28" round - blue to patina The bbl & bands retain a soft smooth molten brown patina The receiver exhibits a soft smooth plum patina Mechanics are crisp - Stocks: full walnut stock w/steel butt plate Wood is in excellent condition, with minor handling marks; This stock was originally inletted at the bottom for a sling swivel, with inletting professionally filled in, possibly at the factory; the inletting for the tang of the trigger guard was also oversized and filled in at the same time to accommodate the narrower tang as found on the Cadet Rifle... according to Remington Firearms: The Golden Age of Collecting - Sights: square base front sight with a small carbine style 2-position flip rear sight - Markings: legible; navy inspector markings "P/FCW" on right side of frame - left side of frame marked "REMINGTONS ILION NY USA/PAT. MAY 3D NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866" Both barrel bands marked with a "U" - A very scarce little cadet rifle, weighing in at a mere 5.75 lbs. According to Flayderman's, produced by Hartley & Co., who owned Remington at the time, this gun is built on the 1867 pistol action. Mounted with smooth, straight grain, American walnut with full length forearm. This rifle is equipped with a steel nose cap and is fastened with two solid bands that have spring keepers. Upper band is fitted with a sling loop with corresponding sling loop mounted in trigger guard. Bottom of forearm is grooved & contains a button head ramrod. According to Flayderman’s Guide to Antique American Firearms, only about 1,000 of these cadet rifles were produced around the turn of the 20th century by Hartley & Co. of New York. US Springfield Model 1884 .45-70

12" round - patina about 20% blue remains on breech door & receiver balance to soft gray patina - Stocks: walnut half stock with steel butt plate - Sights: - Markings: Crisp - "U.S." / "SPRINGFIELD" with eagle trademark on lock plate; "U.S." / "MODEL" / "1884" on top of breech door; SN on top of frame; "V" / "P" / over eagle's head / "P" on top of bbl at breech; - This interesting gun, with its crowned muzzle, & smooth bore is a line thrower, according to the seller. Being very rare, it was used by the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard , Merchant Marines and other organizations to throw rescue lines over the bow of disabled ships. It shoots a brass bolt attached to a rope, in a can that fastens to the end of the barrel, via .45 caliber blanks. The Buffington leaf is missing, but base is intact. Serialization shows that the frame was made in '82, the breech door is stamped Model 1884. May be a replacement door. 32 5/8" round - military brown turning gray patina around edges - Stocks: dark walnut full stock heavily marred - Sights: fixed block front sight; rear sight has been removed - Markings: "US / MODEL / 1873" on door; SN on top of frame; Eagle & "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" trademark on right side - This and many other model 1873s were altered with brass bbl bands, cock, frizzen, & frizzen spring, to look like a flint lock for use in the major motion pictures "The Charge of the Light Brigade" starring Errol Flynn, "The Man from the Alamo" starring Glen Ford, "Untamed West" starring Tyrone Power, & "Fort Ti" starring George Montgomery.
