1973-1974 United States Mint Set

Lot # 2436 (Sale Order: 29 of 1849)

1973-1974 United States Mint Set. Although first struck in 1971, the Ike dollar did not appear in a mint set until 1973 — and oddly enough, it would turn out that ...morethe only place to find said Eisenhower would be within the year's uncirculated set as none were produced for circulation. With a production of less than 1.8 million, the 13-coin 1973 mint set claimed the lowest output of the 1970s. An already low mintage coupled with the dismantlement of complete sets for individual Ike dollars means that far fewer remain intact for collectors today. We've paired the desirable 1973 mint set with the next 13-coin 1974 issue for a total of 26 coins; each contains Philadelphia and Denver specimens of the cent through dollar as well as an additional San Francisco penny.

Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 1997-1998 with 20 Coins Ins

Lot # 2444 (Sale Order: 32 of 1849)

Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 1997-1998 with 20 Coins Inside!. Each 1997 Mint Set includes uncirculated examples of the ...moreKennedy Half Dollar, Washington Quarter, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, and Lincoln Cent. A total of ten coins are included, comprised of one example each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Additional tokens are included with large sized mint marks “P” and “D”. Packaging for the annual set was updated for the outer illustrated envelope. Against a marbled background was the title “The 1997 United States Uncirculated Coin Set”. Within the envelope were a certificate of authenticity signed by the Director of the Mint and two mylar packs containing the coins. The coins and token from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints were packaged separately. In many ways, the 1998 Mint Set represented the end of an era. The 1998 Mint Set contained the final Washington Quarters before the obverse design would be modified and the reverse would feature five different annual designs commemorating the states. The other coins included were the Kennedy Half Dollar, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, and Lincoln Cent. The ten coins were packaged in two separate mylar packs with tokens representing the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. The outer envelope depicted the circulating coins against a blue background and specifically displayed the reveres design of the quarter. The envelope carried the title “From the United States Mint… The 1998 Uncirculated Coin Set”. An additional message was included at the bottom of the envelope: “This collector’s set includes two 1998 Washington Quarter Dollars. This is the last time the heraldic eagle reverse will appear until at least 2009.”
