U.S. Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword, named to Capt. Chalmers Scott. A nice Model 1850 U.S. Foot Officer's sword with etched decorated blade featuring ''U.S.'', floral d...moreesigns, eagle with shield, and ''E Pluribus Unum''. No maker markings to the 32'' wide fullered blade. Brass pommel and floral decorated guard, sharkskin covered grip, with triple wire wrapping. Leather scabbard with brass fittings. Upper scabbard fitting is period engraved ''Capt. Chalmers Scott, Nov. 30 1869.'' Overall length is 38''. Capt. Chalmers Scott (1869-1876) was in the California Militia and served as an Engineering officer. He was active in state and local duties throughout California. An information booklet on Capt. Scott and his service records are included. Condition is good overall. Blade has age graying and spotting, but no pitting. Old leather blade washer is intact. Leather scabbard has age crazing and cracks, with one crease, and some losses to the outer most layer of the leather near the edge. Brass fittings have been cleaned in the past few years and are toning down. Est.: $900-$1,500.

Top of barrel marked ''L.W. Pond, Worcester, Mass. Pat'd July 10, 1860''. Condition is very good retaining approx. 40% blue, the balance having toned brown. Several small scratches to top strap. Good grips that retain most of their original varnish with light impressions. Action works intermittently, bore is good. Civil War era holster is good, missing muzzle plug and flap, possibly a field modification, as flap was removed many years ago. A nice Civil War officer's rig. Est.: $700-$900. (Antique)

Mfg'd 1856. Conversion is good to very good having no original finish as gunsmith altered with round barrel, shortened lug, floating firing pin, and solid conversion ring with unusual barrel locking system having screw-tightening arm that swings right to release. Rear sight mounted atop swing-arm. Grips fit well and retain approx. 80% original varnish; last four digits of serial number inked in backstrap channel. Virtually all of the ''Stagecoach Hold-up'' cylinder scene remains, with clear ''Colt's Patent'' and serial number markings. All visible serial numbers match. Crisp action; clean bore with visible lands and grooves. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)

Condition is very good to near fine with all visible matching numbers, except cylinder (2352); wedge is also matching. Dragoon scene to cylinder is 75% visible with one chamber having been repaired. Grips with fractional shrinkage and light sanding over mild impressions. Hammer finds half and full-cock notch crisply. Bore is at least fine. Barrel marked ''Address Col. Colt. / London''. In dusty rose-lined mahogany case features blue two-cavity bullet mold, Dixon bag flask, nipple wrench combination tool, Eley cap tin marked ''Colt's Pt.'', iron wiping rod with ball finial, and some loose cartridges. Lid of case with silver-plated vacant brass plaque for owner's name. All visible matching numbers including wedge. Condition is very good with light general toning and discoloration as flaking to iron barrel and cylinder; scene remains very vivid. Case hardened portion of frame with approx. 80% vivid hues. Front and back strap have toned gray. All safety pins are present at rear portion of cylinder. Grips fit nicely with light scratches, retaining approx. 90% of their original varnish. Good action, fine bore that should clean to fine. Bullet mold retains approx. 30% blue, combo tool and cap tin are fine. Exterior of case with light impressions and mild scratches. Dust check edge in case near front sight with some losses. No key. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (Antique)

Left side of breech marked ''Address / Poultney & Trimble / Baltimore, U.S.A. and Smith's Patent / June 23, 1857''. Smith Carbines were use significantly by the Union, particularly by the 3rd West Va., 7th and 11th Ill., 1st Conn., 7th and 17th Penn., 6th and 9th Ohio, and 1st Mass. Regiments. Many of these Carbines were sold to regiments thru Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York, and are featured in the 1864 catalogs. Condition is fine retaining approx. 85%-90% blue overall, with most of the losses as just simple thinning. Very mild impressions to stock and forend, with one small diameter impression of medium depth to left edge of forend. Action is good, bore is bright. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique)

''U.S. MODEL 1884'' stamped on breechblock and ''P'' firing proof on the underside below the wrist. ''U.S.'' stamp on buttplate. Complete with rammer. Condition overall is very good with over 80% finish remaining on metal surfaces, with discoloration to the breechblock and light browning on the barrel. Stock shows a gouge below the rear sight, otherwise the wood is very good with scattered light handling marks. Breechblock and hammer function smoothly. Bore is very good+ with sharp rifling. Stamped on barrel tang ''U.S.'' and ''PAT.MAR.16.1875''. ''U.S'' stamp on buttplate. ''ESA'' in an oval cartouche on left side of stock at wrist and a ''P'' firing proof on the underside below the wrist. Complete with rammer. Martini style dropping block action with a centrally mounted hammer. Condition overall is very good showing over 80% finish remaining with an old re-blue on the barrel, fading on the triggerguard, and patina across the buttplate. Stock has been lightly sanded and refinished and also shows some recent small chips around the action and barrel, possibly from disassembly that does not match the color of the surrounding wood. Breechblock and hammer function smoothly. Bright bore is excellent with sharp rifling. One of only 143 produced at the Springfield Armory in 1875. Est.: $3,000-$5,000. (Antique)

Originally appears to have been a standard model gov't issue with sub-inspector marks to small parts. Engraving features banknote scrolls and punchdots to frame, cylinder and top barrel flat. Side barrel flats with interlinked chain motif terminating at muzzle with border detail and five-pointed star design. Bottom gripstrap with inscribed initials ''J.R.B'' and stamped ''Dexter''. Condition is near excellent with minor tarnishing to gold finish. Right ivory grip panel features steer and shows some crazing; left panel is smooth and has toned somewhat with some fissures.
