Factory engraved Colt SAA Revolver, SN 317027, accompanied by a copy of a Colt Archives Letter that

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 338)      

Factory engraved Colt SAA Revolver, SN 317027, accompanied by a copy of a Colt Archives Letter that confirms .38-40 caliber, 4 3/4" barrel, blue finish, factory engraved ...morewith grips not listed. Revolver was shipped to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Co., March 9, 1911 in a one gun shipment. The engraving pattern is of the well known Colt factory engraver Cuno Helfricht. The revolver is now in full nickel finish that was likely applied when it was returned to factory as noted by the asterisk on the right rear trigger bow. The serial number matches on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap with the last four digits marked on the back of the cylinder. The factory markings are all clear and sharp with the barrel address having been double struck. The action functions flawlessly and the bore is excellent (factory engraved Colt Revolvers are becoming very difficult to find. (MOD)

This revolver has a beautiful set of one piece ivory grips with a mellow color and just the right amount of age cracking. Bore is very nice with strong factory markings, manufactured 1920. (MOD)

Cattle Brand engraved Colt SAA Revolver, SN 343744, First Generation, .44-40 caliber, 7 1/2" barrel, manufactured 1922, in the caliber that was most popular with cowboys ...morewho also owned Winchesters of the same caliber. This revolver has full coverage engraving by the renowned Texas master engraver David Wade Harris. Revolver is accompanied by a letter from David Harris who is also well known for his cattle brand motif. He combines them with traditional scroll work to create a beautiful and unique Colt. Revolver has nickel plated finish with fire blue screws and accents. NOTE: Great pair of one piece burl walnut grips with sterling Texas Longhorn Steerhead on each grip. All the factory applied markings are crisp and clear, excellent action and very good bore. A Colt that any collector would be proud to own! Notice the brands include XIT, King Ranch Running W, 101, Heart and many other Texas Ranches represented here. (MOD)

Also included in this is an official 5x7 Photo of his retirement party Aug 22, 1968, an 8x10 photograph and two letters dating 1969 where Al Hoxie sent these items to Joe Gish of Fredericksburg, Texas, avid Texas Collector.
