A beautiful condition antique norwegian doll called a "hardangergirl", her tag says it all.... She is dressed in the costume of the scienic and coloful fjord district of ...morehardanger. In spite of distinct traits of southern european influences, it has kept the norwegian characteristics. The costume is still used in norway at special occasions. And we have a 9" celluloid mint condition example of this traditional costume dress, all hand made and hand painted from the beading on her red cap to the colorful ribbon that adheres her eyelet white apron to the felt dress below. Her facial coloring is vibrant and perfect, as if it was painted yesterday! Truly a rare treat! Value $50-100

Of all the dolls that were a challenge to identify, due to the nature of them having been acquired in the early 1930's directly from the country of origin they represente...mored, there seems to be no others with a wider range in pricing than the dolls of greece. We have here 5, a larger one of approx. 7-8" in height and very highly adorned and 4 smaller pairs if you will. There is a marking from the owner on the dolls, "greece". Very helpful... Not really! The men resemble the soldiers, the tsolias and the evzone. The dolls of this era were nearly all made in greece by evelt and the term themis is most often used in conjunction. Themis is a greek term, for law and order, not for dolls per say. We can assure you that these dolls are from prior to 1930's to no later than 1950's and from the country of greece directly, as our consignor took diligent notes on the items (many dolls) she collected in her travels and she is no longer with us she passed away years ago. We will have another 100 or so more international dolls to offer in upcoming auctions btw, and we have enlisted some higher expert help to identify. Most of the dolls she collected are no longer in existence, at least not in the same league because of the antique era of her collection in comparison. These dolls are beautiful, they are decorative, and they celebrate a time when doll were handmade not manufactured heavily. The greek dolls we end with here, in our research their pricing ranges from $25 to $700. It would require a qualified museum curator who specializes in these countries to really valuate these rare dolls correctly. And in the meantime, the family wants just one thing... It's not about money at all. It's about your interest in the doll of a country you choose here, it's about knowing you'll need to spend some time learning more and that these are truly amazing pieces of history and culture and heritage. And that is what the owner selma fraas wood would want, for you to enjoy them as much as she did!!!

Handmade in the early to mid century no later than the 1940s, this pair of dolls are quite different than the rest of the dolls of our international collection. A matchin...moreg pair, they are both made of composition and hand painted as well as their clothing hand sewn and designed. There is some light chipping on their hand painted red shoes as well as a few minute spots on the boys hair line area. But they are a darling set!!! The boy's clothes tie up, very loosely, and he is adorned with a hand woven large straw hat. The girl has hand sewn middle parted black mohair that is tied up in a colorful scarf, peeking through however are her "gold" hoop earrings. The material is very representative of mexico, almost like a soft muslin. And the girl's dress has hand sewn at the bottom the word "xochimilco" which stands for mexican. Rare and unusual set, and darling children at that! Value $25-100

The wisconsin sesquicentennial committee & the fennimore doll & toy museum presents the "catherine amy dewey doll" - the first lady of the state of wisconsin 1848-1998! T...moreo celebrate wisconsin's 150 year sesquicentiennial celebration a limited edition hand made consigned doll was made, and they choose the beautiful, elegant and inspiration catherine amy dewey. The first lady of teh new state of wisconsin was catherine amy dewey. She was the wife of governor nelson dewey and mother of his 3 children. Daughter of a judge, cahterine had advantages not available to most young women in the early frontier days - private tutors, lovely clothing and nice carriages. Together the dewey's built a mansion, stonefield, north of cassville, set on a two thousand acrew estate along the mississippi rivier - a show place for it's time. Many were employed on the estate workingin it's vineyards, orchards and fields. Eventually however catherin longed for the glamour of high society and left the quiet rural life. For over ten years she traveled to madison, washington d. C and abroad. Catherine amy dewey died in washington d.C. In 1989 at the age of seventy. The fennimore doll & toy museum had this doll created in the likeness of catherine amy dewey for the wisconsin 1848-1998 sesquicentennial celebration by artist donna ackerman, owner of donnas dolls in lancaster mi. All the dolls were limtied edition (this one is #39/750), made of fully jointed body and limbs thus fully poseable and hand painted. She is 21 " tall with auburn hair, brown glass paper weight eyes, eyelashes, a satin like hunter green dress with ecru accents and matching bonnet, and includes a doll stand. The costume is a historically correct design from 1848 following as closely as the availablity of fabric and trimmings allowed. The doll was sold for $300, however they sold out quickly with the price substantially appreciating and this catherine amy dewey was purchased for over $500 at a local charity fundraiser over a decade ago. The new owner, in awe with the mint condition and exquisitie beauty and detail, quickly consigned a hand made glass and wood custom fitted case for her and added the brass name plaque below. The back of the case features a full length removable mirror panel (it slides up and out) to allow for posing and adjustments. This catherine amy dewey doll, #39/750 of the total limited edition sold out dolls, and has been preserved impeccably in her own customized glass display case. She comes also with her original hang tag and the now vintage purchase brochure. (value $1000+)

Rare 1995 1st pleasant company marked 1st american girl of today in her original white box! She has her sealed american girl of today book still too!!! Note this doll and...more the pleasant company doll in lot 32 came from same consignor so we mixed and matched clothing here, mainly because as you can see in pix this doll is not in mint condition. She has been cleaned throughly, however there is some spotting on her front brown cloth body that were were unable to completely eliminate. Pricing will be relective here, and we therefore gave her meet outfit to lot 32. However again she is clean, and besides slightly loose limb legs she does hold a stance and is a rare, darling find! We added for her clothing collection the retired purple asian bitty baby dress w/ matching hairband, shoes and pair of powder pink tights. We also added a retired blue satin silk asian 2 piece pajama set with slippers, and an ag style pair of stretch blue jeans with a dark purple sweatshirt to match a pair of authentic purple american girl pair of zip up boots we had. To top it off, an ag style silver puffy winter white fur coat that is hooded and zippered and super cute!!!! A great collection, mostly american girl/pleasant company, and one that will be super fun to mix and match!!! (value $150-250)

Htf!!! From 2011 comes the retired, brand new face molded "marie grace" from new orleans 1840's!!! An amazingly cute limited edition doll, bff to cecile, marie grace come...mores in her original box with her original outfit on (a pink plaid dress with eyelet edging,white pantalettes, white stockings, and black & white/2-tone button boots)... Note she was very gently used and we actually here at foreverdolls restyled her light brown long hair exactly as it was original with the double back braid and ringlets cascading down the sides of her face and added darling powder pink shimmering heart decorated ribbons to her hair. Besides needing her hair resytled, we did clean her top to bottom and she was very clean already and is now in near mint condition! Her aquamarine eyes sparkle, and again her face mold was made exclusively for her! The box has some dents and roughness to the sides, but is fully intact and perfect for display! And she comes with her box of accessories that are all brand new nrfb!!! She has her white hat with powder pink ribbon ties and bow trim, and still sealed is her authentic off white floral decorative fan with tassells and gold heart shaped locket/necklace. Rare rare rare! Note all these barbies are from one collec...moretor/consigner thus the amazing sealed, never removed from box and mint conditions!!! Nice, large box, 11 1/2"x13 1/2"x3", again never opened and still sealed on the sides shows very light creasing with light creasing to the corners. Pretty peach shades with floral designed box. Grand entrance barbie has long, shiny auburn brown hair that cascades down in large bouncing curls and is twist styled back away from her beautiful face. Her full lips and shadow coloring nearly match her hair, and vibrate colorfully against her very fair skin coloring. She wears a gorgeous delicate shell pink color palette evening gown bringing back "old world charm", decorated with small darker pink flowers, and a light maroon pink trimming that ties up the 3 dimensional roses decorating the bottom of the gown, trimming along her chest and bodice, matching her 3/4 length gloves and tying at the top of her bare shoulders. She has gold post earrings and a white gemmed floral gold necklace, matching shoes and underwear (tho impossible for us to picture, we're going off the box info here), and a fitted doll stand. At foreverdolls our goal is to unite dolls with new loves, new families or mothers or owners who absolutely love them, and will cherish them forever and ever. This is the premise of the rose. And of course romance!!! The rose reinvents barbie as an extraordinary red blossom. She wears a full-length gown of deep red chiffon with an iridescent red/green velvet bodice. The green velvet leaves feature an embossed leaf print pattern, we have tried hard to show this in pictures for you! Resembling soft shimmering petals, the ruby red swirls and folds, enveloping barbie, encircling her, embracing her. Rich red rhinestones shimmer on the skirt like fresh dew drops. A romantic headdress of velvet leaves and rhinestones holds her hair in an amazing swirl updo style, and dark red gloves and shoes are the perfect final compliment. Her lips are like a deep dark wet rose, and her eyes match the green hues of the leaves. A very slight reddish hue can be seen in her deep dark brown hair, as it swirls down in one thick spiral. Although the box has no seals, the doll has never been removed and all original holders are intact. There is a small mar on the back of the box, it apparently was poked by another box corner and shows a small tear. A tribute to a sporting events power, passion and perserverance this barbie wears a crown of translucent "ice" matching her necklace, covered in deep blue hues of velvet faux fur lined coating. Pinned at her waist with a trio of matching budding peach roses, it is amazing how simple a designer can make a barbie and how remarkably magnificent simultaneously. Box is bright and colorful in a vibrant baby blue with bowling balls and pins, confetti and strings and the word "bowl" inside top right to bottom of the box. The doll is still originally tied into the box, the doll has never been removed from box and box shows very little wear at all at corners. Poplar in the 1940's-50's especially during the time barbie originated, we find our bowling barbie styled after the vintage molded faced barbies... It's the ponytail barbie of the day!!! Her features exactuate the vintage ponytail barbie, with dark black molded lashes, bright blue somewhat flirty style eyes, the thin pug nose and a pursed bright red lipsticked mouth. And her shiny long blond hair with curled bangs is tied up in a small stylish red scarf atop her head while the long blond ponytail twirls downward in a large spiral to her mid back. She is dressed in her 2 piece "bowling outfit" and it's her best! Black short skorts and a black collared top with satin canary yellow and baby blue, red trims, black buttons, triangle colorful decals of bowling insignia and a left breasted pocket...
