1968 Daimler Souvereign

Lot # 433F (Sale Order: 31 of 153)

1968 DAMILER SOVEREIGN Damiler was one of the oldest automobile manufactures in British history. Yes, British. For those who are confused I will explain. Damiler ...more(pronounced Dame ler)-Benz is a German auto maker. Damiler (pronounced Dom ler) is a very very British company formed in 1896. It secured its success by being granted a Royal Warrant to build motorcars for the Royal family in 1902. Early in their history, they were champions of the sleeve valve engine. Though heavy and consumed almost as much oil as gasoline, in 1907, it was a very quiet, vibration free, and reliable. In 1927, Damiler made what might be the finest sleeve valve motor ever with the Double Six V-12. Let’......s jump to post World War 2. Damiler is in tough shape. Their attempt to sharpen their image with the SP-250 sports car was only a modest success. Jaguar needed more capacity for production. A deal was made in 1960. Since the Damiler brand still carried status in the UK, Jaguar continued to build the Damiler line of upscale autos. Jaguar also did some badge engineering. This leads us to the vehicle we have for auction. Our 1968 Damiler Sovereign is based on the Jaguar 420 Saloon. Both used the 4.2 liter version of the world renowned XK twin cam six and just about everything else. The main difference was the market they were after. The Jaguar was for younger more sporting clientele while the Damiler offered more comfort and that would appeal to the older buyer. Daimlers continued to be made until 2007 based on the Ford’......s Jaguars. The brand name is now owned Tata. Though she made need some work, who buys this car will be able to tell an extraordinary story about the British auto industry. ESTIMATE: $10,000-$17,500

1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT

Lot # 434F (Sale Order: 32 of 153)

1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT No Reserve This is a low mileage example of an impressive sports car that is both fast and petty. The Mitsubishi 3000GT represents that comp...moreany’......s flagship model in an era when it was competing with Nissan, Toyota and Honda to produce a sports car with cutting edge performance technology that rivaled the best of Europe. Described as a sports coupe this two-door version with a hatchback has its original red paint job. The interior features deep buckets seats to match its first-rate handling and impressive power. The interior is black and the seats covered with fabric. The cosmetics of this particular car are excellent. This is very much a sports car. The normally aspirated 3-liter DOHC V-6 with 24 valves produces an impressive 222 h.p. in this standard front wheel drive version. It also has a 5-speed manual transmission. It is in excellent running condition having been carefully maintained by one family that has owned and loved this car for almost 25 years. It has always been dealer serviced. Plus, it comes with relatively new tires that have only 5,000 miles of wear. This is one of the most memorable sports cars of the 90s, an era when its competitors were such well respected sports cars as the Nissan 300ZX, the Mazda RX7 and the Honda NSX.

1928 Chevrolet Imperial Landau

Lot # 437F (Sale Order: 34 of 153)

This piece of American automotive history is in superb condition. 1928 was an important year in the development of the American automobile. Just a year earlier Ford intro...moreduced the new Model A and this is Chevrolet’......s response. An elegant and stylish vehicle that outsold the Model A that year even though the chassis would not receive a much anticipated 6-cylinder engine until late in the 1928 model year. For 1928, in looking to the new engine, Chevrolet stretched the chassis by four inches and gave the series a more stylish look. The hood was lengthened with flowing fender lines and smoothly integrated body panels. It is hard to believe that the company would build such an elegant looking car to do battle with Ford in the low-price end of the market. An older design, the very reliable four cylinder engine at 171 cubic inches, gained higher compression, aluminum pistons and a revised carburetor to deliver 35 horsepower. Unfortunately, because the 1928 were a heavier car, performance did not improve. An updraft Carter carburetor is original. Four-wheel brakes were introduced with this model but they were still mechanically activated. The transmission is three speeds and floor mounted as was typical of the era. The four-door Imperial Landau has an elegant style with the body painted in a beautiful, deep Maroon color and a black Landau top. The wood spoke wheels are a natural wood with varnish. The pristine cloth interior is beige, which fits perfectly with the flawless Maroon paint of the body. This particular car is a Vintage Chevrolet Club of America award winner. It is an excellent example of a truly important automotive line. It received a full, ground up restoration over a five-year period to bring it to the highest possible standards. The restoration was done to the original specs for this model. The VCCA awards acknowledge the quality of the restoration. Some of the interesting features of this car are the wooden steering wheel, rear window curtain and matching spare tire. This is an opportunity to own a nicely restored example of a historically significant Chevrolet from the “......Roaring Twenties”......! ESTIMATE: $12,500 - $18,500

1913 Ford Model T

Lot # 440F (Sale Order: 37 of 153)

This is not your standard Model T touring car. This Model T was modified to do a job and as such is a highly collectable variation on a theme. Its sale will also bene...morefit the Saratoga Auto Museum’......s Distracted Driving and Education Programs with any proceeds greater than the reserve amount being donated to those programs. Before the First World War if you wanted to stay at a New England country inn you needed to take the railroad to the nearest train station. Once there you needed to get to the Inn and that is where this unique 1913 Model T known as a “......Depot Hack”...... became so helpful. This Model T received a special custom body capable of carrying between 6 and 7 guests plus luggage and spent its early years hauling vacationers to their New England getaway in New Hampshire. With a special body from the Cotton Buggy Company this vehicle pre-dates the “......woodie”...... or “......station wagons”...... later used for the same purpose. Once its days were done hauling hotel guests, this Model T was put in a barn on the inn’......s property and sat until discovered in the 1950s, so this is an early version of a “......barn find”...... car. This Model T has a well-documented history back to the 1950s and its early resurrection from that barn. The new owner was a Model T and ”......brass era”...... enthusiast and this car is well known in the New England chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. It has done a number of road trips and tours with the HCCA over the years. In fact, the previous owner completed a 260-mile trip only three years ago. It has also won a number of awards in HCCA meets. This unique Model T runs and drives great. At some point a 1927 motor replaced the original engine with an electric starter, which made life much easier for the driver! Of course the engine is still the inline 4 cylinder that put out 20 hp. Brass radiator and headlamps combined with a bulb horn to make this a true “......brass era”...... car. A real opportunity to enter the classic car hobby with a unique classic. 1923 Ford Model T

Lot # 443F (Sale Order: 40 of 153)

1923 Ford Model T Depot Hack The names “......station wagon”...... and “......depot hack”...... did not come into existence by coincidence. In the early days of the auto...moremobile, the only way to get from city to city was by train. A road network had yet to be developed, and automobiles were not feasible for long-distance travel. Quite simply, people took the train, and once they arrived at their destination, there were no rental cars. Taxi cabs were not only expensive, but they did not exist anywhere but in the largest cities. That left the average American with two alternatives: walk or take the street car . . . if there was one. Enter the station wagon. These were typically vehicles sent by hotels to pick up visitors and their baggage to bring them back to the hotel. They were wagons sent to the station or hacks sent to the depot, thus “......station wagon”...... or “......depot hack.”...... This quickly gave rise to a new cottage industry, as wagon builders typically took truck or large-car chassis and added a simple wooden body with many seats and room for luggage. This Depot Hack is in a virtually unrestored condition. With the exception of a starter being added and an early replacement of the floorboards, this T is in nearly original condition. The car has been gone through mechanically and runs like a Model T should. The consignor has purposely left the cosmetics untouched. It rides on brand new blackwall tires. 22 hp, 176 cu. in. side-valve L-head inline four-cylinder engine, two-speed planetary transmission, front and rear solid axles with transverse leaf springs, and hand-operated rear-wheel mechanical brakes. A nice running and driving example, this old woody will set itself apart with its “......original, untouched”...... feel. Estimate: $14,000-$18,000

1964 Porsche 356C

Lot # 451F (Sale Order: 48 of 153)

This 1964 coupe is a restored example of the final development of Porsche’......s iconic 356 series. These are the cars that made Porsche renowned as a creator of highly ...moredesirable sports cars that continues today. With its rear engine, unusual styling and high performance the 356 is regarded as one of the most influential automotive designs in history. This C model represents a major step forward for Porsche with the introduction of full disc brakes and an engine that is far removed from the early VW based engine design. The 356C is important because it is all Porsche and represents the final culmination of development for the “......bathtub”...... Porsches that began in 1948 with a design by “......Ferry”...... Porsche. The car, consigned to the Saratoga Auto Auction, has been in the same ownership for 20-years and has only 61,000 miles. The color is the original factory supplied Ivory White and the four-seat interior has been redone in tan leather, a common upgrade from the original vinyl seats. The Porsche 356C features what was then the revolutionary Porsche air-cooled flat 4-cylinder pushrod engine. A pair of Zenith 32 NDIX carburetors feed the 1600cc engine, which puts puts out some 88hp. The engine is teamed with the highly regarded Porsche 742 fully synchronized four-speed gearbox. As the original Porsche design, the engine is rear mounted on a steel chassis. There are some styling clues, like larger windows and the dual air intakes on the rear lid, that differentiate the 356C from the earlier A and B models but it is the use of disc brakes on all four corners, the first Porsches to have all disc brakes, that makes the C special. Combined with newly dampened steering, stiffened front anti-roll bar and softer torsion bars the C is reputed to be the best handling of the 356 models. This is an excellent example of a popular and coveted sports car that will only continue to be appreciated by its new owner in the coming years. ESTIMATE: $70,000 - $80,000

The truck has been fully restored and is ready for any Nantucket, Newport or Martha’......s Vineyard adventure. Featuring a TDI engine, the truck has loads of torque and bulletproof reliability which is far superior to the gas engine that is fitted in other Land Rovers of the same era. The inside of the bed has been freshly painted, a new canvas top has been fitted. The uses and possibilities for this truck are endless! A Superwinch and Hella Fog Lamps are fitted to the front bumper for any obstacles you might encounter on the trail or on the road. The truck has BFGoodrich tires which are by far one of the best all terrain tires on the market. They are quiet on road and provide excellent traction off-road. This truck is completely rust free, the frame and bulkhead are immaculate. Air Conditioning is an added bonus. This truck drives beautiful on the highway and on backroads, our team of vintage car experts have looked through this car with a fine tooth comb and are confident that whoever buys this truck will be very pleased. This truck is turn-key and ready to be enjoyed! ESTIMATE: $80,000-$90,000
