Smith & Wesson Model 640 Centennial Revolver

Lot # 1025 (Sale Order: 26 of 901)      

serial #CEN0013, 38 Special, 1 7/8" barrel with an excellent bore. This is an early production revolver featuring Mr. Jinks low factory serial number and has several factory rework marks. An interesting aside, this is one of two guns accidently shipped to AcuSport in error and Mr. Jinks asked them to return it as it bears his special factory serial number. The stainless steel surfaces rate near excellent with a few light scattered scratches on the sideplate and a light turn ring on the cylinder. The smooth combat trigger retains full hard chrome finish. The smooth walnut factory Magna grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent. The revolver includes the original factory box that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun, an unopened cleaning kit, manual and paperwork. There is an AcuSport shipping label to Roy Jinks attention on the box. The paperwork includes a factory disposition sheet plus (3) S&W and AcuSport shipping invoices that indicate this revolver was returned to the factory on February 14, 1992 at Mr. Jinks request and later sold to him by Smith & Wesson on February 19, 1992. This is one of two guns accidently shipped to AcuSport bearing Mr. Jinks special factory number and he asked them to return it. The stainless steel surfaces rate excellent with a light turn ring on the cylinder. The service hammer and smooth combat trigger retain full hard chrome finish. The un-numbered smooth rosewood factory Magna grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent. This little J frame includes a factory shipping box that is correctly end labeled and numbered to the gun, factory hard case, cleaning rod, bore brush, bore mop, hang tag, manual and paperwork. There is an AcuSport shipping tag on the box to the attention of Roy Jinks. The factory disposition sheet and an AcuSport shipping invoice indicate this revolver was returned to the factory on February 14, 1992 at Mr. Jinks request and Smith & Wesson later sold it to him on February 19, 1992. Smith & Wesson Model 29-5 Magna Classic 1 of 3000 Revolver

serial #MAG0013, 44 Magnum, 7 1/2" full barrel with an excellent bore. This revolver has Roy Jinks special factory number and remains in grand condition. The metal surfaces retain about 99% plus factory blue finish with a faint turn ring on the cylinder. The .400" target trigger and .500" target hammer retain robust color case-hardened colors. The smooth walnut finger groove factory combat grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent. The rear sight is a factory white outline adjustable but the front sight can be easily changed to various configurations with a red ramp currently installed. The right side of the barrel is marked "29 Magna Classic / 1 of 3000". It is displayed in a recessed panel hardwood presentation case that rates excellent with a few minor handling marks. The recessed cover has a gold embossed S&W logo on maroon leatherette background. The French fitted red cloth lined interior has a cut out for the revolver and a black leatherette slider box with seven assorted spare front sights. Also provided is a factory certificate outlining the guns features with a space for the registered owner which is not filled out and a key for the case. The stainless steel surfaces rate near excellent with a few minor scratches. The grooved synthetic grips rate excellent. The pistol features Millett fully adjustable rear sight and red colored ramp front sight. The pistol includes the original factory box correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun, a single magazine, spare 6" factory barrel, manual and paperwork. Ruger Single Six Flat Gate Revolver

serial #581, 22 LR, 5 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. Like many of his generation, one of the first guns purchased by Roy Jinks was the iconic Ruger Single Six. This 1954-made gun retains about 95% factory blue and anodized finishes with light high edge wear, handling marks and most of the loss to the finish due to thinning along the topstrap to a copper-brown color. The checkered synthetic factory grips with black Ruger Phoenix rate excellent. In addition to the flat gate this revolver has a very low serial number and features the early rounded non-serrated front sight. The revolver includes an un-numbered factory box the is correctly labeled to the gun, manual and paperwork. This gun was presented to Roy Jinks by the president of Charter 2000 for his ongoing service as an ambassador to the firearms industry. The matte stainless steel surfaces rate excellent with a light turn ring on the cylinder. The black synthetic factory grips rate excellent. The diminutive revolver includes a factory hard case that is correctly labeled and numbered to the gun, soft case with Charter Arms logo, a pair of padlocks with a pair of keys, manual and paperwork. Included in the paperwork is a factory letter from president Nickerson Ecker of Charco, 200 Inc. dba Charter 2000 to Roy Jinks thanking him for his tireless efforts as an ambassador to the American firearms industry as a whole. This revolver retains about 90% plus factory blue with the backstrap starting to thin, light to moderate edge wear, scattered light scratches, a few light dings, turn ring on the recessed cylinder and a tiny impact mark to the side of the front sight. The service trigger and hammer retains bold case-hardened colors with light freckling and operational wear. The un-numbered checkered walnut Magna grips with silver S&W medallion rate near excellent with a few minor handling marks. The pistol includes an unlabeled factory box and a good condition pebble grain rubber Hogue Monogrip that includes the screw and stirrup. A copy of a S&W ledger sheet indicates this gun was shipped to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Virginia on April 23, 1981 and was later acquired by Mr. Jinks at an unknown date. F.B.I.-shipped guns are a singular rarity in any genre of firearms collecting. This revolver features a Baughman ramp front sight and factory micro adjustable black blade rear sight. Three Smith & Wesson disposition records are provided and they indicate this gun was manufactured on January 16, 1991 and shipped to Roy Jinks on January 21, 1991. Smith & Wesson Model 15-4 K-38 Combat Masterpiece Revolver with a Unique Background

serial #K235140, 38 Special, 4" barrel with an excellent bore. This lovely three screw revolver has factory paperwork and markings indicating it was thoroughly refurbished by the factory by replacing most of the major parts to include the frame. The metal surfaces retain about 99% plus factory blue finish. The checkered walnut factory square butt Magna grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent. There are factory rework marks on the frame, cylinder and barrel with rework date of May 1979 plus the cylinder and barrel are numbered to the gun. A factory invoice indicates the gun was received on February 20, 1979, and the barrel, cylinder, frame and lockwork were replaced, test fired, inspected and targeted. Also included is a copy of the factory ledger indicating the original K-38 Combat Masterpiece with this serial number was shipped from the factory on June 6, 1955 to Morris Sporting Goods of Great Falls, Montana. Obviously, something happened to the gun to cause such a major overhaul but the end result is a truly unique Combat Masterpiece that does not appear to have been used since it was refurbished. This revolver includes the original shipping sleeve, factory cardboard box that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun, gray leather covered fitted lockable jewelry case, key for the lock on the case, trigger lock with a pair of keys, manual and paperwork. (The lock on the jewelry case is not functioning). A factory disposition sheet indicates this revolver was shipped to Mr. Roy Jinks on November 27, 2007. Smith & Wesson Model 29-5 Classic Hunter Revolver

serial #BEZ7533, 44 Magnum, 5 3/4" full lug barrel with an excellent bore. This lovely Classic Hunter was used a demonstration gun, most notably at the N.R.A. super clinic in 1993. They were equipped with a 6" barrel although actual measurement of this gun is 5 3/4". The metal surfaces retain about 99% factory blue with a light turn ring on the unfluted cylinder. The .500" target hammer and .400" serrated target trigger retain bold case-hardened colors. The pebble grain rubber Hogue Monogrips rate about excellent with minor handling wear. The service trigger and hammer retain bold case-hardened colors with very light operational wear. The smooth goncalo alves factory target grips with silver S&W medallions rate excellent. This pistol features Novak style Lo-Mount three dot Trijicon Tritium night sights that no longer glow, has no manual safety and a molded-in rail on the front dust cover. It includes a factory hard case that is correctly end labeled and numbered to the gun, a single ten-round factory magazine, a spare small size backstrap, spare large size backstrap, chamber flag, cable lock with a pair of keys, manual and paperwork. The hard case has "ATF" stickers and markings plus a factory disposition sheet show this gun was shipped to the U.S. Department of Justice, Washington D.C., to the attention of Agent Booth on December 11, 2007 with a final disposition through Sports South Inc. of Shreveport Louisiana on October 27, 2008 and presumably the time Mr. Jinks acquired it, but is not stated. The metal surfaces retain about 9...more9% factory blue and anodized finishes. The checkered black synthetic factory grips with S&W logo rate excellent. The right side of the slide has "Roy G. Jinks" in script with a S&W seal below it on the frame with rocker on the bottom of the seal marked "15 YEARS".
