Luftwaffe Carl Zeiss 12x60 Flak Binoculars
Kicking off our auction here is this beautifully crafted and well-preserved pair of Carl Zeiss 12x60 flak binoculars, originally built for the Luftwaffe. The binocular's finish has been brought up to a striking mirror polish by hand, and they have been mounted onto a meticulously built tripod of wood and metal. The turret rotates freely, as do the viewfinder hinges. The original markings are also present and easily legible, such as "blc Beob.-F12x60" and "Em 4m R 40" . This would make an appealing centerpiece to any Luftwaffe militaria collection!
These Zeiss binoculars were primarily used for spotting enemy aircraft by Luftwaffe Flak Artillery crews and directing fire and crews. The exacting engineering of these made them excellent for field use during many battlefield operations as well.

Winchester M3 Sniper Carbine - Night Scope - 1942-1944 - C&R
Up for auction is a Winchester M1 carbine chambered in 30 cal carbine. Date of manufacture on this rifle is C. 1942-1944 based on its serial number. This particular rifle is unofficially known as the M3 carbine. This rifle is incredibly unique due to its enormous infrared scope and battery backpack. This is one of the first ever night vision sights, being a gen 1 image intensifier tube that relied heavily on supplemental IR light (hence the enormous black spotlight on top of the scope.) all of the accessories for the scope are here, from the plastic case, to the canvas backpack and battery assy. The IR film on the spotlights glass appears to be delaminating, but this is expected for its age. We do not know if the scope itself still works due to the battery that powers in being long dead. A truly historically impactful rifle and a must have for any night vision or M1 carbine enthusiasts.

Siamese Mauser Type 46 - 8x53R - C&R
Up for auction is a Japanese made Type 46 Siamese Mauser chambered in 8x52R Siamese. This rifle is a bit confusing to most collectors since it has a strange fusion of both German Mauser, and Japanese Arisaka elements. The action itself is that of a 98 style Mauser, but it features a Japanese style dust cover, and ejecting floor plate assy just like a type 99. And to top it all off, it has a Tokyo / Kokura arsenal marking on the side ! turns out that these rifles were Japanese made commissions for the kingdom of Siam, these rifle were originally chambered in a proprietary 8x50R Siamese which was an early round nose smokeless powder round. This particular rifle was upgraded by the Siames to 8X53R Siamese which is a slightly longer 8X50R with a pointed Spitzer style bullet. You can tell because the rear sight was ground to accommodate the trajectory of the more flat shooting 8X53R. Every marking on this rifle is written in Siamese, except for the electro penciled SN on the side of the gun. This was required upon import because the ATF does not accent any non-Arabic numerals for serial numbers. These rifles were very popular for gunsmiths to sporterize and convert to 45-70 rifles due to the rimmed nature of the siamese round. Unfortunately due to this there are very few of these rifles still left in original military condition making this rifle a rare bird. A must have for the collectors of strange Mauser variants.
Facing the threat of Western colonial expansionism in Southeast Asia during the later part of the 19th century, King Rama V of Siam (now Thailand), sought new weapons as part of a modernization program to ensure the kingdom's independence. After experiments with other rifles, the Siamese military decided to purchase a Mauser rifle based on the Gewehr 98 design as their principle service rifle.Through various modifications, adaptations, and using various cartridges, the Siamese Mausers served as the main infantry weapon of Siam until after World War II.
