The 1987 Mint Set experienced a surge in collector interest following lackluster sales of the past three years. The increased level of sales for the present set was attributable to the 1987 P&D Kennedy Half Dollars. This consisted of P&D Kennedy Half Dollars, P&D Washington Quarters, P&D Roosevelt Dimes, P&D Jefferson Nickels, and P&D Lincoln Cents. Each set also included mint tokens from Philadelphia and Denver. Envelopes for the mint set were brightened up from prior years, with white and red colors separated by a blue stripe. The US Treasury Department logo appears on the upper portion with “The United States Mint”, “1987 Uncirculated Coin Set”, and “with D and D mint marks” on the lower portion.
