EXTREMELY RARE SPRINGFIELD US MODEL 1930

INTERNATIONAL MATCH SWISS TYPE TARGET STOCK W/ 1928 MFG. RECEIVER. Receiver has S# 1332826. Receiver has gas escape hole on right side. Does not have "Hatcher hole". Mar...moreked on bottom behind recoil lug "C&R" "NS" & partially legible marking which includes a "B 24" & separate "U" shaped mark. Standard dbl. pull narrow smooth trigger. Sear is marked w/ "S". Trigger is marked on left side w/ "R". Mag. cutoff w/ serif letters. Bolt body is marked underneath bolt handle w/ punch proof mark & marking resembling partial ampersand. Marking underneath safety lug appears to be "J". Extractor has gas escape hole & is in the white. Bolt shroud & safety marked "R". Late construction unmarked cocking piece w/ hole. Guard screws are present. One piece walnut Swiss Schuetzen style target stock. Buttplate is not present, but attaching bolt & cross pin are present. Standard military type butt swivel. Forend has dovetailed adj. sliding rail finished in the white. Stock has the same features as pictured on page 135 in "The Springfield 1903 Rifles by Brophy". Thumb rest has stippling. CONDITION: stock has original finish w/ light wear, staining & scattered handling marks. Stock inletting has the appearance of use. 1" Crack on left side extending forward from buttplate. Notable chip on lower edge of cheek piece. Sm. crack & missing chip on right side of forend tip. Metal work retains lg. percentage of dark arsenal rework parkerizing w/ lightly worn receiver rails & scattered sm. handling marks. Receiver threads do not have appearance of bbl. being fitted. Matching Walnut stock set . Boxed "JSA" Inspectors mark on left side. Smooth trap buttplate. CONDITION: Original finish stock set has a few scattered handling marks. Metal retains a very large amount of its original blue including the fire blue on the extractor with scattered small spots of light wear. Very good shiny bore w/sharp lands. MILITARY RIFLE Cal. 30-06. S#114084. Bbl. 24" Barrel marked behind front sight "SA" "flaming bomb" & "2-18". Ladder rear sight w/ flat windage and elevation knobs gradua...moreted to 2850 yards. Blade front sight w/ issue "R" marked sight cover. Straight down bolt handle marked underneath with what appears to be an "8". Narrow smooth trigger. All milled furniture including smooth trap buttplate. Matching Walnut straight grip stock set w/ two reinforcing bolts. Stock is marked on left side over trigger guard with boxed "PODB" and "BAWL" indicating Benicia arsenal rebuild or check and test marking. Two proof marks under grip one is encircled. Green web sling mounted on the stacking swivel as the sling swivel in the lower band is not present. CONDITION: Stock finish is well worn original with numerous handling marks. Finish on handguard does not match buttstock indicating a replacement. Metal has mixed colors of Parkerization indicating arsenal rework. Finish has moderate wear and light oxydation. RIFLE. Cal.30-06. S# 3221613. Bbl. 24" 2 groove barrel marked behind front sight "RA" "flaming bomb" and "7-42". Rifle made during the transition from the model 1903 to ...morethe 1903-A3 rifles. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yards. Flat windage and elevation knobs. Blade front sight. Bolt with swept handle marked on top "BF" and "36". Scalloped Smith Corona bolt sleeve. Cut off is marked "R". All milled furniture except stamped buttplate. Replacement straight grip Walnut stock is marked on the left side with boxed "FJA". Marked under grip with two "P" proofs one is encircled one is not. Stock is made without grasping grooves and has a more rounded contour in the nose area of the buttstock. Handguard has slightly concave profile. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Model 1907 sling with brass hooks. no markings are visible. CONDITION: Stock set has an arsenal rework finish rendering the assembly marks in front of the trigger guard faint. Metal retains a large degree of original finish with wear and handling marks. Dished ...morewindage and elevation knobs. Blade front sight w/ unmarked sheet metal sight cover. Bolt with swept handle is marked on top "N.S.". Receiver has a welded repair in the area of the bridge and cut off spindle showing a seam and grinding marks. Cut off is a heavily polished replacement. All milled furnature including the smooth trap buttplate. Bayonet lug has grind marks. Grooved trigger. Walnut stock set marked only with an encircled "P" under grip. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish with some loss of wood in inletted areas. Metal has been given an arsenal rework finish on all except the barrel and rear sight. Very good shiny bore. Blued finish on exposed metal surfaces. Left side receiver markings include "GEG" proof. Right side markings include patent block above trigger group on receiver. Trigger frame serial number S-18117 matches receiver. Center piece of receiver cut diagonally w/ approximately 1"-1.5" missing, but seems quite complete & in descent condition otherwise. Barrel appears to have been pinned & plugged at chamber. All internal parts appear present including blish lock, trigger group, bolt, charging handle, recoil spring & guide rod. WW2 ISHAPORE NO. 1 MKIII* SMLE RIFLE.

Lot # 2020A (Sale Order: 23 of 665)      

Cal. 303 British. S #24587H. Bbl. 25". Rear sight matches but other parts are mismatched. Right side of socket marked w/ British crown, "G.R.I.", 1943 date & "No. 1 MKIII...more*". Top of Bbl. has five pointed star & a letter "W". Receiver has BNP proof & GRI proof. Left side of receiver has import marking. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Bottom mounted sling swivels w/ canvas SMLE sling. Post war Ishapore nosecap w/ rectangular ears & no provision for stacking hook. Australian made stock set w/ 1942 & 1946 overhaul Lithgow markings on butt. Brass buttplate w/ trap. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Siamese contract P1907 bayonet & scabbard. Blade marked w/ Siamese characters and tiger. Blade is a dull gray patina w/ scattered oxidation staining & light pitting. Crossguard & pommel are dark gray patina w/ light pitting & some oxidation staining. Smooth panel grips appear to be replacements & show light handling wear. Leather scabbard show scattered flaking & crazing. Metal parts of scabbard are a gray patina w/ some green paint & oxidation staining. CONDITON: Lithgow stock set has arsenal rework finish w/ scattered light scratches, dings & handling marks. Metal shows a mix of arsenal blue & black paint finishes w/ thinning on receiver and, a few scattered spots of freckling & light wear. Very good bore w/ some light frosting. Safety is stiff but functional. (22-6173/MJC). CURIO. $300-500.

Blade ...morefront sight w/ protective ears. Reproduction No. 32 MKI scope & mount. Scope has post reticle w/ very good optics. Standard No. 4 stock set w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. MAGS: 1-10 rd. aftermarket detachable. CONDITION: lightly refinished stock set shows some handling marks & dings. Balance of metal has a gray reparkerized finish w/ some pitting at muzzle & scattered oxidation on receiver area. Frosted bore w/ strong rifling. (22-3793/MJC). CURIO. $650-1000.

Cal. 303 Brit. S# OC11156. Bbl. 25 1/2" w/ British sale proofs. Bolt is mismatched, other visible parts unnumbered. Right side of receiver marked w/ "ENGLAND" export stam...morep. Top of left receiver rail marked "U.S. PROPERTY". Left side of receiver marked w/ a double struck flaming bomb & "S No. 4 MKI*". Flip up rear sight w/ 300 & 600 apertures. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Hardwood stock set w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. Canvas SMLE style sling is present. CONDITION: stock set has added oil finish w/ a 1" chip forming at heel, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal is mostly a dull gray patina w/ a large area of dings on magazine, scattered oxidation staining & traces of arsenal blue. Fair bore w/ scattered frosting & light pitting. (22-3615/MJC).
