Seecamp D.A. Converted Colt Commander Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 1009 (Sale Order: 10 of 910)

serial #13586LW, 45 ACP, 4 1/4" Colt barrel with an excellent bore. Ludwig Wilhelm Seecamp patented a conversion for the venerable 1911 pistol allowing them to fire double / single action along with several other innovated inventions such as his telescoping recoil system for short-slide short-recoil pistols. Mr. Seecamp worked his magic on this Commander which still retains about 97% factory blue on the slide exhibiting high edge wear and handling marks. The frame has later applied brushed nickel finish with about 97% remaining and displaying scattered light scratches, operational wear and a few minor dings. The aftermarket smooth hardwood grips rate about very good plus with a few minor scuffs, minimal handling wear and one section of the right panel with a chemical stain that has compromised the finish. The pistol features a 1911 smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, hooked triggerguard, relief cut on the left panel for easier magazine release, "LWS" initials on the left front of the triggerguard and a Miniature Machine Corporation white outline adjustable rear sight. The beauty of this conversion is the double action system allows "condition two" mode of carry for those that prefer that method or the pistol can be carried in the more traditional "condition one". It is estimated that only about 2,000 conversions were made by Mr. Seecamp before ceasing manufacture in the early 1980's. (88100-85) {MODERN} [Walter "Walt" Rauch Collection]
