(N) Matching Original German WWII MP-40 Machine Gun (CURIO & RELIC) (DEACTIVATED STATUS).

Lot # 2 (Sale Order: 2 of 399)

German WW2 MP-40 manufactured by “bnz” (Steyr) in 1943. Machined steel parts such as barrel and barrel nut are proof marked by “fxo” (C.G. Haenel), yet are matching in serial number to the receiver number of the gun. Later manufacturing technique of having trunnion retained by indentation on top and bottom of receiver tube. Visible numbers appear matching including barrel, barrel nut, receiver, lower assembly, trigger guard, rear sight, and bolt. Arms of swing out shoulder loop do not match rest of gun. Three post-war magazines are included. Front sight hood and muzzle nut are not present. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good, original finish with a soft brown patina on exposed sheet metal parts with more of a gray patina on the grip frame. Upon disassembly and also examining the inside of the receiver tube one finds far nicer finish remaining. Just as one would expect a combat field-used machine gun to be. Bakelite barrel resting bar has some chips and gouges, but very solid and serviceable. Rh grip panel has 2-1/2” long x 3/8” wide chip missing from back which does not affect serviceability. Bore rifling is strong, dark in the grooves. Bolt face is very fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. Please take note that although in a deactivated legal status there does not appear to be any damage to the chamber whatsoever. The MP-40 needs no introduction to the World War II collector or recreational machine gun enthusiast. Considered by many to be one of the best entry level historical machine guns, it is slow firing, from an open bolt, with parts available and readily available ammunition and magazines. A gun you will take to the range over and over for the sheer fun and simplicity of it. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 5 AS A CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE DEACTIVATED MACHINE GUN. THIS GUN MAY BE REACTIVATED UPON APPLICATION AND APPROVAL BY THE BATF, SUBJECT TO ANY STATE AND LOCAL RESTRICTIONS. JWK 18-39 Accessories: 3 magazines Barrel Length: 9 - 3/4" Caliber/Bore: 9mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Germany Model: MP-40 Paperwork: No Serial Number: 1146f

(N) Absolutely Fabulous Incredibly Sought After German FG-42 2nd Model Machine Gun (FULLY TRANSFERAB

Lot # 3 (Sale Order: 3 of 399)

Absolutely fabulous German FG 42 machine gun Type G (2nd Model with 90 degree hand grip). This shoulder fired select-fire machine gun utilizes the full power 8mm Mauser cartridge and includes one original 20 round magazine marked only with a “4” below the front attachment tab. Also included is an original Nazi ZF4 scope marked “ddx” (Voigtlander & Sohn) with unmarked reproduction mount and rings. In addition to the original spike type bayonet, a second spike bayonet is also included, as well as a sling hook and a Val Forgett 1973 published technical manual for the FG42. Production of the earliest FG-42’s occurred in 1942 with the final prototype, the early Type C Model being presented to Hitler by Hermann Goring as a Christmas present. Subsequently, Hitler decreed that the Fallschirmjagergewehr 42 should be issued to the paratroopers. Specifications demanded a light, but robust automatic weapon, capable of reliable, accurate, long-range fire. There was an evolution of models culminating in this G Model offered here. These guns are exceedingly comfortable to shoot, with the muzzle break doing its job well. Heinrich Krieghoff of Suhl with code (fzs) made most of the FG-42 type weapons which totaled, including all models, fewer than 7,500 units. Few were brought back to the U.S. during and after WW2, and even fewer made it into the National Firearms Act registry as transferable to individuals. This particular specimen was at one time deactivated by cutting the rear end of the receiver in two at a spot which is underneath the wooden buttstock. The two pieces were subsequently very professionally welded back together and re-manufactured as a full transferable machine gun. The welding work is superior and one can only discern some slight discoloration to the metal where it occurred. Even this slight blemish is totally concealed when the buttstock is in place and does not affect the serviceability in any way. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent with well over 95% original finish with some loss of finish to at the high edges. Lightweight receiver exhibits its original gray anodized factory finish with this same finish on the metal of the hand grip assembly where the black enamel finish has been lost. Trigger is a pleasing brown with some thinning of finish due to use. Bakelight hand grip is exceptionally fine and of the most attractive rich brown color. Bipod retains about 98% of its original black enamel finish. Barrel, rear sight post, and muzzle break retention latch retain nearly all of their lustrous deep blue finish. Spike bayonet extremely fine. Underneath buttstock assembly, between 5” – 6” forward of buffer there is a darker area of finish where this gun was expertly reconstituted as noted above. It is discernible that this is where the work was done due to the difference in the color of the finish but otherwise the workmanship is of the highest order. Laminated wood buttstock is extremely fine and has some small dings and handling marks with a 1” long gouge on right side and a small chip out of the toe. Not really noticeable at first look. Wood hand guard is near excellent with only the slightest handling marks and a tiny ding on the left side. Magazine is extremely fine. Scope also extremely fine with clear optics. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is also near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS FULLY TRANSFERABLE. Maschinen Fabrik Augsburg – Nurnberg “MAN” manufactured 1917 dated Maxim 08/15 machine gun with matching parts throughout, including but not limited to the feed block, bolt, barrel, drum hanger stock . Visible numbers match everywhere. “EWD” marking on right side of buttstock indicates "Ein Wohner Wehr Bayern" which was an armed residents unit based in Munich in the Pre-Nazi days. A number of original WW1 Maxim 08/15's were retained in Germany under the terms of the treaty of Versailles, and some, like this one were in the hands of a quasi-official armed civilian organizations. Later, when the Nazi's came to power, this gun was collected up and "updated" as you see here. Special Weimer retrofit drain spout cover which is a simple plug which locks into place. The water fill cap retains its original wood thumb pieces. Gun comes with numerous accessories including “The Devil’s Paintbrush” book signed by Dolf Goldsmith, Original Nazi “battle-pack” of 300 rounds of steel cased 8mm ammunition, original belt drum hanger, reproduction leather and cloth sling, camouflaged painted bipod, one metal ammo can with Turkish maxim brass-tabbed cloth belt with 8mm Portugese, Berdan primed non-corrosive ammunition. Also included is a rare late war style drum box with two original WW1 German 08/15 Maxim assault drums. Also included is an original German WW1 water can with “swing-out” spout, and what is almost certainly the condensing hose tip captured with this gun as it has the special fitting at the end for this Weimar era retrofit drain plug. Original anti-aircraft rear sight is included attached to the right side of the receiver. Exceptionally rare parts on this gun include the feed block with a switch which allows the firer to utilize either cloth belts or MG34 belts, and the even rarer forward bipod attachment ring which fits between the muzzle booster and nose of water jacket. One also immediately notices drain valve positioned at the bottom of the water 17” forward on the trunnion. Also included is an extremely rare original leather cover for the pistol grip. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original Weimar era deep blue refinish on all metal parts except for the bipod, which although almost certainly was not captured with this gun, it was what the consignor had, and does exhibit an interesting camouflage paint with scattered corrosion at the exposed points. Walnut stock and pistol-grip handle show light handling marks, bruises and scratches, but remain string and serviceable. Buttstock has a 4” long crack on right side running parallel to the bore line. Drum box is extremely fine, as are drums within, both of which retain their original paint. Steam condensing hose is black rubber, still soft and pliable which indicates it is a replacement, but from long ago undoubtedly. Bore near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is also near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is an exceptional gun and an example of an exceedingly rare model, which was only fielded for a very short time before the MG-34 replaced it as soon as this newer model machine gun became available. Returning G.I.’s were obviously more attracted to the more modern machine gun designs they encountered. As to how many of this specimens particular configuration survived the war, in a completely matching numbers state, were brought back to the United States, and subsequently registered for private ownership, this cataloger would like hear some input, but probably fewer than can be counted on the fingers of one hand if even that many. Offered for the most discerning and advanced Maxim and WW1 collector, and/or shrewd investor, a chance not likely to be repeated to own what is likely the very best specimen of its kind. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 18-74 Accessories: Ammo, drums, water can, bipod Barrel Length: 29" Caliber/Bore: 7.92x57mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Nurnberg Model: Maxim 08/15 Paperwork: No Serial Number: 7650

(N) Superb and Very Rare German WW2 MP 43/1 Machine Gun With Original Scope (CURIO & RELIC)

Lot # 7 (Sale Order: 7 of 399)

Extremely attractive and eye-catching early German WW2 MP43/1 manufactured by C.G. Haenel in 1943, with eagle over “37” proofs on underside of receiver as well as on left side of barrel. Other proof marks in evidence are “cos” (Merz werk), and “awt” (Wurttemburgische Matallwarefabrik), who were both well-known German WW2 sheet metal sub-contractors who provided a great deal of equipment to the German military. Close examination reveals that the bolt and operating rod were provided by Mauser (eagle over “26”) with an “M” on the underside of the bolt. The bolt is of the early “1st” type without a factory cut-out near the extractor. Visible parts appear all matching SN throughout, to include hand inscribed SN on bolt. Scope mount exhibits matching SN with eagle over “214” proof, with tiny eagle over swastika final proof visible through release lever channel. Accessories include German WW2 vintage ZF4 scope manufactured by “ddx” (Voigtlander & Sohn), original leather sling, and one rare original “MKb42” over “MP43” marked magazine also with C.G. Haenel proofs. This gun incorporates an original factory-fitted MKb-42 “Heavy” un-stepped barrel with long muzzle nut. This is completely consistent with the vintage of this gun as part of the transition from the manufacture of the Mkb-42 the factory was utilizing the barrels and other parts still on hand. This model was the Grand-daddy of all modern assault rifles incorporating desirable features such as being select-fire, firing from a closed bolt, taking an intermediate cartridge (shorter than the standard 8mm) which could range out further and with greater effect than a pistol cartridge, and yet have a high magazine capacity. This specimen exhibits and important step what the German military was trying to develop. A rifle which would serve in multiple roles and situations according to need, include having a scope for longer range and low-light conditions. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent mixture of original and nearly indiscernible original factory refinish at time of assembly of sub-contracted parts. Stock has some very light handling marks. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. A fantastic find for the advanced WW2 German military collector, and gun that is great fun to shoot at the range as well. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. (N) Absolutely Fantastic German WW2 ZB-26 Machine Gun With SS Death's Head Marking (CURIO & RELIC).

Lot # 8 (Sale Order: 8 of 399)

Absolutely fantastic ZB-26 machine gun as manufactured by Czechoslovakia as VZ-26 with Spanish crest and taken into German service. Top of receiver bears SS depot death's head logo. Many of this model were captured when the Czechoslovakia became part of the German Reich. Whether they were already in Czech military service, produced but not yet delivered as foreign contract, or unfinished at the factory, all were taken into German service. The SS in particular acquired these in the years prior to their being allowed to procure weapons through normal military channels. Thus one will see “SS” markings on a variety of guns with otherwise different manufacturer’s markings. Germany took over the Czech BRNO plant and it became “Waffenwerke Brunn” and assigned the WaA 63 acceptance code. Completed, or near complete guns were inspected, accepted and sent along to be issued as needed. This specimen exhibits both the eagle over “63” proofs and a “death’s head” under what appears to be “SS 2” depot mark, above the original, partially obliterated original Czech proofmark at the top of the receiver. The original Czech applied manufacturers markings on the sides of the receiver remain, of course. Barrel serial number of “P3541” does not match receiver SN, but it is a vintage correct barrel with eagle over “63” proof and eagle over Swaztika firing proof. Left side of stock sling hardware boss is marked “30P 190” This is the unit designation to which it was issued. One original 20 round Czech magazine is included with this gun. Also included is redacted copy of original 1945 dated registration form. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original finish on barrel, and receiver, with the metal of the lower assembly metal finish thinning to more a gray patina, with a peppering of gray pitting corrosion at rear of stock hardware. There are weld marks underneath and to either side of the barrel release latch on the left of the receiver, and cleaned up weld marks 1” to the rear of the latch on the underside of receiver which indicates this gun was a DEWAT at one time. Barrel release latch a plum color. Gas cylinder tube extremely clean. Buttstock and handgrip wood are extremely fine Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright with some darkness in the grooves. Bolt is near excellent with Czech marking visible at top. Magazine also exhibits Czech proof with extremely fine finish. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun with “20” “0” “1” selector. Absolutely stunningly attractive specimen with desirable markings. A great specimen of one of the best box magazine fed machine guns of the WW2 conflict. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. LA Accessories: Case, stock, cleaning rod and 2 magazines Barrel Length: 5 - 1/2" Caliber/Bore: 7.63mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Mauser Model: M712 Paperwork: No Serial Number: 55479 CORRECTION: We have been asked to document all specific areas of wear. It is always subjective when someone give an overall percentage of original finish. Suffice to say, it would be nearly impossibly to find a better example as there are none that survive in 100% condition with no external wear of any kind. That said, on the left side of the barrel there is a brown toned 3/4" line blending with the blue finish with some light age freckling on the right side of the barrel; judging by the toning and the freckling, it has been on there for a long time, most likely from the wooden stock. There is a touch of muzzle wear where it has toned. The rails of the slide, much like the Luger, where the touch points would have interacted with the wooden stock, resulting in light 3/4" finish loss from contact on the forward section of both rails. There is a touch of wear forward of the right bolt stop. Rear of grip strap where stock would slide on and off has some high edge rail wear. There is also wear beneath the selector switch, caused simply by moving from semi-automatic to fully automatic, much like the takedown line on a Colt 1911. There are a couple spots of wear on the bottom of the matte finish magazine. Some light high edge wear at the rear of the frame. One could argue whether this detailed description of finish loss is 5% or 2% of the total blued surface area, technically if all these spots of wear were subtracted from a 100% flat surface, it would probably total less then 2% of total area as the wear is exactly where it should be at contact points. To not have this wear, the gun would have to virtually never been in a holster, never been used, and selector switch remain in one position nearly its entire life. This pistol was examined by noted authority Len Antaris, one of the foremost experts on semi-automatic pistols, and has been deemed 100% original and untouched in any way. It would be nearly impossible to find an example of this rare pistol in better condition, unless you were to find one that had been put away, unfired, where it would have rested for nearly 100 years.

(N) Rare Highly Sought German WW2 Bergmann MP35/I Machine Gun (CURIO & RELIC)

Lot # 10 (Sale Order: 10 of 399)

The Bergmann MP35/I machine gun was originally designed and marketed for the European police market in the mid 1930’s and was produced in two barrel lengths, 7.75" and 12.60". These were generally issued to German police and SS units during World War 2. This specimen is devoid of makers markings of any kind. Only the serial numbers are in evidence as noted below. This model was one of the last of the high-quality milled steel machine guns before Germany and subsequently other countries went to the practice of using stamped metal parts. This model incorporates some very interesting features for a pistol caliber machine gun. It incorporates a two-trigger select fire system where the firer can squeeze off solitary rounds one after another by squeezing the forward trigger to the rear and then releasing it after each shot. If the firer desires fully automatic fire they need only to squeeze the forward trigger all the way to the rear which actuates a lever (2nd trigger) at the rear of the trigger guard which provides automatic fire. One can understand the advantages to not needing to reposition a finger to push a selector button or flip a selector switch. The firer simply needs a little training and practice. The other highly interesting and convenient feature is this model incorporates a quick release barrel feature. 3 ¼” to the rear of the front edge of the fore-end there is a detent button which when depressed with the tip of a finger or small tool will actuate a lever allowing the muzzle and barrel assembly to rotate 90 degrees and be easily withdrawn from the shroud for cleaning. This is an absolutely wonderful feature for the modern recreational machine gun enthusiast ! Other features include a safety lever at the left side of the receiver below and slightly to the rear of the adjustable rear sight, and a bolt release catch just to rear of it which allows the bolt to fully withdrawn for cleaning. The bolt itself is a relatively heavy piece which cocks the weapon in a way reminiscent of a bolt action rifle for the first shot. This particular specimen has a laminated stock and un-numbered bolt. Receiver serial number and trigger guard number “82a” do not match. Barrel number is barely discernable “488” on bottom of chamber. One 30 round magazine is included. Magazine appears to be professionally adapted from a MP34 magazine. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine with over 80% WW2 vintage refinish over some small but noticeable shrapnel marks in the metal on the shroud near the muzzle, and on the magazine well and housing. Explosion would have come from the right side at about the 1 o’clock position somewhat forward of the carrier of this weapon. The magazine housing has been just slightly curved inward at the center forward edge, making the magazine a tight fit. Very interesting, and is almost certainly what must have precipitated the replacement of the barrel and some other restorative work by a Waffenmeister. The rear of the receive and magazine housing has turned to a pleasing smooth brown patina. The forward edge of the stock has undergone an expert repair by matching and gluing a small plug in place, barely noticeable. Otherwise stock has some small dings and handling marks. Bore is shiny and bright but definitely has experienced use. Bolt is extremely fine within the receiver, turning a brown patina where exposed. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. This is a fairly rare model of a WW2 machine gun, and the interesting feature of the quick release barrel has often been overlooked by both the Veterans who bagged the guns, and subsequent collectors. This specimen with its interesting and yet not unattractive battle damage makes for a particularly interesting historical piece. It would almost no effort to straighten the forward edge of the magazine well, but we leave that as a choice for the winning bidder to decide upon. This is a great collector’s piece as it is. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. (N) Registered Deactivated Steyr MP30 (German WW2 MP-34o predecessor) Machine Gun (CURIO & RELIC)(DE

Lot # 11 (Sale Order: 11 of 399)

The Steyr MP-30 and its close decendent, the MP34o were among the the last of the milled steel receiver machine guns, and also one of the most powerful of the pistol caliber sub-machine guns, the Steyr MP30 was designed and intended to be used as a police arm and also for export. It was produced in several calibers, including .45 acp, 9 mm Mauser, 9 mm Steyr, 9 mm Parabellum, 7.63 Mauser, and 7.65 mm. The 9mm Mauser is a very powerful a pistol cartridge and one friend of this cataloger who has one of these guns states that it "really barks and jumps!" The early models were mostly chambered in 9mm Mauser, and the later ones, after 1938 were chambered mostly in 9 mm parabellum. There was a significant contract in 9mm parabellum produced for Portugal in 1942, but it seems a least a portion of these were redirected into the hands of German security forces as this cataloger has talked to several Veterans, or relatives of Veterans who bagged them from German prison camp guards during or immediately after WW2. All these so captured bore the Portugese creast. This specimen is marked with “W” Austrian Eagle and “34” proof on left side of receiver below hinge of top cover. Visible numbers appear matching including receiver, bolt, cover latch, safety, and stock. Stock has the distinctive sweep and profile particular to the MP-30. Safety forward of the trigger guard also indicative of the MP-30. One original 32 round 9mm Mauser magazine included. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine original finish with scattered areas of light corrosion. Top cover release latch, bolt handle, and sling hardware finish handle thinning to a gray brown patina. Light brown corrosion in recessed areas from storage, as well as on forward flat of trigger guard, most of which should clean-up with some effort. Stock exhibits moderate dings and handling marks but still remains very solid and serviceable. Barrel has been welded to receiver at the chamber, with the chamber being plugged with weld. Sufficient heat was used during this process to “crater” the area of the receiver surrounding the mouth of the chamber. Bolt face was ground down sufficiently so it closes all the way forward when released. Bore condition not observed due to chamber being plugged. Bolt is extremely clean and in the white with the face and extractor ground down well behind the extractor claw, with some heat discoloration. Mechanics are otherwise crisp apart from the deactivation steps already noted. This is a select-fire machine gun. Actually, quite a nice example of its kind which with the appropriate amount of expertise, effort and parts could be restored to a firing condition. JWK 18-57 Barrel Length: 8 - 1/4" Caliber/Bore: 9mm Mauser FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Steyr Model: MP30 Sear Serial Number: 4699 Serial Number: 4699
The Steyr MP-30 and its close decendent, the MP34o were among the the last of the milled steel receiver machine guns, and also one of the most powerful of the pistol cali...moreber sub-machine guns, the Steyr MP30 was designed and intended to be used as a police arm and also for export. Lot # 13 (Sale Order: 13 of 399)

Very likely the most complete and highest condition MG34 kit remaining, this completely matching and all complete kit less the original receiver was hand-picked from all the ones imported by International Military Antiques years ago from all such kits they had access to. This was the one which was all matching, with all accessories, and in near new original condition. All of the Portuguese contract kits observed were “dot” (Waffenwerke Brunn) manufactured. The Transit chests were specially fitted to hold the disassembled guns, spare barrels, barrel carriers, and gunners kits. The exterior of these transit chests were painted green and stenciled with the Portuguese designation “M/944” for the MG34 machine gun, and this chest matches the SN of the gun inside. 'The guns and parts supplied to Portugal such as this one, bear Nazi proofs and are numbered just as their counterparts being delivered to the German military forces were. CONDITION: Just about mint in original chest, with original Portuguese delivery paperwork and firing record book indicating the gun was occasionally fired 30 rounds on one occasion and 60 rounds on another in the 1950's and 1960's. (N) Highly Sought Soviet Russian WW2 PpSh-41 Machine Gun (CURIO & RELIC)

Lot # 15 (Sale Order: 15 of 399)

This Soviet Russian PPSh-41 machine was manufactured in 1942 by the Vyatskie Polyany factory as indicated by the star within the shield marking. This is one of the major manufacturers of this machine gun during WW2. The year of manufacture is visible directly below this marking. Visible serial numbers appear matching on upper receiver, lower assembly tang, trigger guard, and stock, and even on the right side of the bolt. One 30 round magazine is included with deeply struck non-matching serial number ending in "4521" on right side near the base. Although over 5 million of these guns were manufactured in Soviet Russia, they are a fairly scarce as a fully transferable machine gun in the National Firearms Act registry. Most probably having come into this country from Veterans who either bagged them in Germany during or after WW2, or subsequently in Korea or Viet Nam. The Germans on their Eastern front liked to use these machine guns when they could capture them for as long as there was ammunition available. They are a dependable machine gun, fire very fast, took a 71 round drum and the sound it made did not "draw" Russian return fire as readily as the German MP-40. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent as refinished. Wood stock has a neatly routed oval on the left side with the gun serial number within. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is near excellent and in the white. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. From an American collector's perspective this gun is a welcome and somewhat difficult specimen to acquire as a Curio and Relic transferable machine gun, and every bit as iconic as any of the German machine guns out there. It was used by enemy forces across several major conflicts, and ammunition remains plentiful and available in this country. A great find ! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 18-31. (N) Extremely Early Armalite AR-18 Machine Gun (CURIO & RELIC).

Lot # 21 (Sale Order: 21 of 399)

Exceedingly low serial number specimen of the Armalite AR-18 machine gun in its pistol configuration. Visible numbers match between upper and lower receivers. Ambidextrous three position selector. Original wooden and composite hand guard and forward vertical hand grip. Original early "ARMALITE" marked AR-18 magazine included. The AR-18 was designed to be a less expensive yet improved alternative to the US M16 rifle. Originally designed in 1963, it incorporates sheet metal construction and an ambidextrous selector, also a folding stock. Examination reveals many familiar parts from the M-16 such as front sight post, which rotates, and adjustable flip peep sight. It takes M16 magazines as welll. Ejection port cover is interesting in that it closes over the charging handle slot with the bolt forward. Both vertical foregrip and pistol grip are marked "AR-18 ARMALITE". Manufacturer and model markings on left side of the receiver. Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent. Original smooth grey finish on metal parts. Some light scratches and handling marks to pistol grip; two small pieces to the left side of the hand guard have broken away and are not present and on the right side there is a repaired crack 4" long which is not immediately noticeable. Aluminum magazine has a black anodized finish wearing to bare metal at the high edges and where the magazine latch touches the side of the magazine. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Mechanics are crisp. The AR-18 is a high quality and very reliable machine gun and enjoys popularity with many shooting enthusiasts. This exceedingly rare, early specimen in a prototype configuration is an important example of the American machine gun developmental history. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. Barrel Length: 11" Caliber/Bore: 5.56mm FFL Status: NFA Manufacturer: Armalite Model: AR-18 Paperwork: No Serial Number: 021
