcycle of the 1960s and 1970s. Its name was an elision of ‘Triumph’ and ‘BSA’ and the purpose was to combine the best elements of each marque to give a superior bike to either. A Tribsa involved a Triumph parallel twin engine installed in BSA motorcycle frame. Although both the BSA A65 and the Triumph twin engines were overhead valve units, only the Triumph had twin camshafts which facilitated tuning for greater power output. The BSA frame was a duplex-cradle design which was considered stiffer and stronger than the Triumph's single downtube item hence the best of both and Tribsa was built experimentally at Meriden by Triumph in 1973 using surplus BSA A65 frames which led to a ‘factory Tribsa’ which was to use the BSA A65 frames. Not many of these hybrids were produced and factory records are vague. This Tribsa has been estimated as a 1954 built motorcycle, BSA records show the frame was manufactured from 1954-1959 and Triumph records show the engine was manufactured between 1953 and 1954. The motorcycle is described as being in good original condition, although she will require tuning due to lack of use. The vendor seems to think the bike was raced in the 1957 Isle of Man TT although has no supporting evidence to confirm this. In motorcycling terms the name Metisse was born in 1959 when scrambling brothers Derek and Don Rickman built and successfully raced a machine made up of a BSA frame and gearbox, a Triumph 500cc engine and Norton forks. This was to be the beginning of a line of successful off-road racers, road racers and street bikes. Built on a combination of passion for motorcycles and innovative engineering, the machines from the small factory in New Milton, Hampshire found their way to winners circles all over the world. In 1966 the film star Steve McQueen bought a Triumph engine Metisse to compete in desert races in the U.S.A and described it as ‘the best handling bike I’ve ever owned’. This Steve McQueen desert racer is based on the Metisse Mk. III that has been the class-winning off road motorcycle since the 1960’s. She presents well in sumptuous shade of dark green. The engine is a two-cylinder, two valves per cylinder, pushrod V-twin and it was produced from 1957 until 1985 until replaced by the Evolution engine in 1986. Greeves TS Trials 250

The company founded by Bert Greeves ,MBE soon after WW2 was the same Invacar company that won a major contract to provide motorised, three-wheeled, invalid carriage vehicles to the UK Government Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance. The invalid carriages sold well and established a firm foundation for the factory, based in Essex. The factory possessed its own foundry and very soon, became expert in the new technology of fibreglass moulding. As a keen trials rider, Bert Greeves soon indulged his interest and started to build motorcycles for trials and scrambles and in 1954, a roadster joined the range. Using Villiers or British Anzani engines and suspension based on the invalid cars' rubber units, the frames illustrated another Greeves innovation. In place of the normal tubular front section and steering head was a single enormously strong aluminium alloy H-section beam. This Greeves TS Trials bike presents in very good condition after being restored although she does require a little recommissioning due to lack of use. Supplied with an official dating certificate and a V5C registration document, this 250cc motorcycle looks to be attractively estimated given the condition and rarity of this motorcycle.]]

The Matchless G12 was produced by Associated Motorcycles at the former Matchless works in Plumstead, London. Developed in 1958 specifically to capture the potentially lucrative US market, it was one of the last motorcycles made under the Matchless name. It was also produced as the AJS Model 31 by the same company. Designer Phil Walker knew that it had to be a 650cc but wanted to use as many parts from the Model 11 as possible. The cylinders could not be bored out further so the stroke was lengthened from 72.8 to 79.3mm resulting in a capacity of 646cc. This meant developing a new crankshaft and primary chaincase which also provided the opportunity to add a Lucas alternator.  This Matchless was restored a few years ago and still presents in nice order today. We are advised by the vendor that she runs well and is a good starter. These handsome bikes with their semi-chromed fuel tanks are a testament to a once thriving British motorcycle industry. The 6T Thunderbird was launched publicly at Montlhéry near Paris in 1949 where three standard-production bikes were ridden around a circuit by a team of riders who between them averaged a speed of 92mph over a distance of 500 miles. All three machines were ridden to the circuit and back to the Meriden factory. Triumph obtained further lasting publicity with Marlon Brando's 1953 motion picture ‘The Wild One’, in which he rode a 1950 6T Thunderbird. In the book ‘Triumph Motorcycles in America’, there is a letter reproduced from Triumph's importers to the producers objecting to the use of their machine in this film about rowdy motorcycle gangs. From 1960, the Thunderbird acquired Turner's rear fairing nicknamed the 'bathtub' on account of its shape; a feature which was quickly dropped in the USA market but remained in ever-abbreviated forms for the home market before disappearing altogether for the final year of production, 1966. Before then in 1963, the Thunderbird, along with Triumph's other 650cc models, was given the Turner-designed unit engine. Throughout this time, however, the Thunderbird retained its distinctive nacelle. This handsome motorcycle, with the smaller rear mudguard, is a matching numbers example and appears to be pretty original. Vespa 400 Luxe

The Vespa 400 is a rear engined microcar, produced by ACMA in Fourchambault, France, from 1957 to 1961 to the designs of the Italian Piaggio company. Three different versions were sold, the Luxe, Tourisme and GT. The car made its high profile public debut on 26th September 1957 at a press presentation staged in Monaco. The 400 was a two seater car with room behind the seats to accommodate luggage or two small children on an optional cushion. The front seats were simple tubular metal frames with cloth upholstery on elastic 'springs' and between the seats were the handbrake, starter and choke. The gear change was centrally floor mounted. The rear hinged doors were coated on the inside with only a thin plastic lining attached to the metal door panel skin allowing valuable extra internal space. The cabriolet fabric roof could be rolled back from the windscreen header rail to the top of the rear engine cover leaving conventional metal sides above the doors. The 12 volt battery was located at the front of the car, behind the dummy front grille, on a shelf that could be slid out. The spare wheel was stowed in a well under the passenger seat. Vespa is known around the world for its scooters, but few people may know it produced one economy car. The company’s president felt that FIAT’s prominence in Italy should not be challenged, so the Vespa 400 was produced in France. This wonderful little car is presented in great condition having been restored over a two year period between 2015 and 2017, after it was found abandoned in a barn in Liguria in Italy. Every effort was made to source the missing parts and restore it to as much its original condition as possible. The car comes with a new engine, clutch, interior, brakes and tyres, it also comes with the original French documentation. This is a rare car and to find one restored to this level is a delight. Surely this will turn heads wherever it is driven due to its cute desirability.]]

Land Rover Defender 90 - ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’

In a modern take on the classic television serial in the 1960s, CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin are forced to put aside longstanding hostilities and team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organisation that is bent on destabilising the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe. The action sequences are superb and this Guy Ritchie directed action extravaganza represents, as you would expect, a relentless parade of cars, helicopters, motorbikes and planes in superbly choreographed stunts.One such vehicle is the petrol V8 powered Land Rover Defender 90 presented here. During the film, it is disguised with an earlier Series III front but the underpinnings are definitely 1991. It also benefits from a full exterior roll cage and 'Old Man Emu Suspension', especially designed in Australia for superior performance across all terrain. We are informed that this ex-MoD Land Rover was initially acquired by Warner Brothers in 2012 and modified by Alex King, the picture vehicle coordinator of Dena Films, for a number of sequences in the 2015 film, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Presented in great condition with an MoT test certificate valid until January 2019, this is, quite simply, great fun and a fabulous collector’s car for fans of the film or indeed Land Rovers.]]

Renault 5TX Cleveland Convertible

The Renault 5 was launched onto the right hand drive UK market in the autumn of 1972, where, alongside the recently launched Fiat 127, it competed as an imported but more modern alternative to British Leyland's Mini and Chrysler Europe's Hillman Imp. The 5 narrowly missed out on the 1973 European Car of the Year award, which was instead given to the Audi 80. The R5 borrowed mechanicals from the similarly popular Renault 4, using a longitudinally-mounted engine driving the front wheels with torsion bar suspension. OHV engines were borrowed from the Renault 4 and larger Renault 8; there was a choice, at launch, between 782cc and 956cc according to price level. The 5TS and 5LS both with the 1,289cc engine from the Renault 12 was added from April 1974. As on the Renault 4, entry level Renault 5’s had their engine sizes increased to 845cc in 1976 and at the top of the range later models had the engine sizes expanded to 1,397cc. The Renault 5 went on to enjoy cult status when the turbo and rear engine Group B derived Maxi cars were introduced. The car offered on sale here is an incredibly rare convertible R5 TX, believed to be a Cleveland conversion. Renault never produced a convertible R5 themselves but Cleveland offered the service and later in 1989 the Belgium firm EBS. The Clevelandbodywork incorporates a sturdy roll-over bar and chassis strengthening members. All exposed metal areas were fully treated and rust proofed before final assembly. The opening boot, combined with folding rear seats, provided access to a generous luggage space. The rear parcel shelf facilitates the neat stowage of the hood and provides extra space when the hood is raised. It can be raised and lowered by one person in just a few moments. This car has benefitted from a recent bare metal respray in its attractive metallic blue. The interior is in incredible condition for a car of its age and shows little sign of wear. The TX models were the top specification for the R5 range; including power steering, electric windows and alloy wheels. Having covered 75,000 miles this car offers a unique opportunity to acquire a truly rare car and one you would be lucky to see another example of. Rover P5B Saloon

In 1965, Rover's Managing Director, William Martin-Hurst, secured the tooling and production rights to the '215' V8 engine from Buick. Rover redeveloped the engine and launched it at the end of 1967 which, along with some other modifications, transformed their already highly regarded and successful P5 flagship into the P5B. The new aluminium V8 was significantly lighter and considerably more powerful than its predecessor, delivering 160bhp and a massive leap in torque to 210lb per ft at 2600rpm, vastly improving pace, comfort, balance, handling, economy and reliability. Rover's only gearbox capable of handling such power was the Borg Warner Type-35 automatic. Rover now possessed a formidable sporting saloon to take on the finest from Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar. Solihull production soon doubled to keep up with orders; however the creation of British Leyland in 1968 had the long term effect of thwarting Rover’s impressive growth and image-building. A strategic decision was taken to market Jaguar, now sitting alongside Rover in the British Leyland stable, to the luxury audience. The impressive V8 engine flourished for decades afterwards within the Rover, Land Rover and Range Rover stable, as well as other marques such as TVR, Morgan and MG.Originally registered on 1st August 1969, this car was purchased by a Mr Freeman in Leicester, who ordered it in Bordeaux Red with Ebony Black leather. Mr Freeman owned and used SUT 154H sparingly from new until he passed away in 1985, whereupon his daughter had the car stored until selling it to the current owner Mr Oxley in Derbyshire in 1986. Due to an exceptional level of care, having been stored correctly and owned by Rover enthusiasts, the car has covered just 10,424 miles from new and the original factory panel work remains in extremely good order; indeed the doors shut like a new car. The car is accompanied by the original book pack, a V5C registration document, full complement of tools, old MOT’s and a current MoT test certificate valid until August 2018.Used by government ministers and royalty on a regular basis, these quintessentially British Rovers are supremely comfortable to drive with a simple and uncluttered instrument layout where virtually everything is at your finger tips. Ferrari 308 GTS QV

The 308 GTB was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1975, it was built alongside the 308 GT4 and designed as a replacement for the 246 Dino. Designed by Leonardo Fiorvanti, the man who styled some of the most iconic Ferrari's including the Daytona. The new 308 sported a rakish and attractive body which fused classic elements of Ferrari styling with a thoroughly modern design. For the first two years of production, the body of the 308 was produced in fibreglass after which steel was used. The 308 shared a similar tube frame chassis as the original Dino and 308GT4 with four-wheel double wishbone independent suspension. The engine was a V8 unit which was positioned behind the driver and transversely mounted with double overhead camshafts and four 40DCNF Weber carburettors, later replaced with Bosch K Jetronic mechanical fuel injection. At the 1982 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari launched the 308 Quattrovalvole, in GTB and GTS form. The main change from the 308 GTBi/GTSi it succeeded, were the four valves per cylinder which pushed output back up to 240hp restoring some of the performance lost to the emission control equipment. The interior also received some minor updates such as a satin black three spoke steering wheel with triangular centre; cloth seat centres became available as an option to the standard full leather. This left hand drive 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, presented in Rosso Corsa with Nero leather interior, has recently been the subject to having over £24,000 spent on it by marque specialists QV London and Joe Macari. This work included rebuilding the gearbox, new clutch, carrying out a full engine service including cambelts, new H/T leads and new sub frame mounts. The brakes have been fully overhauled, the radiator was removed and reconditioned and new tyres were fitted. At the same time, the under fairing and rear bumper was repaired and repainted. This 308 GTS QV is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019 together with copies of the invoices for the recent work carried out. The GTS is the popular choice due to the Targa roof which, when removed, provides the occupants with the thrill of open top motoring at high speed whilst listening to the howl of the Ferrari V8 engine.]]

Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Coupé (4.2 litre)

The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only in March 1961, the cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted, 3.8 litre six cylinder XK engine from the XK150S. The 3.8 litre engine was increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964, although there was never a fixed specification for this unofficial model, the Series I½, can be recognised by glass covered headlights, small 'mouth' opening at the front, signal and tail lights above the bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear. The 4.2 litre engine offered increased power and usability whilst retaining the same outward appearance as the earlier cars. This rare Jaguar is one of 974 right hand drive Series I 2+2 coupés ever made. This beauty from Coventry had a full body refurbishment with Andy Marshall of Mansfield in 2015 and presents stunningly in red. The original interior is in good order and shows a lovely patina. We are informed by the vendor that this E-Type runs well and sounds wonderful. This car benefits from uprated Fossway brakes with vented discs. Durant Runabout Star Four Tourer

Having been forced out of General Motors – a company he founded – William C Durant began rebuilding his automotive empire, incorporating Durant Motors in New York in January 1921. Competing with the mid-priced Chevrolet, the company's first product was the 35hp four-cylinder Model A, which was joined the following year by the 70hp six-cylinder B-22. Built in the former Sheridan plant at Muncie, Indiana and powered by an Ansted engine, the B-22 was catalogued for just three years (1922-1924) and today survivors are rare. In 1922, Durant introduced the Star, intended as competition for the Ford Model T, and later that year acquired the bankrupt Locomobile, which gained him entry into the luxury car market sector. Following the General Motors policy of offering cars in every price bracket, Durant continued to expand, introducing the Chrysler-competitor Flint in 1923 and establishing the Mason Truck Company. Like many of his contemporaries, Durant was crippled by the Wall Street Crash of October 1929. Production plummeted and despite receiving approximately $90 million of its owner's own money, Durant Motors was gone by 1933. This Durant Runabout has had an interesting life having been converted to a pick-up at some stage; she was then re-bodied into the Tourer format we see today. This right hand drive Durant has VSCC documents and is eligible for hills climbs which the vendor has used her for. These two-seaters with a Dickie seat are great cars and quite versatile, hence the popularity in using them for eligible events.
