Bisque socket head, very deep amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted dark curly lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroke...mored brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish with some scuffing. Marks: R. 2 D. Comments: Rabery and Delphieu, circa 1885. Value Points: the early period bebe has superb eyes enhanced by exquisite decoration, antique dress with lace trim, quilted ivory satin bonnet, undergarments, brown leather shoes and carrying woven lidded basket.

Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, late 1700s. Value Points: rare plump modeling of features on the young lad, with especially definition of eye sockets and hair, fine original finish.

The table is set with soft metal cutlery on napkins, metal plate, and there are various accessories including clock, framed prints and more. Excellent condition. American Oil-Painted "Columbian Doll" by Emma Adams 1800/2500

All-cloth doll with flat-dimensional facial features, three-seamed head lending a very particular shape of crown, oil-painted complexion, facial features and...more hair, painted blue eyes with all-around eyeliner, single-stroke brows, outlined nose, closed mouth, brown painted curls with scalloped edging around the forehead, stitch-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, oil-painted lower arms and legs, bare feet, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Columbian Doll presented by Emma Adams at the Columbian Exposition of 1892, created in her cottage industry in New York, notably became the first American doll to win the prestigious Gold Medal. Value Points: very artistic and wonderfully-preserved painting in the manner of early American oil paintings. The doll has a blue ribbon award.

Softly-stuffed stockinette baby, stitch-shaped eye sockets, nose and mouth, center chin seam, painted facial features, blue eyes, all-around lashes, defined ...morenostrils, philtrum and lips, blonde yarn stitched-on tight curls, very plump body with stitch jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, defined fingers and toes, antique baby gown and bonnet (likely original). Condition: very good overall, some dustiness, small stockinette tear at right eye brow. Comments: attributed to Julia Beecher, of Elmira, New York, circa 1890, made in the sewing circle of the Elmira, New York, Congregational Church 1893 to 1910, with proceeds donated to missionary groups, thus earning the dolls the name of Missionary Rag Babies. Value Points: rare early American cloth doll with charming folk style and imaginative construction.

Condition: very good overall, some light dustiness. Comments: the doll was patented by Ruth Mackay of Pittsburgh on May 4, 1926, #1583408, simply titled "Head for Rag Dolls" and described as "having a more life-like expression than dolls as heretofore constructed". The doll was marketed as "Baby Sister" and made in the workshops of the Misses Tebbetts, late 1920s. Value Points: rare early cloth doll is seldom found.

All stockinette cloth doll with stitch-shaped facial features depicting a plump-faced child, oil-painted hair, complexion and facial features, light brown ha...moreir with swirled curls, deeply-defined eye sockets and eye lids, shaded blue/brown eyes, rounded nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with primly-set lips, double chin, defined blushed ears, stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, oil-painted lower legs with defined knees and lower arms and hands with unusual curled fingers, antique romper suit, undergarments, stockings and shoes. Condition: fair/good, original finish albeit typical craquelure and complexion fading. Comments: Martha Wellington, of Massachusetts, who patented the doll in 1883; the intricate construction of the doll and its great scarcity today are indicative of very limited production at the time. Value Points: very distinctive construction with compelling presence of the rare American 19th century. Included is his own toy glass-eyed wooden horse by Schoenhut.

Condition: generally excellent, soles of shoes missing. Marks: Kathe Kruse (and other illegible markings on left foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse, the VEB model, as indicated by the red paper label she bears, was used during the early East Berlin years, 1950-1952. Value Points: well-preserved example, with original finish, and wearing original costume comprising blouse, panties, pinafore dress, socks and shoes, with original paper label.
