Set of Astronaut Autopen Signature Transparencies

Lot # 36 (Sale Order: 36 of 507)

A complete set of about 25 transparencies, each in their individual plastic sheets, containing all the known autopen signatures from every astronaut up to 1987. That includes all astronauts from Freedom 7 to STS-27. These transparencies were made from a small book, in which copies of the cover and Acknowledgements page will be included. Each autopen is life size, and can be slid over any suspect signature you may run across. I have provided two examples with a Young and Duke autopen. Since the transparency autopens are actual size, they will blot out the autopen signature being checked....more

Early Thor-Agena Large Display Model

Lot # 37 (Sale Order: 37 of 507)

The winning bidder for this item will be responsible for arranging and paying for shipping independently of the auction. I will be glad to supply a list of companies if you request, and will work with the shipper of your choice to deliver the item to them. I can even be persuaded to drive the item to you myself if you live within a 2-hour drive of Melbourne, FL. An early Thor-Agena custom-built lobby display rocket model which stands about 10 feet tall when the three parts are stacked. It was told to me that this Thor-Agena model was formerly on display in a lobby of a building on the Air Force Cape side, which sounds very plausible. The solid wooden rocket stands on a heavy metal base, and comes in three parts. The metal base is 20" in diameter and weighs 59 pounds, and sets the bottom of the rocket about 4" above the ground. The rocket body is 10" in diameter weighing in at 58 pounds, and is 74" in length, while the nose is 45" in length and weighs 9 pounds. Total weight equals 126 pounds. The nose has a metal piston which slides easily into the body. The rocket body comes with a metal engine bell which can be screwed off and on. The plate on the Douglas logo base reads "Thor-Agena" and is a bit weathered but can be cleaned up. No significant flaws in the assembly that I can see, and the whole thing should clean up nicely. The Thor-Agena configuration first flew successfully in February 1959, and continued to fly until the late 1960's. Probably one-of-a-kind....more

Large NASA Headquarters Emblem Flag, Display Size

Lot # 39 (Sale Order: 39 of 507)

A large 50"c 68" (about 4 x 5.5 feet) early NASA Headquarters display flag, bordered with tassels, of the exact kind seen in the background of most astronaut portraits. This flag was stored poorly for awhile it seems, and exhibits numerous moth holes especially around the border of the emblem with most of them being small - there are a few 1" tears as well originating from moth holes I suspect. The emblem itself looks to be in great shape, but faded. Additionally, some lengths of the tassels are separating from the flag and have to be re-sewn into position. Attractive and hard to find nonetheless....more
