One of 2016 produced to celebrate the 2016 bicentennial of Remington. The tapered polished blue barrel is dressed with a gold band around the muzzle and fitted with hooded ramped blade front sight and standard adjustable rear. Left side of the receiver features a depiction of Eliphalet Remington done in gold inlay with folate scrollwork. Right side has a large gold banner reading "1816 BICENTENNIAL 2016" along with further scrollwork. Gloss finished C-grade highly figured fleur-de-lis pattern checkered forend and pistol grip stock with gilt grip cap and RA monogram plastic butt plate. Complete with its original box and factory paperwork. CONDITION: Excellent. As new with only light handling. Very fine, bright bore, likely unfired since factory proofing. Fine mechanics. 1870-1880S COLWELL LEAD COMPANY SHOTGUN PELLET STORE DISPLAYS.

Lot consists of 2 early eye catching advertising store displays for American Standard Ammo Shot produced by Colwell Lead Co., New York. The company was formed by the Colwell brothers soon after the Civil War, where they produced top quality shot in their newly designed shot tower. High quality displays with metal frame surrounding a cardboard interior with cut-out sections displaying various sizes of actual ammo shot, with descriptive advertising and info on backside. Both remain intact with all shot in place. 1 is missing its hanging loop. Some chipping to glass, with yellowing and foxing to cardboard. Each measures 9". CONDITION: Good.

GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE SINGLE DECAL M40 HELMET.

Lot # 3468 (Sale Order: 468 of 516)      

German World War II Luftwaffe M40 single decal helmet in a shell maker/size "Q64" and lot number of "DN228". Unissued Luftwaffe M40 SD helmets like this with such crown wear from being stacked are known to have come from an abandoned train near Paris after the Normandy invasion, and brought home by GIs. Shell exterior retains approximately 90% of its rough blue-gray paint, with freckling, scrapes, and white paint. Shell interior retains approximately 95% of its rough paint with dust and freckling. Luftwaffe eagle rates 95+%, with era-applied lacquer. A reproduction tricolor decal was added postwar and is likely to be easily removed. Original liner had moderate rim wear with a glue repair on one of its tongues. Drawstring is present. Zinc liner band with what appears to be undisturbed rivets. An original chinstrap with steel and aluminum fittings is present with moderate wear was added after the war. CONDITION: Overall very good to excellent. WEZ

Italian World War II RSI Badge for Italian troops who trained in Germany. Constructed of zamac, this version is for enlisted personnel. After Italy surrendered in September of 1943 some soldiers remained loyal to Mussolini and a new government was formed in northern Italy known as the RSI. Soldiers under this regime were sent to Germany to receive military training. This badge was issued to those who received that training. A seldom encountered badge. Light tarnishing with a pleasing patina. Pinback intact and functional. CONDITION: Good.

Lot consists of 3 display boards that exhibit wreckage of German aircraft that were shot down during World War II. (A) Display board with pieces of a Luftwaffe Ju-88 that was shot down on the night of January 21-22, 1944 by a British Mosquito from 96 Squadron. The Ju-88 is noted to have crashed at Paddock Wood, Kent. (B) Display board with wreckage of a Ju87B Stuka Dive Bomber that was shot down by yellow section of 615 Squadron Heathrow over the English Channel at 3:50pm on Sunday July 14, 1940. The British pilots who intercepted the Stuka are identified, as well as the Stuka crew, listing the German pilot as KIA and crew member as missing. (C) Display board that exhibits wreckage of a Dornier DO172-3 that was shot down by British fighters over Eastchurch, and crashed at Chapel Hill Farm, Leysdown, at 4:15pm on Tuesday, August 20, 1940. The German pilot is listed as KIA while crew members were captured. All display boards exhibit light wear with nicely preserved wreckage. These were most likely displayed somewhere in England. CONDITION: Good.

US CIVIL WAR PERIOD OFFICER'S CHAPEAU DE BRAS.

Solid example of a Civil War era Pattern 1858 officer's chapeau. Dropped as a regulation item in 1851, the officers’ chapeau prescribed in the 1847 regulations was reinstated for dress in 1858 “for all general and field officers at their option.” This example is consistent with the 1858 pattern. Chapeau is constructed of faux beaver fur on a pressed form and lined with maroon silk. A gold embroidered riband with staff officer’s button and eagle cockade pin secure a black grosgrain cockade in place. Heavy gold bullion tassels adorn each end of the hat. A black ostrich plume runs the length of the crown. Makers stamp inside of silk crown identifies the maker as WARNOCK & CO. / ST. NICHOLAS HOTEL. CONDITION: Excellent with no fading or bug damage. From a smoke free home.

LOT OF 3: US CIVIL WAR M1855 CARTRIDGE POUCHES.

Lot # 3475 (Sale Order: 475 of 516)      

Lot consists of: (A) Decent example of the standard Federal Pattern of 1855 cartridge pouch as issued to Union infantry into the early 1860s. This rifle musket cartridge box was used to hold forty .58 caliber pre-wrapped paper cartridges. Brass US “box” plate is not present but the slits in the leather will readily accept one. Outer flap leather closure latch tab is supple and intact along with the brass finial on the bottom used to secure the tab. Outer flap is also present and exhibits moderate alligatoring to the finish. Both japanned metal black roller buckles that secure the shoulder strap to the bottom of the box remain. (B) M1855 cartridge pouch with shoulder strap. Missing one half of the tin cartridge holder. One side of the leather body is present but coming unstitched. Missing the "US" plate to front. (C) CONDITION: Very good. Leather shows crazing on both, but both are still solid examples.
