1987 Cadillac Allante
The Allante was Cadillac's answer to luxury convertibles such as the Mercedes-Benz SL and Jaguar XJS. The car was produced in small numbers and was unique in several ways. First, the bodies were designed and manufactured by Pininfarina in Italy, then flown to Detroit for final assembly. The engine power was initially provided by a 4.1-liter aluminum V-8 engine with multi-port fuel injection at 170 hp, mated to a front wheel drive automatic transmission. The mild power ratings set against the Allante's 3,720-pound curb weight, plus the front-wheel-drive configuration and automatic transmission made the car more suited for comfortable highway cruising, rather than for sporty driving. Yet the Allante offered state-of-the-art technology for Cadillac with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, Macpherson strut suspension, a digital dashboard, and a Bose stereo.
The Allante was sold with an aluminum hardtop and cloth folding top on all models. This is a great example of GM forward innovation and a unique car collectors must have.

1987 Dodge Daytona
The original owner purchased this car brand new in 1987 from Zartman Dodge in Lititz, Pa. It began life as a daily drive, but after a few years, it was limited to weekend duty only. This low-mileage Shelby Z is used only for recreational purposes such as car shows. It was on an exhibit at the 2019 Chrysler Nationals Carlisle Events.
This car was loaned to the AACA Hershey Museum's Shelby display in 2015. What makes this Shelby so special??? In 1986, the Daytona Shelby Z was made as a manual transmission turbo car, with a newer, high horsepower engine. The Daytona Shelby Z was made as a manual transmission turbo car with a newer high horsepower engine. The Daytona Shelby Z had to be special ordered to come with an automatic in 1986, making this more of a rare car than the typical Daytona Shelby Z car.
The Dodge Daytona was a front-wheel drive car built from 1984 to 1993. Its name was revived from the company's late 1960s muscle car, which itself was based on the famous 500 mile Nascar race held in Daytona Beach, FL. Right from the start, the Daytona was offered as a performance machine and available in three different levels. Standard, Turbo and Turbo Z were the only trims available in 1987. The car was restyled and the Shelby Z was added to the lineup as was done earlier with the Ford Mustangs. Shelby's long history with former Ford friend, now Chrysler CEO, Lee Iacocca, took existing cars and modified them for increased performance.
The Turbo Z received numerous suspension upgrades including a larger front sway bar and rear disc brakes. The Shelby version was approximately $3,000 more than the base Daytona and 7,152 were built. Even less were built as automatics wearing the Shelby Z name after 1986. Shelby continued his relationship with Dodge producing Daytonas through 1993.
