(N) DESIRABLE MAUSER MODEL 1932 SCHNELLFEUER MACHINE GUN (PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE)

Lot # 2006 (Sale Order: 6 of 667)

Mauser Broomhandle Schnellfeuer machine pistol with unmarked reproduction shoulder stock. Mauser banner logo on left receiver panel just to the rear of the selector switch. Right receiver panel has standard markings ”WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A. NECKAR D.R.P.u.A.P.” with typical crown over "U" and Mauser marking over chamber. Lot # 2020 (Sale Order: 20 of 667)

This MG 08/15 was manufactured in 1918 by Rheinische Maschinen & Metallwaren Fabrik, and all visible parts appear to be matching, including drum hanger and barrel, with exception of the lock which is a renumber to 5162 from 1665. This example includes one drum magazine, and a late style 1918 bipod which, although made for the 13mm Mauser anti-tank rifle, also fits this machine gun. Muzzle and steam plug present. Flat thumb-piece not present on water fill nut. Top cover is marked “5023” / “M.G.08/15” / “Rh.M.&M.F.” / “SOMMERDA.” / “1918.”. PROVENANCE: The class III weapons formerly on loan to Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is very good to fine with about 50% finish mostly turning to a brown patina with some thinning on fusee cover as well as light to moderate pitting on right side plate exposing bare metal. Booster piston does not move freely in booster and there is green verdigris visible inside and a couple slight dings in cone. Water jacket has several light dings and some scratches, one significant ding at 3 o’clock position about the size of a nickel but this does not detract in any significant way. 1/2 inch gouge at very front of fusee cover as well as numerous small dings and dents in fusee cover. Steam hose attachment retains 60% of its olive green paint with one of the attachment ears bent inward against the steam release tube; with careful heating this can be straightened. Steel retention chain to drain cover ring is present. Handgrip has some scarring to left side with loss to checkering as well as some chips and gouges but is it still complete and serviceable. Wooden buttstock, which is matching numbered to gun, has 4 inch crack at center running horizontally. Stock cartouche “PF” within a diamond. Bore is excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is likewise excellent. Mechanics are crisp. Maxim guns which retain their original matching barrels are seldom encountered. (N) ATTRACTIVE GERMAN MP-40 MACHINE GUN ON REGISTERED AUTOMATIC WEAPONS COMPANY TUBE (FULLY TRANSFER

Lot # 2021 (Sale Order: 21 of 667)

This example of the iconic German MP-40 machine gun exhibits some attractive features such as having light brown Bakelite lower assembly. Also immediately noticeable is the MP-38 magazine housing which has a round hole cut out in both sides in order to reduce the overall weight of the weapon. It is important to remember that on the MP-38 model the machined steel tube was significantly heavier than on the later MP-40 model which used a stamped steel tube turned on a mandrel and welded together. This guns receiver tube was manufactured by "Automatic Weapons Company" and both the magazine housing and lower assemblies were manufactured by ERMA (WaA 280). The numbers are not matching between bolt, lower, magazine housing, or barrel. Barrel was manufactured by STEYR (WaA 623). Barrel resting bar is of the Bakelite type. Seven original Nazi marked magazines are included with this lot. The MP-40 needs little introduction as is has been so often seen in various films over the years. It was and remains a highly prized souvenir of American soldiers and is also one of the most popular machine guns to take to the range for the shooting enthusiast. Relatively slow firing, easy to control, comfortable, and utilizes readily available ammunition, and in the rare instance if parts are needed they are also pretty much available. This model also has the great benefit of being easy to field strip and clean. It is one of the best entry level machine guns, and as a full-auto only machine gun it can be transferred into States such as Connecticut. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine as refinished upon assembly. There is some tiny pinprick pitting in some places on the metal of the lower assembly. Bakelite and grips are extremely fine with some light handling marks. Bore is very fine with shiny lands and getting dark in the grooves. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. There will always be someone who "Always wanted one of these...". THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. Accessories: 7 Magazines total Barrel Length: 9.9" Caliber/Bore: 9mm Luger FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Automatic Weapons Co.
