Fine condition - rifle - 15" part hex, part rnd barrel - walnut straight grip stock, stocked to the muzzle, with raised cheek piece, brass carbine buttplate and shoulder strap ring under the wrist - soft grey slightly mottled metal, patina/brass - Markings: crisp- various proofs and acceptance marks, Tula Arsenal marking on receiver/Soviet refurbishment mark/"1956r" - Sights: front fixed protected - Scarce Military breech-loading needle-gun created by gunsmith Johann Nikolaus von Dreyse, produced in Sommerda factory - main infantry weapon of the Prussians - first breech-loading rifle to use a bolt to open and close the chamber - Yr. Mfg.: 1871 - SN: 246 - Antq - 61389
