Steve A. Kaufman (1960-2010) 1990s Large Canvas Marilyn Monroe

IN HOUSE SHIPPING AVAILABLE, CRATED ((Large, Heavy and EXPENSIVE) - Steve Kaufman's silk-screened canvases carry the iconic power of his mentor, Andy Warhol, with a fresh style all his own. For the better part of a decade, the young Kaufman was a friend and apprentice of the great Warhol, gaining such trust from both the artist and his supporters that Kaufman finished a number of Warhol's incomplete commissions after his passing. Presented is Kaufman's ode to Marilyn Monroe in the form of a mixed media giclee/screen print. The artwork background is composed of multi colored arcs over which is screened a black image of her portrait. The outer edges are then finished in black paint to frame the composition. Estate of Marilyn Monroe authorized this work and Kaufman's signature "SAK" is on the verso in black felt tip. The brilliance of the composition is bolstered by the work's enormous size, a stirring 39" x 39". It is numbered #26/50 AP (artist's proof). records I have found imply they were done in the mid 1990s. Overall, one of the finest tributes to Marilyn, bold and colorful.
