1955 Lincoln Capri

Lot # 531 (Sale Order: 37 of 114)

1955 Lincoln Capri Convertible is an extraordinarily beautiful and rare luxury automobile. Just 1,487 of these convertibles were built in 1955, the lowest volume sold of any of the 1950's era Lincolns. It is not surprising that less than 15 of these convertibles are estimated to be surviving today. Weighing slightly more than two tons, the car is powered by a 417 cubic inch, V-8 - 225 horse power engine...which could achieve 60 mph in twelve seconds. Dubbed "the safest car on the road" by Life Magazine in 1955, the car is a remarkable example of America's 1950's dream cars. Held in the private collection of a well known Lincoln collector for at least the past ten years...this car has been well maintained, regularly driven ...otherwise always stored in a climate controlled garage. The car originally came from Jacksonville , Florida pretty much in the outstanding condition that is today, as follows: • Exterior: re-painted its original Lincoln color - Palomino Buff. Interior: matching two-tone leather interior / Palomino Buff and White / front seats all new leather / NOS steering wheel. Top: all weather canvas in cream / off-white • Chrome throughout car is good / stainless sections equally as good. Mechanically sound / everything works, including radio. Options also include dual spot lights and factory fog lights....more

1958 Lincoln Continental Mk III

Lot # 533 (Sale Order: 39 of 114)

1958 Lincoln Continental Mk III 2dr hardtop coupe in beautiful Deauville Yellow with a brown tweed cloth and brown leather factory interior in mint condition. You will say it looks never sat in. The California car has no rust , great paint and flawless chrome. The car weighs in at 4802 pounds , and is the largest unit body car ever built. It has a wheelbase of 131". Even at that the 375 h.p / 430 ci. ohv V8 provides plenty of power. We recently had an "engine out" professional restoration done on the engine bay. Looks like jewelery. The car rides on massive B.F. Goodrich 950x14" , correct , wide white walls from Coker Tire. The Continental Mk III's "breezeway" power roll down rear window makes it distinctive from all other Lincoln models that year. Also , yes , Lincoln did make a Mk III in 1958 , a Mk IV in 1959 , and a Mk V in 1960. Sales were low , the cars complex and prone to rust. As a result when they brought out the next generation Mk in 1969 , it was a Mk III again; These are spectacular land yachts of the 1950s. You can rest assured with our car spending most of it's life in California, rust is not an issue and the fact it still survives proves its road worthiness....more

1948 Nash Ambassador Custom convertible

Lot # 535 (Sale Order: 42 of 114)

Offered here is a very special example of this final production run. Finished in a correct shade of Canterbury Gray with a complete and intact original maroon textured vinyl interior accented by light gray wool and a black canvas top, this 1948 Nash Ambassador Custom Convertible has never been the subject of a restoration due to its excellent preservation and original condition. Last refinished some decades ago and with some more recent chrome and convertible top work, it has been serviced on several occasions to preserve its excellent condition. Recently, the engine was completely overhauled, all new wiring, brakes, a new exhaust system, a new windshield, newer wide whitewall tires and an upgraded original radio were also fitted, while managing to keep the original foot control to change stations. Just this past summer, the radiator was comprehensively re-cored for excellent warm weather touring while the overdrive solenoid, kick-down switch and relay were restored to permit proper operation of this important system. As such, the car runs and drives well around town as well as out on the highway, a unique characteristic of immediate pre- and post-war open cars. A top-flight history accentuates this car's impeccable preservation. It is perhaps the only car so-retained by Nash-Kelvinator when brand-new and was used by the company on the Auto Show circuit during 1948 before being sold at a dealership only 20 miles away from Kenosha in late 1949 to an employee of Nash-Kelvinator. His family sold it in 1998 along with all of its original documentation including the original registration certificate and sales invoice. With just 1,000 of these produced and a low survival rate, this unique car must be seen as a singular example of a historically-important collectible automobile as well as a similarly-unique opportunity to acquire what is quite possibly the best documented Nash Ambassador Convertible extant. ...more
