Fabulous Cased Colt 1849 Pocket Model Revolver

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 697)

serial #298860 all matching including wedge, .31 cal., 4'' octagon barrel with a bright minty bore and one-line New York address. This little Colt has lots of condition. The barrel retains 97% original blue with loss being due to some light silvering on the high edges and a few scattered light flakes where the exposed metal shows a wonderful smooth brown patina and with some light impact marks on right side of lug from wedge removal. The cylinder shows 100% of its stagecoach holdup scene and retains about 50% of its original blue with the balance flaked and showing a pleasing smooth brown patina. The frame shows 98% brilliant original color case-hardened finish with only real loss being on the highest edges of the recoil shield. The frame screws show only the lightest slot wear and retain lots of original fire temper blue. The backstrap and triggerguard both retain 99% original silver plated finish which bears a lovely untouched tarnish which appears almost as blue finish. The hammer and loading gate show virtually all of their original color case-hardened finish which has darkened slightly over time and has a lovely appearance. The face of the hammer, face of the recoil shield and nipple recesses show no pitting and this gun shows little if any evidence of being fired. The one-piece walnut grip rates excellent with 99% original vanish and just a couple light handling marks. The revolver comes in its original mahogany casing with faded burgundy baize lining. The condition of case is excellent with 95% original finish remaining and with a small drying crack in the edge of the lid and another crack in the softwood bottom of case. Included in the case is a minty Colt Patent two-cavity bullet mould marked ''31 PKT'' which retains 98% of its original blue along with an excellent eagle flask which retains about 70% of its original lacquer. The original key and a tin of Remington UMC caps are also present. The partitions are all firmly in place and the interior of the case has a wonderful untouched look as does the entire set. An investment quality casd Colt Pocket. (18751-56) {ANTIQUE}

Rare Early Smith and Wesson Model 1899 Military and Police Hand Ejector Revolver

Lot # 5 (Sale Order: 5 of 697)

serial #23, 38 Special, 6 1/2'' barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is the earliest of the first-year production four-screw 1st Models and is in fantastic condition. The metal surfaces retain about 95% original blue with very light thinning on the backstrap with contact point and high edge wear, a few small lightly cleaned areas of oxidized pitting on the cylinder. The service hammer and trigger retain bold to lightly muted case-hardened colors overall with light operational wear and the trigger face worn to pewter. The grips are un-marked mother-of-pearl with gold S&W medallions that rate excellent. As was common on some of the earliest Model 1899's the barrel has no caliber or maker address but the barrel and all other appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun and it still times and locks as good as it did over 100 years ago. Factory records indicate this beautiful K-frame was shipped to M.W. Robinson of New York City, New York on March 31, 1899. A beautiful low number 1st Model that would make a fine addition to any collection. (88840-99) {C&R} [Roy Jinks Collection]

Lovely Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 8 (Sale Order: 8 of 697)

serial #249543, 25 ACP, 2'' barrel with fair bore showing moderate oxidation and evident rifling throughout. This attractive 1920-made pistol retains nearly 98-99% original nickel finish showing some scattered light scratches, a couple minor dings in the serrations on the left side slide, a tiny flake near the muzzle on the left side of the slide and some further minor handling marks. All of the markings including the Rampant Colt on the slide are crisp and clear. The factory mother-of-pearl grips with gold Colt medallions are un-numbered and remain in very good to very good plus condition showing a few tiny dings, scratches and a few thin cracks around the escutcheons. The backs of both grip panels are fitted with small black hard rubber spacers and the slide is matching the frame. Included is one original nickel-plated magazine in excellent condition, vintage cleaning brush and a worn factory box end-labeled for this model but a penciled number on the bottom that appears to read ''390914''. The box is in poor shape showing a number of detached flaps, tears and flaking. A small consignor tag in the box notes the pistol was shipped nickel-plated on April 5, 1920 to the Von Lengerke & Antoinne Company of Chicago but there is no formal documentation provided. Really a superb example for the Colt collector. (138952-29) {C&R}

Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 9 of 697)

serial #25404, 45 ACP, 5'' Colt barrel with a fine bore which is mostly bright with very crisp rifling but with scattered light pitting. The metal surfaces on this handsome auto pistol retain about 97-98% original blue, the loss is due to some very light muzzle wear, sharp edge and contact point wear, the slide showing a number of minute scratches along its top surfaces with a tiny bit of very light surface oxidation around the front sight. The diamond checkered walnut grips rate excellent showing only a few very minor compressions or very lightly chipped points. The arm exhibits a lovely wartime polish and all of the markings are crisp. Included is a nice two tone lanyard loop magazine, the top bright section has toned to a plum patina. Excellent Early Colt Model 1911 Civilian Government Model Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 10 (Sale Order: 10 of 697)

serial #C777, 45 ACP, 5'' barrel with an about good bore which shows evident rifling but with frosting and scattered light pitting its full-length. This is a lovely 1912-made pistol, its three-digit serial number no doubt marking it as the first few months of production. The slide retains perhaps 92-95% original charcoal oven blue, the sharp edges toning to pewter, with scattered very light flaking to plum and the expected light handling marks and small scratches that come from the years. The frame shows a bit more of its lovely original blue, with light high edge wear and pewter toning on the frontstrap, also with sparsely scattered light handling marks. The safety, slide stop and hammer retain strong brilliant niter blue, the trigger fading somewhat along its leading edges but very strong on its rear surfaces, the right side of the magazine release as well shows strong niter blue. All of the markings remain crisp and are of the correct style for a pistol this early. The diamond-checkered walnut grips rate about excellent, the right grip showing a few small dings in the upper diamond, each showing light wear to the points. Included is a nice two-tone lanyard loop keyhole magazine, the blue remaining nice, the upper section drifting to a pewter and plum. The barrel is unmarked but for a single capital letter ''N'' on its underside directly ahead of the barrel lugs, these early barrels merely having inspectors markings, and not the later-seen proof firing marks. There is a reassembly scratch present on the frame which continues up onto the slide, it does not detract from the lovely finish on the balance of the pistol. The original round top, shallow U-notch rear sight is intact as is the thin blade front sight. Really a fabulous example overall of a super early-production civilian government model pistol in a very seldom-encountered state of condition. (38751-28) {C&R}

The extractor and crescent buttplate are a silvery-gray patina and the loading gate retains some vibrant fire blue. The hammer and lever show some smoky remnants of case-hardened colors mostly toned to silvery-gray case-hardened patina with some minor scattered freckling. The plain walnut stocks remain in near excellent condition showing lightly worn finish, a few small dings and handling marks. The rifle is sighted with a Lyman No. 6 folding rear sight that has been slightly modified during the period of use with evidence of a sporting rear sight having once been present, a tall Lyman ivory bead front sight and Lyman tang peep sight. The action seems to function very well mechanically. This is a wonderful antique rifle in near excellent overall condition. (138932-2) {ANTIQUE}
