Bisque socket head with slender elongated facial shape, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils of aquiline nose, clo...moresed mouth with very full lips in downcast pensive expression, brunette mohair bobbed wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 107 30. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, the model "Karl" from their art character series, from an original 1898 sculpture by the Berlin artist, Lewin Funcke, which he offered to the Kammer and Reinhardt firm for use as a doll's head. Value Points: among the rarest art models by that firm, with especially notable expression, choice bisque, wearing brown flannel uniform jacket with red edging, slacks, shoes and a dandy parade helmet.

A gentleman with pale bisque head, blue glass inset eyes, painted features, closed mouth, white mohair periwig, carton torso and legs in seated pose, wire up...moreper arms, carved wooden lower arms and hands, wearing silk Marquis costume with brocade vest and lace jabot and cuffs is seated on a wooden upholstered arm chair, posed behind a wooden harp with ormolu trim. When wound, he moves his head side to side and leaning forward and back in time to the playing of the harp; he strums his hands realistically up and down the strings of the harp. Melodious music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Jean Roullet, circa 1880. Value Points: well-preserved luxury automaton with pleasing musical background, realistic movements, choice bisque and presentation.

Pink-tinted porcelain shoulderhead with plump face and throat, painted facial features, shaded-blue upper-glancing eyes, thick black upper eyeliner, fringed ...morebrows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, unpierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, plump softly-stuffed poupee body in the classic Rohmer manner, gusset-jointing at hips, kid-over-wooden ball jointed at knees designed to utilize the "sitting" strings from torso, kid-over-wooden upper arms, porcelain arms from above the elbows, separately-sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Mme. Rohmer Brevete SGDG Paris (stamp on torso). Comments: Leontine Rohmer, circa 1857. Value Points: very beautiful early poupee model with superb painting of eyes, original wig, body, matching porcelain arms, and wearing fine original white pique dress with red soutache embroidery which bears the signature of Maria Lusse, the celebrated doll costume designer who operated at 63 Passage Choiseul and, later in 1865, at 4 Rue Rameau in Paris.

Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Simon and Halbig for the French market, circa 1870. Value Points: very luxurious example of the fortune telling doll ("bebe a bonne aventure"), with four tiers of fortunes, antique costume including elaborate jewelry which includes coral cluster with sign of the zodiac.

Value Points: among the rarest of the early Steiner bebe models, few are found today, this being an especially beautiful example with original signed eyes and body, original body finish, wearing lovely antique costume and bonnet, along with 12" l. French doll trunk and with a trousseau of six additional dresses, of which four are antique.

Bisque socket head, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, lushly-painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corne...morers, blushed eyeshadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, separately-modelled pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with plump limbs, beautiful antique costume, undergarments, bonnet, parasol, and Jumeau leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent, retouch on body finish. Marks: Depose Jumeau 20 (incised marking on head, and artist checkmarks) Bebe Jumeau Diplome d'Honneur (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, the largest size created of his bebe, this with rare markings, being the first time his name appeared on the bebe head. It is probable that the doll was created as an exhibition model, appearing either at the Antwerp Exposition of 1885 where Jumeau competed fiercely against German competitors who were copying his dolls, or in the 1884 salon of the French Union des Fabricants de Jouets, of which Jumeau was a charter member and which provided a Paris showroom for French dolls and toys. Value Points: exceptional rarity of the size 20 bebe, no other example with the incised "Depose" marking is known to exist, and with gorgeous bisque and painting, and with original signed Jumeau shoes, marked size 20, with gilt letter markings.

Seated daintily upon a wooden stool on a green velvet -covered platform is a bisque-head lady with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted ...morelashes and brows, closed mouth, pierced ears, brunette human hair hand-tied wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, wearing (frail) factory-original rose silk dress with elaborate metal and bead appliques, matching slippers. When wound, music plays, the lady moves her head up and down in a nodding fashion, then side-to-side, while moving the mandolin up and down in her left hand, and strumming the keys with her right; meanwhile her right leg taps in time to the music. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7 (head) L.B. (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: all-original automaton with gorgeous Jumeau bisque head, (frail) luxury original couturier costume, superb movements and music with gorgeous sound.
