Colt Single Action Army .45 LC SN: 59999SA

Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 904)      

'Second Generation' Western style single action revolver chambered in .45 Colt, manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1971. Colt ceased production of the SAA at the beginning of WWII with no plans to restart production after the war, but due to the increased popularity of western films they began manufacturing the SAA again (hence the 2nd generation) in 1956. Features a bright nickel plated finish, 4 3/4" barrel with single line address, blade front sight, square notched rear sight, smooth thin trigger, knurled hammer spur, fluted six-shot cylinder, ejector rod with crescent head and two-piece smooth walnut grips. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, cylinder, front strap, back strap and both grip panels. Includes the original factory two piece “Stage Coach” cardboard box with literature and matching cardboard outer sleeve. Revolver retains nearly all of its original bright nickel plated finish with only minor handling marks observed. Action is crisp with four clicks, the bore is pristine and the matching wood grips are fine. Condition is near NRA Perfect in box. ***Modern Firearm***

Pistol retains nearly all of its satin silver finish showing some minor discoloration near the muzzle on the slide, around the barrel address and around the serial number on the frame. The embellishments, serial number suffix, and configuration (with exception to the cylinder & grips) are consistent with the S.A.A.s in the “Winchester-Colt Commemorative Set". It is most likely that this revolver was an overrun of the commemorative set. Features a blued & case hardened finish, 7 1/2" barrel with old style single line address & gold embellishments, blade front sight, square notched rear sight, bulls-eye ring ejector, fluted cylinder with pressed bushing, smooth thin trigger, hammer with polished flats & knurled spur, ‘blackpowder’ frame, gold “Col. Sam Colt” on the backstrap, and two-piece faux-stage grips. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame and cylinder. Revolver retains approximately 97% of its original finish showing light wear and some red residue on the cylinder. Action appears mechanically sound though the hammer spring seems light, lock-up is very good, the bore is very good, and the synthetic grips are very good. Condition is NRA Very Good. Observed serial numbers are #B1879 on the receiver and #B7767 on the bolt.
