***Auction Highlight*** 1907 TOP POP Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms68 By SEGS (fc)

Lot # 96 (Sale Order: 78 of 720)

***Auction Highlight*** 1907 TOP POP Gold Liberty Half Eagle $5 Graded ms68 By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION – Up for Auction is a TOP POP Tied for Finest ...moreKnown, None Finer, Spectacular 1907 $5 Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle Graded ms68, near perfection. The 1907 Liberty Head half eagle was produced in a nominal amount of 626,100 circulation strikes plus 92 proof coins, and it is widely available in lower Mint State grades. The average mint state example grades a tad higher than MS62, at which level most are attractive and lustrous, well-produced but a bit banged up from coin-to-coin contact, as a rule. The 1907 Liberty Head (and the 1907-D and 1908 of the same design) seem anachronistic to collectors today, as it was, of course, the year that Augustus Saint-Gaudens' stunning new designs for the ten and twenty dollar denominations came to numismatic awareness. It would be 1908, however, before Bela Pratt's sunken-relief (intaglio or coelanaglyptic) designs for the quarter eagle and half eagle would debut. All this gives the late Liberty Head coinage a special fondness in collectors' hearts. The present piece will definitely quicken those hearts as well, as the finest certified of the issue It is impossible to single out which criterion is the most blatantly appealing -- the sharp strike, the flowing, caramel-gold color, the immaculate preservation? -- but one glance will tell collectors all they need to know. I have included another ms68, which is currently listed on collectors corner for sale at $63,750. If you look at that example, please note the discoloration by the date and the bumpiness on the rim. I think ours is clearly finer. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation

1936 Norfolk Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades GEM++ Unc

Lot # 98 (Sale Order: 80 of 720)

1936 Norfolk Old Commem Half Dollar 50c Grades GEM++ Unc. The 1936 Norfolk Bicentennial Half Dollar was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the establishment ...moreof Norfolk, Virginia as a borough. Both the obverse and reverse of the coins carry incredibly voluminous number of inscriptions, which dominate the design. At the center of the obverse is a reproduction of the Norfolk City Seal, which carries a ship plow and stocks of grain. Inscriptions are placed in three concentric circles surrounding this image. The inscriptions read “Borough of Norfolk Bicentennial”, “1936”, “City of Norfolk Virginia”, “Town 1682”, “Borough 1736”, “City 1845”, “Et Terra Et Mare Divitiae Tuae” (Both by Land and by Sea Thy Riches Are), and “Crescas” (Thou Shalt Grow). The reverse carries an image of the Royal Mace of Norfolk, which was presented by Lieutenant Governor Dinwiddie in 1753. The date “1636” appears at center with two floral sprays. As with the obverse, many inscriptions surround, reading “United States of America”, “Half Dollar”, “Norfolk Virginia Land Grant”, “In God We Trust”, “E Pluribus Unum”, and “Liberty”. Designs for the coin were prepared by William Marks Simpson and Marjorie Emory Simpson. This Commemorative marked an event of purely local interest, and realized poor sales at the time of issue. In the irony that often accompanies such initial failure, it is now among the Scarcer and More Costly Coins in the old commemorative series. This bill authorized the coining of not more than 25,000 half dollars, to be coined at a single mint and with a single design. The entire mintage of 25,013 Norfolk halves was coined in September at the Philadelphia Mint (the odd 13 pieces were reserved for assay and later destroyed). ***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino The Mint 1912 Barber & 1942

Lot # 115 (Sale Order: 97 of 720)

***Auction Highlight*** Old Casino 50c Roll $10 Halves Las Vegas Casino The Mint 1912 Barber & 1942 Walker Ends. Up for auction is a Consignment I have secured a c...moreollection of old 1960’s Las Vegas Casino Half Dollar Shot Gun Rolls from various Casinos. These Rolls contain 20 Half Dollars. They have tight ends and are wild!. I opened three rolls to examine the contents and what I found was mostly Circulated Walkers, a few Franklins and a Seated coin or two and a couple of Barbers. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.
