You do not want to miss this authentic work from Matt Clark, the master of Illustration art. Matt Clark (1903-1972): born in Coshocton, Ohio, he followed in the artistic footsteps of his well-known "Western" magazine illustrator brother, Benton. Growing up surrounded by horses in their father's livery stable, the brothers honed their skills in depicting these animals. Matt's passion for art was fueled by teacher Laura Patterson and her engaging field trips around the historically rich town, formerly an Indian village and later a crucial stop in the Ohio-Erie Canal system. Post-high school, Clark pursued formal art education at the Art Students League, the National Academy of Design art school in New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago, studying under Walter Hasell Hinton. His professional journey began at the Stevens, Sundblom commercial art studio in Chicago, contributing to ads for clients like H.J. Heinz and Packard automobiles. Freelancing for magazines such as "College Humor" and "Judge," he later became a full-time freelancer in the early 1930s, sharing a studio with his brother in Greenwich Village. Renowned for his dry brush watercolor technique, Clark's work graced the pages of publications like "The Saturday Evening Post," "McCalls," "Good Housekeeping," and "Cosmopolitan." While labeled a Western artist, he also illustrated general historical and contemporary adventure fiction. In the 1940s, he settled on a farm in Bucks County, Pa., returning to New York in 1956. In the final phase of his career, Clark's art found a prominent home in the Hearst Sunday supplement, "American Weekly," leaving an indelible mark on the world of illustration. Matt Clark's artworks have sold for very high prices at major auction houses, and even higher in Galleries, around the world. However, this is your chance to own an original work at a much better price than those retail outlets command. "Coca Cola - Wherever Thirst Goes Original", is a wonderful depiction of young woman on a horse holding a Bottle of Coca-Cola, that is saturated with acute detail and vibrant color throughout, making it one of the nicest paintings by Clark we have ever made available. Also, measuring approximately 25” x 22” (archival matted to 24 ½” x 21 ½”) and 33” x 30” with the high-quality, custom frame, the immaculate artwork is of impressive craftsmanship and size. Finally, it has remained in excellent condition since being completed by Clark, is signed in the lower left corner, and comes with a Gallery Letter of Authenticity. So remember again, we have listed this piece with the Submit Best Offer option, meaning it is likely to sell quickly. Matt Clark's art has been exhibited in major museums, and can be found in some of the most prestigious public and private collections across the globe.
