Fine condition - rifle - 32-5/8" rnd, 3-groove rifling barrel - full length walnut straight grip stock secured with two barrel rings and equipped with cleaning rod, stack swivel, sling swivels, adjustable leather sling, and a smooth US marked iron buttplate; stock remains in very good sound condition with minor handling marks - stock marked with "SWP/1884" cartouche of well known inspector of martial arms Samuel W. Porter and "P" within a circle just behind lower tang - barrel finish turning brown patina balanced to soft grey patina- receiver retains muted case color- lock plate retains bright grey patina - Markings: crisp & legible- barrel marked with "V/P/Eagle head/P", breech block marked "US/MODEL/1873", and lock plate marked with spread wing Eagle & "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1873" - Sights: pinned blade , block forged to barrel/adjustable rear leaf sight graduated from 1 to 5 - Springfield produced 71,700 rifles of this pattern for the Army between 1873-1879 - Serial umber issued to Oregon troops - 3 click tumbler- very good bright and shiny condition with visible rifling- mechanics appear in good working order - SN: 125567 - Antq - 77244
