Lot consists of: (A) Argentine manufactured 1911A1 known as the "Sistema Colt" made by F.M.A.P. from 1945 to 1966. This one was manufactured in 1950. Blue/black finished gun with "D.G.F.M.-(F.M.A.P.)" on left side of slide and Argentinian Crest with "EJERCITO ARGENTINO SIST. COLT CAL. 11.25mm. MOD. 1927" on right side with serial number "61787". Blue/black frame with matching serial number. Polished barrel with matching serial number. Black plastic checkered grips. Comes with unmarked magazine. CONDITION: 70% blue/black finish fading to a plum color with wear on the corners. Good grips, bore and mechanics. (B) Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer semiautomatic pistol made in 1903. Blued slide with "Browning's Patent" and Colt's Patent and address on left side with Rampant Colt on rear. Blade front sight and notched rear sight. "Automatic Colt" and "Calibre 38 Rimless Smokeless" on right side. Blued frame with black bakelite checkered grips. 7 shot magazine marked with "Pat'd Sept 9, 1884" on bottom. CONDITION: 80% original blue with light corner wear. Trigger and hammer still have traces of original fire blue. Grips have replacement screw and while original grips they are a shade off in color difference between grips. Excellent original gun otherwise. "Colt Automatic Caliber 25" and Rampant Colt on right side. Blued frame with serrated ring hammer and polished trigger. Walnut checkered grips with Colt medallions. Comes with polished 7-shot clip, original brown box, and papers. CONDITION: 90% original finish with sharp grips some small blemishes near hammer. Box has tape repair with tattered corners and is missing label. Good bore and mechanics. (B) Browning Baby made without slide lock and grip safety and with lever safety from circa 1931 to 1983. Blued slide with matted rib sight plane marked on left side "Browning Arms Company / Made in Belgium" with Belgian proofs around muzzle. Blued frame with safety lever. (C) LOT OF 3: GUNS ATTRIBUTED TO AL CAPONE - CRESCENT FIREARMS CO. NITRO HUNTER SHOTGUN, SAVGE 1907

Lot # 3003 (Sale Order: 3 of 477)      

Lot consist of: (A) Crescent Firearms Model Nitro Hunter single shot shotgun reported to have been used in the Valentine's Day Massacre and owned by Al Capone. Barrel has been crudely cut down to 20-1/2". Handguard is being retained with two metal straps over the barrel and handguard. Metal has lost most of its finish with heavy wear and patina. Stock was cut off at the wrist, and rounded off. Faint serial number on the frame, under the trigger guard. Chamber marked "REINFORCED BREACH/CHOKE BORED". Included is paperwork describing the events of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, and this shotguns possible involvement, being the firearm the "obliterated the faces of two individuals". Paperwork also states that Al Capone gave this shotgun to W.H. Thompkins sometime in the early 1940's after returning from time served at Alcatraz prison. W.H. Tompkins had been taking care of Capone's' Hialeah Florida estate and Capone reported gave this shotgun to him as payment. Tompkins would later go on to be a councilman for the City of Hialeah Florida. None of this information can be confirmed but is a possibly legitimate story. The shotgun sits in a display case with Al Capone's mug shot, a picture of the Hialeah Florida estate, and W.H. Tompkins Councilman's badge. CONDITION: Metal retains little to none of its original finish with heavy wear and patina. Wood has numerous dings and scratches. Bore has heavy pitting near the chamber. Lock up is tight, as is the hammer. Mechanically fine. Display case and badge are excellent. Photos are framed copies. (B) Savage 1907 semi-automatic pistol. Made 1910. Standard patent dates and "CAL .32" on the top of the slide. Blade front sight and u-notch rear. Blued finish has worn to a dull patina in most areas. Hard rubber grips with checkering and the "SAVAGE/QUALITY" logo. Includes original magazine, display case, picture of the Florida estate, Al Capone mugshot, and a picture of W.H. Tompkins Councilman badge. An affidavit is included saying this gun and gun C in this lot were owned by W.H. Tompkins. CONDITION: Metal retains little to none of its original finish with the metal turning to a grey patina in most areas. Grips have wear and handling marks. Bore is frosted, but does retain very good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine is a grey patina as well. Case is very good with light wear. Pictures are framed copies. An affidavit is included saying this gun and gun B in this lot were owned by W.H. Tompkins. (C) Mossberg Brownie 4-shot pistol. Made 1920's. Blade front sight. Metal finish has worn to a heavy patina. Wood grips, with the left panel half missing. CONDITION: Metal retains none of its original finish with heavy patina. Lot consist of (A) DWM 1915 dated P.08 Luger semi automatic pistol. Chamber dated "1915" with a "DWM" roll mark in script on the toggle. German military proofs on the right side of the slide. No import mark found. All visible serial numbers match. Side plate is not numbered, possible field replacement. Original finish worn in most areas. Checkered wood grips. Includes period correct wood bottom magazine, which is un-numbered. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with wear, blemishes and some light freckling. There are a few deep pits on the outside of the barrel. Wood grips are solid with light wear to the checkering. Bore is frosted with good overall rifling. Looks to be missing firing pin and spring. Mechanically inoperable. Magazine body is very good. Wood bottom is cracked clean through. (B) Mauser 1937 S/42 code P.08 Luger semi automatic pistol. Chamber dated "1937" with "S/42" code toggle. Large Century Arms import mark on the left side of the frame. All visible serial numbers match. Pre war military proofs on the right side of the slide. Round steel barrel with a blade front sight and v-notch rear sight. Metal components refinished at some point. Checkered wood grips. Includes a period correct aluminum bottom magazine, which does not match. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its re-applied finish with wear and handling marks. Some areas of minor pitting are visible. Lot consist of: (A) Mauser production P.08 Luger semi automatic pistol. Barrel is dated "1918" with Imperial German proofs on the right side of the chamber. Toggle has been replaced with a World War Two era "S/42" code toggle. No visible import mark. All numbers on the toggle look to match each other, "17". Other parts are mismatched and do not match the toggle. Standard blade front sight with v-notch rear. Light coat of reapplied finish on most of the metal components. Checkered wood grips. No magazine included. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its reapplied finish with areas of wear and some light pitting. Grips are very good with minor wear. Frosted bore retaining good rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) DWM Commercial Luger semi automatic pistol. 1920s era commercial model with ATF reapplied serial number on the left side of the frame. Commercial German proofs on the chamber and toggle. Other parts are matching, most likely to their original serial number. Blade front sight and v-notch rear. Original finish has worn to a nice patina in most areas. Checkered plastic East German style grips. No magazine included. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with areas of wear and patina. Grips are very good with light handling marks. Clean overall bore with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. Other parts are mismatched and do not match the toggle. Standard blade front sight with v-notch rear. Light coat of reapplied finish on most of the metal components. Checkered wood grips. No magazine included. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its reapplied finish with areas of wear and some light pitting. Grips are very good with minor wear. Frosted bore retaining good rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) DWM Commercial Luger semi automatic pistol. 1920s era commercial model with ATF reapplied serial number on the left side of the frame. Commercial German proofs on the chamber and toggle. Other parts are matching, most likely to their original serial number. Blade front sight and v-notch rear. Original finish has worn to a nice patina in most areas. Checkered plastic East German style grips. No magazine included. Lot consists of (A) Early production Type 14 pistol manufactured by Tokyo Arsenal in June of 1928. Early production features include a small variation trigger guard, with a lack of a magazine retention spring. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, magazine latch, magazine safety block, barrel & barrel extension, bolt, locking block, cocking knob, and 2 piece serrated wood grips. Magazine does not match and front sight has been replaced. CONDITION: Metal components retain traces of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to a gray patina, as well as scattered areas of pitting all around. Rear of cocking knob is slightly bent on the left side side. Bore shows light pitting throughout and retains fair rifling. Grips exhibit wear and show some scattered handling and storage marks. (B) Late war production, series 2 Type 14 pistol manufactured by the Toriimatsu Factory in June of 1944. Later production features include a large style trigger guard and knurled cocking knob. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, magazine latch, safety lever, barrel & barrel extension locking block, bolt, striker, cocking knob, and 2 piece serrated wood grips. Striker matches, but no longer retains its tip. Magazine does not match. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some smoothing and pitting beneath the finish. Safety lever and extractor retain their reddish tone. Mirror bore, with well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some minor flaking to the varnish. Rosewood grips with checkering. Includes original magazine stamped "COLT CAL 22 L.R." on the bottom. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its reapplied finish with some light holster wear. Grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks. Magazine is very good with light wear. Mechanically excellent. Lot consist of: (A) DWM Commercial P.08 Luger semi automatic pistol. Most likely made early 1920's for export. Export marked on the front of the frame. Left side of the frame has "MAH" stamped in addition to it being stamped on the rear of the frame. Commercial proofs on the barrel, slide and toggle. All external serial numbers are matching. Original finish with correct checkered wood grips. Not matching later production magazine with plastic bottom. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with general wear, scratches and handling marks. Grips have wear to the checkering in addition to general scratches and handling marks. Bore is lightly frosted with good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) DWM 1918 dated P.08 Luger semi automatic pistol. Made in 1918. Imperial German proofs on the right side of the slide. Import marked on the underside of the barrel. All exterior serial numbers are matching. Side plate was forced match. Blade front sight with v-notch rear. Metal has been lightly refinished. Incorrect plastic checkered grips. Wood bottom magazine which has been refinished and is un-marked. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its re-applied finish. Grips are very good with light scratches. Lot consists of (A) Type 14 manufactured at Tokyo Arsenal in December of 1929. Small variation trigger guard, with a grooved cocking knob, and grooved two piece wood grips. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger guard, barrel & barrel extension, cocking knob, locking block, magazine catch, and two piece grooved grips. Bolt and magazine do not match. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning showing through to brown patina. Grip straps have worn to a gray patina, and show some scattered pitting. Arsenal stampings are sharp. Bore is lightly frosted and retains good rifling throughout. Wood grips show some wear and some minor nicks, as well as a dragline from the safety lever. (B) Type 94 manufactured at the Chuo Kogyo Arsenal in December of 1944. "Squareback" cocking knob with slab two piece wood grips. Matching numbers include the frame, slide, cocking knob/bolt, locking block, extractor, barrel, and magazine. Grips retain old white paint on their exteriors. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning all around. Grip straps, trigger guard, and bottom of frame have worn and retain a gray and patina. Bright bore with good rifling throughout. Grips are good, showing aging and some wear to their paint.
