Hopi Sterling Crow Dancer Micro Inlay Kachina

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 499)

For your bidding pleasure is a Hopi Native American Indian micro inlay Crow Kachina dancer. This is an extremely extravagant and detailed Kachina dancer. This dancer features a highly stylized headdress. White, blue, green and pink fire opals make up feathers along with finely inlaid turquoise, sugalite, malachite, onyx, branch coral, lapis lazuli and spiny oyster gemstones. The face features lapis lazuli eyes and white fire opal. The beak is constructed of sterling silver and blue fire opal. The Kachina dancer is constructed from sterling silver and shows appropriate anatomy. The dancer inlaid sterling bracelets and boots as well. The dancers dress and robe and completely removeable with clasps. He also has two dance sticks with additional mosaic inlay. The back of the robe features a fantastic mosaic inlay featuring stunning blue, pink, purple, white and green fire opal as well as mother of pearl and the same gemstones as on the headdress. The sterling silver base showcases the artists hallmark, a cow skull over “RT” and sterling. It is also titled “Crow Dancer.”

Early Mayan Copper Vessel

Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 10 of 499)

For your consideration is an early Mayan copper vessel container. The Mayan civilization was noted for it’s sophisticated and highly developed writing system in pre-Columbian America's as well as for its art, architecture, mathematics, calendar, and astronomical system. The Maya civilization developed in an area that encompasses southeastern Mexico, all of Guatemala and Belize, and the western portions of Honduras and El Salvador. This region consists of the northern lowlands encompassing the Yucatán Peninsula, and the highlands of the Sierra Madre, running from the Mexican state of Chiapas, across southern Guatemala and onwards into El Salvador, and the southern lowlands of the Pacific littoral plain. Rule was centred on the concept of the "divine king", who acted as a mediator between mortals and the supernatural realm. Kingship was patrilineal, and power would normally pass to the eldest son. A prospective king was also expected to be a successful war leader. Maya politics was dominated by a closed system of patronage, although the exact political make-up of a kingdom varied from city-state to city-state. This early Mayan container features hand carved hieroglyphs as well as varying designs. The container shows a green oxidation which attributes to the early age of the artifact. The base is not fixed to the container. This piece measures 12 ¼” x 7 3/8” x 5 ½”.

Schwinn Black Phantom 100th Anniversary Bicycle

Lot # 10 (Sale Order: 11 of 499)

Included in this lot is a Schwinn Black Phantom 100th Anniversary bicycle. The Schwinn Phantom was truly a classic and anyone who had one was the envy of the neighborhood. The Black Phantom came with the famous Schwinn patented cantilever frame, chrome plated fenders, Schwinn spring fork, Schwinn Cycle-lock, automatic stop and tail light, chrome-trimmed tank, chrome rims, and genuine leather saddle. This Anniversary edition Black Phantom is in MINT condition. It was purchased in 1996 from Bike Country in Des Moines, Iowa and kept by the owner in its box until is was assembled to take pictures. Chrome is immaculate, paint is original and shows no chips or damage of any kind. The white walls on the tires are pristine with no signs of ever seeing pavement. What truly makes these 100th Anniversary bicycles so collectable is the fact that Shwinn only produced 5000 of them and dealers were limited on the amount they could order. Recommended retail price when they came out was $2,999.00. Serial Number: G000996 indicates that this bike was one of the first 1,000 made. Due to Schwinn going bankrupt many of the original casting tools were lost when the idea to reproduce the Black Phantom came about. New pieces needed to be made using the lost wax process. By using this process they were able to accurately reproduce many of the parts to spec. which makes these anniversary edition bicycles as close to the original release as possible. This bicycle will be shipped with the original box. The Black Phantom measures 43" x 72".
