1944 Italy 1 Lire Note P# 29B Grades vf++

Lot # 6 (Sale Order: 6 of 1759)

1944 Italy 1 Lire Note P# 29B Grades vf++. The AM-lira was the currency issued in Italy by Allied Military Government for Occupied Territories (AMGOT) after the Al...morelied invasion of Sicily in 1943. 100 AM-lire were worth 1 US dollar, and there were two issues: 1943 and 1943A. Totally interchangeable with the normal Italian lira for military decision, it contributed to high inflation that hit Italy towards the end of World War II. Due to rampant inflation, Italy ultimately did not reissue the banknotes for 1 and 2 lire, which had since become useless. After 1946, the AM-lira ceased to be the sole currency and were used along with normal notes, until June 3, 1950.

1922 Weimar Germany 5000 Mark Note P# 81C Grades AU Details

Lot # 20 (Sale Order: 19 of 1759)

1922 Weimar Germany 5000 Mark Note P# 81C Grades AU Details. In the early 1920s, post-WWI Germany saw its economy spiraling out of control. Hyperinflation started ...moredirectly after the war in 1918, but truly took over the Weimar Republic from 1921 to 1923. The value of the Mark declined incredibly rapidly. 1 USD was equal to 50 German Marks at the beginning of 1920. Toward the end of 1923, 1 USD was equal to over 4,200,000,000,000 German Marks. At times, denominations of the Mark became less valuable than the paper and labor to print it almost immediately after printing. Thus, denominations of the Mark notes became incredibly large, ending up in the tens of trillions.

2007-2008 Zimbabwe (3rd Dollar, ZWR) 5 Billion Dollars Hyperinflation Banknote P# 84 Grades Choice

Lot # 24 (Sale Order: 22 of 1759)

2007-2008 Zimbabwe (3rd Dollar, ZWR) 5 Billion Dollars Hyperinflation Banknote P# 84 Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. Hyperinflation in Zimbabwe is an ongoing crisis. ...moreWhile yearly inflation was often measured in the hundreds of percentage points in the early 2000s, from 2007 to 2008 it was measured in the millions, and then trillions. The first Zimbabwean dollar (ZWD) was abandoned in 2005 and replaced with the second (ZWN). The second had to be abandoned again in August 2008, and its replacement currency (ZWR) became obsolete due to ongoing hyperinflation only 6 months later, resulting in a third replacement currency (ZWL). The ZWL was formally demonetised in 2015, and Zimbabwe generally relies on a variety of foreign currencies for local trade.
