SERIAL NUMBER: 1444002 DESIGN: This is a Springfield Armory government rifle. It has a barrel marked SA 8/53. The barrel is also marked behind the front sight “EXEL, Gardner, MA.” MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Metal parkerized. Light wood stock, probably Birch. PROVENANCE: This lot was deaccessioned from Carson Long Military Academy which operated in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania from 1863 to 2017. CONDITION: Excellent. The firing pin and ejector are missing. INVENTORY NO./CATEGORY: 5632-009/C&R ESTIMATE: $600-$700
