Smith & Wesson .38 Chief's Special Revolver

Lot # 1001 (Sale Order: 2 of 901)

serial #61, 38 S&W Special, 2" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is an extremely early revolver which features the old style rounded half-moon front sight. This is a five screw round butt revolver with flat latch. The checkered walnut grips with silver S&W medallions are about mint. The revolver comes in an original period red two-piece box with end label reading correct except for "3 Inch" barrel. A very rare and high condition early two-digit Chief's Special revolver. (18422-3) {C&R}

Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolver

Lot # 1008 (Sale Order: 9 of 901)

serial #66362SA, 45 Colt, 4 3/4" factory replacement barrel with an excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this lovely revolver retain about 99% factory nickel plate with a faint turn ring on the cylinder and a few minor handling marks. The unmarked checkered synthetic factory "eagle" grips with oval Colt logo rate excellent. All appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun and function is excellent. The backstrap is a replacement that has had the original number "X'd" out and renumbered to the gun with a different size font. There are no factory rework marks but a factory letter dated August 29, 2016, indicates this revolver left the factory as described except with a 7 1/2" barrel. It further states that three guns, including this one, were shipped on March 26, 1973 to Cullum & Boren Sporting Goods, 1144 Quaker St., Dallas, Texas. Other paperwork provided indicates the gun was converted to 4 3/4" but does not indicate if it was done by the factory but the work is certainly factory quality. The revolver includes a factory "stagecoach box" that rates about good with repaired corners, fraying and separating edges and storage wear. The box is labeled in red marker for a 7 1/2" barrel .45 on one end but the other end was written over in ink to 5 1/2". The box is not numbered but it is likely that this may be the original box. Overall, the gun remains in excellent condition and would make a great start up gun for the budding collector or a real nice handling sixgun for the Cowboy action shooter. (88467-3) {C&R}
