Royal Enfield 535 Lightning Combination

Lot # 103 (Sale Order: 3 of 71)

The Royal Enfield Bullet was originally a British overhead valve single cylinder four-stroke motorcycle made by Royal Enfield in Redditch, Worcestershire, now produced by Royal Enfield Motors, the successor to the British company, at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in India. The Royal Enfield Bullet has the longest production run of any motorcycle having remained continuously in production since 1948. The Bullet marque is even older, and has passed 75 years of continuous production. The Royal Enfield and Bullet names derive from the company's links with the Royal Small Arms Factory in Enfield, London. Enfield India Ltd. continued production of the 1955 Bullet design almost unchanged, re-introducing it to the British market in 1977 under the name 'Enfield'. The vendor tells us that this lovely Royal Enfield/ Cozy Sidecar combination is in excellent condition. Quite a few extras, including a tonneau cover for the side car.

Vauxhall Viva SL

Lot # 106 (Sale Order: 6 of 71)

The HB Viva was announced in September 1966 and sold until 1970. It was a larger car than the HA, and featured "Coke bottle styling". It had the same basic engine as the HA, but enlarged to 1,159 cc, but with the added weight of the larger body the final drive gearing was reduced from 3.9:1 to 4.1:1 to keep the nippy performance. The HB used a completely different suspension design from the HA, having double-wishbone and coil springs with integrated telescopic dampers at the front, and trailing arms and coil springs at the rear. Lateral location and anti-squat of the rear axle was achieved using upper trailing arms mounted at approximately 45° fixed to lugs at the top of the differential. Both front and rear could also be fitted with optional anti-roll bars. The HB set new standards for handling in its class as a result of the adoption of this suspension design, where many of its contemporaries stuck with leaf springs and MacPherson struts. The example offered here is described by the vendor to be in excellent all round condition with over 35 MOTs which appear to verify the 26,000 miles showing on the odometer. This car comes with only 3 former keepers and a large history file with many old Service Bills, over 150 pictures of work carried out, its original Hand Book, and a build sheet and five advertising brochures. Minilite style wheels are fitted to the car but the original steel wheels and hub caps are included in the sale. A superb starter classic, or for the serious low mileage collector.

Ford Capri 2.0 ltr Ghia

Lot # 107 (Sale Order: 7 of 71)

The Capri Mk III was introduced in March 1978, and sold very well initially. The new styling cues, most notably the black "Aeroflow" grille and the "sawtooth" rear lamp lenses echoed the new design language being introduced at that time by Ford of Europe's chief stylist Uwe Bahnsen across the entire range. Similar styling elements were subsequently introduced in the Cortina, the Escort Mk III and the Granada. In addition, the Mk III featured improved aerodynamics, leading to improved performance and economy over the Mk II, and the trademark quad headlamps were introduced. The bonnet's leading edge was pulled down over the top of the headlamps, making the appearance more aggressive. At launch the existing engine and transmission combinations of the Capri II were carried over, with the 3.0 S model regarded as the most desirable model, although the softer, more luxurious Ghia derivative with automatic, rather than manual transmission, was the bigger seller of the two V6-engined models. The vendor states that this Capri has been in the same family for many years. The property of an elder member of the family, it has been stored for years in their garage, and has now been re-commissioned and has just passed its MOT. The car drives extremely well, and is very usable and quiet. It features the original carpets and seats in great condition, the body is very straight, paintwork is generally very good, and with a little TLC this Capri could be made immaculate. A new water pump was fitted after storage as the bearings had dried out.The car has matching chassis and engine numbers, and is definitely one for the future. It comes with spare keys, all documents, a workshop manual and original Ford Capri Owners Manual.

Jaguar XJS V12 HE Cabriolet

Lot # 108 (Sale Order: 8 of 71)

The XJS was launched in 1975, and whilst the fabulous V12 engine could deliver outstanding performance, its thirst for petrol was legendary. This promoted the first big change for the model, which was the new HE or High Efficiency engine in 1981. This combined with the much longer final drive, gave the XJS much better fuel economy, which was bearable. The Jaguar XJS offers its owners a slice of motoring history, defying critics to become one of the world's most successful GT cars. From the introduction of the HE engine in 1982, the 3.6 AJ6 engine in 1984, which expanded to four litres in 1989, the Cabriolet in 1985, the full Convertible in 1988 and the Face Lift model in 1993 to the final commemorative model in 1995, the XJS was continuously developed during its 20 year production life. The vendor states that this car has had 6 previous owners, but has been family owned since 1998 by the last 4. There is Service History from 1987 to 2001, then the car was put in storage until 2011, when it was recommissioned, MOT'd and Serviced. It was then put back into storage until 2016 when it was MOT'd again and then put back in storage until it was MOT'd again in 2017.The paintwork is good, with a few age related marks, and the car is very solid underneath. The Targa tops have recently been recovered, and also a new window stitched into the rear hood. The mileometer stopped working in 2011 but car has only covered a maximum of 100 miles since then.

Citreon CX25 GTI Turbo 2

Lot # 109 (Sale Order: 9 of 71)

The Citron CX is an executive car produced by the French automaker from 1974 to 1991. Citron sold nearly 1.2 million CXs during its 16 years of production. The CX was voted European Car of the Year in 1975. The name CX is the French equivalent abbreviation of Cd for drag coefficient in English, drawing attention to the car's aerodynamic styling, which was uncommon in 1974.It is considered by some enthusiasts as the last "real Citron" before Peugeot took control of the company in 1976. The CX was also the final successful model of the "big Citron" era, which began in 1934.This low mileage example of the highly desireable GTI Turbo 2 is described by the vendor to be in superb condition, and to have just sailed through an MOT. This vehicle was the subject of an Auto Express article in 1993 and a Classic Car Weekly 'Chasing Cars' article in 2007, both of which gave glowing verdicts on the car. The car comes with full history to verify the mileage of 70,000 and to show that it has only covered about 1,000 miles in the last 10 years. As the last Classic Car Weekly article states, this is probably the best original example left on the road today.

Daimler Sovereign

Lot # 110 (Sale Order: 10 of 71)

In late 1979, the Jaguar XJ range was facelifted, and re-named as the XJ Series III. Using the long-wheelbase version of the car, the XJ incorporated a subtle redesign by Pininfarina. Externally, the most obvious changes over the SII were the thicker and more incorporated rubber bumpers with decorative chrome only on the top edge, flush door handles for increased safety, a one-piece front door glass without a separate 1/4 light, a grille with only vertical vanes, reverse lights moved from the boot plinth to the larger rear light clusters and a revised roofline with narrower door frames and increased glass area. There were three engine variants, including the 5.3 lt V12, the 4.2 lt straight-six and 3.4 L straight-six. The larger six-cylinder, and V12 models incorporated Bosch fuel injection which was made under licence by Lucas. 132,952 Series III cars were built, 10,500 with the V12 engine. This Daimler Sovereign is said by the vendor to be in great condition, both inside and out. The car has Full Service History, which supports the low mileage. The Daimler has all the extras of the the XJ range, including Alloy Wheels and Power Steering. Whilst you enjoy driving this wonderful example, a car of this specification and condition can only appreciate in the future.

Mercedes 350SL Manual

Lot # 111 (Sale Order: 11 of 71)

The Mercedes 107SL was introduced in 1971 and continued along the same basic design principals as the 113 Pagoda, but was a little bigger and wider than the Pagoda. The disappearing hood mechanism, with the removable hard-top, remained and the engine options now included the 3.5 litre V8, which powered the new saloon range. The 107SL was a hugely successful model, which remained in production for 18 years, largely unchanged. Engine options expanded to include a 2.8 and in 1986 a 3.0 straight six and V8's, which expanded to 5.6 litre by the end of the production run in 1989, when it was replaced by the new 129SL.This early example 350SL, and is fitted with a four speed manual gearbox. It was recently imported from France has a Nova and is ready for UK registration. It is the rare manual example which is described by the vendor as running well, in good solid condition with soft and factory hard top. The car does need a n/s/r brake caliper.

Jaguar S-Type

Lot # 112 (Sale Order: 12 of 71)

The Jaguar S-type 3.8 litre appeared alongside the 3.4 version at the cars launch in 1963. The new S-type owed much to its MKII stable-mates as well as the much larger MKX of the same period. The S-type was aimed at Jaguar drivers looking for slightly more sophistication than was offered by the MKII and the cars independent rear suspension and different styling cues highlighted the luxury side of the cars character and played down the sporty image of the MKII.The 3.8 version of the S-type provided sparkling performance and could reach a maximum of 125mph. The S-type used a modified Mk II bodyshell, which had unique front and rear styling and included a sumptuous interior. Production of the S-type ceased in 1968 when its replacement, the 420, arrived. The Jaguar S-Type Manual 3.4 offered here is described as a restoration project. It is the desirable Overdrive version, with only two owners from new, and comes with log books and history. The interior is original in light blue leather with matching door cards. Stored for many years when it was driven into the garage, and it is ready for the enthusiast to restore. The vendor is hoping to get the car running before the auction. The engine and gearbox are the originals.

Ford Cortina Mk2

Lot # 113 (Sale Order: 13 of 71)

The second incarnation of the Cortina was designed by Roy Haynes, and launched on 18 October 1966, four years after the original Cortina. Although the launch was accompanied by the slogan "New Cortina is more Cortina", the car, at 168 in long, was fractionally shorter than before. Its 2 1?2 inches of extra width and curved side panels provided more interior space. Other improvements included a smaller turning circle, softer suspension, self-adjusting brakes and clutch together with the availability on the smaller-engined models, for the UK and some other markets, of a new five bearing 1,300 cc engine. In August, the 1,300 received a new crossflow cylinder head design, making it more efficient, while a crossflow 1,600 replaced the 1,500. The Cortina Lotus continued with its own unique engine, although for this generation it was built in-house by Ford themselves. The Cortina was Britain's most popular new car in 1967, a goal that Ford had been trying to achieve since it set out to create the original Cortina back in 1962. For 1969, the Mark II range was given subtle revisions, with separate "FORD" block letters mounted on the bonnet and boot lids, a blacked out grille and chrome strips on top and below the taillights running the full width of the tail panel marking them out.The vendor says that this very desirable Mk2 Cortina is in very good condition,. The body is straight, does not appear to have any rust, it runs well and the interior, including the lovely bench seat, is very original. The chrome is all very good, the original wheels are in very good condition, this is a starting point for a very good car.

BMW 840 CI Sports Auto

Lot # 114 (Sale Order: 14 of 71)

Design of the 8 Series began in 1984, and debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1989. The 8 Series was designed to move beyond the market of the original 6 Series. The 8 Series had substantially improved performance, however, as well as a far higher purchase price. The 8 Series offered the first V-12 engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox on a road car. It was the first car to feature CAN bus, a form of multiplex wiring for cars that is now an industry standard. It was also one of the first vehicles to be fitted with an electronic drive-by-wire throttle. The 8 Series was one of BMW's first cars, together with the Z1, to use a multi-link rear axle.Sales of the 8 Series were affected by the economic problems of the early 1990s, and BMW dropped the 8 Series from the North American market in 1997, having sold just 7,232 cars in seven years, but continued in Europe until 1999. Total production amounted to 31,062 cars. Our vendor tells us that he believes that the car has had only 3 owners, and his family ownership stretches back 6 years. The car is said to be in very good condition, and has a full history with it. The car has only done about 5,000 miles in the last 7 years, and has been in storage for the last three years. It has however been maintained and MOTd during this time. The car has recently been clay bar cleaned, and is fitted with a tracker. BMW 8 Series are now becoming very desirable, this car represents excellent value for money.

Fiat 500 Giardiniera Estate

Lot # 115 (Sale Order: 15 of 71)

The 500 Giardiniera (500 K on some markets) estate version of the Fiat 500 is the longest running model. The engine is laid under the floor of the boot to create a flat loading surface. The roof on this model also stretches all the way to the rear, not stopping above the driver and front passenger as it does in other models of the same period. The Giardiniera also features "suicide doors" and was the only model to continue to use this door type into the 1970s. In 1966 production was transferred to Desio where the Giardiniera was built by Fiat subsidiary Autobianchi. A total of 327,000 Giardinieras were produced, later examples having Autobianchi rather than Fiat badging. The example offered here is described by the vendor to be in fabulous condition throughout Left Hand Drive but UK registered having been imported from Southern Italy in early 2015. Stunning in every respect it is quite simply a turn the key and enjoy car with no expense for the foreseeable future. Round speedo, full length sunroof, suicide doors. original jack and tool kit. Showing 70,000 kilometres (44000 miles) we are unable to warrant but given the cars overall condition and the way the car runs see no reason to disbelieve.

BMW 2002

Lot # 121 (Sale Order: 21 of 71)

Helmut Werner Bnsch, BMW's director of product planning, and Alex von Falkenhausen, designer of the M10 engine, each had a two litre engine installed in a 1600-2 for their respective personal use. When they realized they had both made the same modification to their own cars, they prepared a joint proposal to BMW's board to manufacture a two litre version of the 1600-2.At the same time, American importer Max Hoffman was asking BMW for a sporting version of the 02 series that could be sold in the United States. As per the larger coupe and 4-door sedan models, the 2.0 engine was sold in two states of tune: the base single-carburetor 2002 producing 101 bhp and the dual-carburetor high compression 2002 ti producing 119 bhp. The 2002 Automatic, with the base engine and a ZF 3HP12 3 speed automatic transmission, became available in 1969.This 1971 BMW 2002 auto round light version is described by the vendor as a very reliable classic that starts and runs very well. The Interior is said to be very nice for its age. The car is showing 73,000 miles, which is believed by the vendor to be correct. The webasto sunroof is a bit worn but does not leak, and there is a minor scrape on the lower rear wing. This is a good, useable classic.

Ferrari 308 GTS

Lot # 123 (Sale Order: 23 of 71)

The Ferrari 308 GTB Berlinetta and Targa topped 308 GTS are V8 mid-engined, 2-seater sports cars manufactured from 1975 to 1985, and replaced the Dino 246 GT and GTS in 1975.The 308 had a tube frame with separate body. The engine was a V8 of a 90 degree configuration, with belt-driven twin overhead camshafts per cylinder bank. It was transversely mounted in unit with the trans-axle transmission assembly, which was below and to the rear of the engine's sump. All models used a fully synchromesh 5-speed manual and a clutch-type limited slip differential. Suspension was all-independent, comprising double wishbones, coaxial coil springs and hydraulic dampers, and anti-roll bars on both axles; four wheel vented disc brakes were also fitted. Steering was unassisted rack and pinion. The 308's body was designed by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, who had been responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated shapes to date such as the Daytona, the Dino and the Berlinetta Boxer. The 308 used elements of these shapes to create something very much in contrast with the angular GT4. GTS models featured a removable roof panel with grained satin black finish, which could be stowed in a vinyl cover behind the seats when not in use.Built in 1979, this 308 GTS was delivered to its first owner by Cressman/Baumgarten Ferrari, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in April 1980. It was then imported from Savannah, Georgia in 2014. This Ferrari 308GTS is the more desirable carburettor model and is described by the vendor as presented beautifully in its original colour of Rosso Corsa with black leather with red inserts and new red carpets; this is certainly the most iconic and striking of colour combinations. The Ferrari 308GTS is quite rare and the most powerful of all the models. The car has had little use since its import in 2014 but was given new timing belts and a service in January of this year which included re-commissioning the brakes and cleaning the carburettor jets. It is supplied with the US title, a NOVA which confirms the import duties have been paid, a UK MoT test certificate which expires in August 2018, the handbook and the original service booklet. With only 69,000 miles on the clock, this lefthand drive Ferrari 308 GTS is a very usable car which one can easily settle into driving. This is a great example with the right specification which will benefit as future values rise for the purity of Fioravanti's original concept. Since the service the car has developed a minor fault with the electric windows which are currently not operational.

1971 Lotus Elan Sprint Convertible Big Valve

Lot # 124A (Sale Order: 25 of 71)

This stunning 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint convertible with the Big Valve engine has the most comprehensive and detailed history that could ever be wished for ( three folders full) starting from when the car was in build. It is finished in yellow with black leather, mohair roof, and tonneau cover, and has covered 102,000 miles. The car was first supplied by Hexagon of Highgate to a Mr Gibson of Wetstone N20, who owned the car until December 1973, when it was sold to a Mr Pankhurst of Reigate, Surrey. He kept the car for 32 years, then custodianship passed to Mr Colin Webb, who only kept HMH 168K for two years before passing it on to his brother Robert in 2007. It is quite obvious that the car has always been maintained on a no expense spared basis. There is just too much to list, but it is fair to say that as and when anything needed to be replaced, it was carried out with the best available at the time, and with a recognised specialists. Having always changed hands between friends and family, this is the first time the car has been offered on the open market. This amazing example has to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated. It comes with complete documentation from production line to date, hand books, workshop manual, service book both keys and HPI certificate showing clear past history.
