With contemporary note stating: Found 1850-1890 Nevada desert, came across in a covered wagon found by Great Aunt Anne. Grandmother Elizabeth Acton Wagner had it in her home - died in 1975 - was passed on to me.

Finely woven with flared shoulder and decorated with a nested triangular motif; old tag with manuscript description on one side: Tribe - Piute[sic] Home - Carson City Nevada; Made by Sally Rice, verso with Mr J.L. Johnson, height 4.5 in. x diameter 8 in.

Condition: Reference to a Mrs. Sally Rice Snow ca 1930 can be found at Westminster College Gioval Library: http://content.lib.utah.edu/u?/WC_PhotoCol,178. However, the photograph was taken in Santa Clara, Utah, may not be an image of the weaver. No information was found about the collector.
