VanDerBrink Auctions will offer the Jasper, MN School along with its contents and land in an Online and Absentee bidding auction Only. The Jasper, MN School hold many memories to hundreds of students through the years. As a cheerleader at Garretson, SD I remember cheering below the gym floor and hoping that a ball player didn’t land on you. This school graduated hundreds of people and created memories for many. The Jasper School is one of many structures that is built from Quartzite block that is mined from the Jasper Stone Company. The school was built in approx. 1917 from these large Quartzite blocks. The block is beautiful and can be used for many uses. Many of the buildings on Main Streets in the area have been built from the Quartzite blocks. The Rock is highly desirable for landscaping, building frontages, and also used in roads, and more. This Jasper School has the majority of the building in this pink quartzite block with several attached modern buildings and additions. The School has been closed for over 10 years and has not had any upkeep or maintenance. The School has 3 levels with stairways that lead to classrooms, offices, along with bathrooms. The original High School area of the Old building has attractive stairways, doors, glass blocks, and more. These could be salvaged and repurposed for many uses. The exterior of the building is very pretty and the quartzite block. This could be repurposed or it would be wonderful to see this beautiful building restored and used for another use. The school gym is still there will the original gym floor, buckled in some areas, along with the scoreboards, stage curtains, and theatre seating. The classrooms have had some of the slate blackboards removed off the walls and leaning to be taken out, others are still on the walls. The school still has decks, AV equipment, and other treasures that could be found. The Boiler is still there but has not been used for years. There has been water in the boiler area. The kitchen is there, but most all of the stainless has been removed. The Ag Shop has some equipment, tools, and desks. The building has a flat roof that has had portions that have fallen in and allowed water to get into some of the lower levels and causing water damage. There is mold in some of these areas. The previous owner built an apartment in one of the upper areas. The property has broken windows, doors, and some areas that require extensive repairs. The school is located on approx. 2.11 acres that is trees, tar, and still has the playground equipment. There is a small portion that is owned by the city for the water tower.
