Cheyenne Painted Buffalo Hide War Drum c. 1890-

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 511)      

This is an original authentic Cheyenne Native American Indian stretched rawhide War Drum from circa 1890-1910. The Late-19th Century Indian Wars period piece features a geometric mineral painted design in black, red and green on both sides. The drum shows an excellent Indian tanned Buffalo hide that had been skinned, wetted, and stretched. The hide is over a bent wood plank with sinew sewn supports. The museum quality artifact is in excellent condition and displays wonderfully. Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned collector and foremost expert on war clubs and tomahawks, Mark Francis. The Francis collection piece has been authenticated and is truly a museum quality important artifact. Drum measures 19” in diameter and 4.75"D.

This is a Navajo sterling silver concho belt. The belt features 14 conchos and buckle. Each piece was hand crafted and is set with a beautiful Sleeping Beauty Turquoise cabochon. The concho belt is in good condition. They measure 1.25" x 1.5" and the belt measures 45" long.

This is a Navajo sterling silver and turquoise bolo tie. The slide features a beautiful inlay design with coral, turquoise and onyx. At the center of the slide is a fantastic Morenci Turquoise cabochon. The back of the slide is marked "Sterling" and is signed "NG". The Navajo bolo tie is in good condition. The slide measures 2" x 3.25".

Harrington & Richardson Style Handcuffs with Keys

Navajo Ganado Pattern Wool Trade Rug Mid 20th C.

This is a Navajo Native American Indian wool trade rug with a Ganado Pattern. Located southwest of Crystal in the geographical center of the Navajo Reservation the Ganado style of weaving was established by Lorenzo Hubbell in late 1800. The rug shows a combination of many great geometric patterns with colors such as red, dark brown, light brown, white/cream, and grey. The rug appears to be in good condition (review pictures for condition) and is from the mid 20th century. Measures 16 3/4" W x 37" L

Larue County Kentucky Indian Stone Spade Artifact

This is a stone spade artifact from Central Kentucky. The spade is made from limestone was recovered in Larue County, Kentucky. The piece came from the Charles McSherry collection has been examined by Central Kentucky Relics and found to be an authentic artifact. A certificate of authenticity comes with the piece. The spade artifact measures 5.25" x 13.25".

Navajo Wide Ruins Patterns Rug c1950 Jennie Thomas

Lot # 16 (Sale Order: 16 of 511)      

This is an exceptional Navajo Native American Indian wool trade rug with a wonderful Wide Ruins Pattern by master weaver, Jennie Thomas. The piece is from the mid 20th century and shows a very tightly woven wool construction with pigment dyed rich pastel coloring. Jennie Thomas is considered one of the premier master weavers of the 20th century. Her work has been categorized as extremely finely woven and of incredible detail, with this piece being a wonderful example of the same. The rug shows little to no wear and displays very well. Previously sold representations of her works have been placed in the $10,000 to $20,000 range. Currently one of her examples is offered for sale by Cultural Patina for $12,500. Measures overall 61" L x 36" W

This is a tightly hand woven and hand dyed Navajo Native American Indian Chief Blanket Pattern. Chief's blankets typically show large cross like motifs with a strong pattern and would have been displayed in the Chief's Tent or worn on a Chief's shoulders. Other 19th century examples of the Chiefs Blanket can been seen in early photographs showing the rugs draped around such great Indians as Chief Joseph, Sitting Bull and others. The rug shows great condition. This is truly a wonderful 20th century Navajo creation and shows exceptional quality. This measures 48" L x 28" W. Similar quality pieces carry a gallery price tag exceeding $4000-$6000. Originally purchased for over the estimate.

Platte River Crow & Sioux War Club Head 19th C.

Lot # 20 (Sale Order: 21 of 511)      

The lot features two authentic Crow and Sioux Native American Indian skull cracker war club heads. The artifacts were recovered at the Platte River site of a documented battle between the Crow and Sioux tribes in the 19th century. Both artifacts show a solid stone construction with the proper drill and ground marks indicative of their 19th century age. Each has a deep full notch along the center. The larger of the two has a more pointed construction and would have been more potent. The small war club head shows a more rounded styling, but was equally as potent when wielded properly. Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned collector and foremost expert on war clubs and tomahawks, Mark Francis. The Francis collection piece has been authenticated and verified. The larger piece measures 1 7/8" in diameter and is 6.25" long. The smaller one measures 1.75" in diameter and is 4.25" long.
