Framed "Zero!" Print by Jack Fellows

Lot # 2 (Sale Order: 3 of 78)      

Although credited with over 60 aerial victories, Japan's most famous fighter ace Ensign Saburo Sakai, IJN took greatest pride in never losing a wingman. Completing flight training in 1937, he saw combat in China, the Philippines, and the Southwest Pacific. On 7 August 1942, he was wounded by SBD fire and barely made it back to base. He recovered to train other Japanese pilots and to fight again at Iwo Jima and over Tokyo. Here Sakai is depicted in one of the many Mitsubishi Type Zero carrier fighters, it's markings representative of those if the Tainan Kokutai during much of 1942. Sakai flew these aircraft to great success throughout the Pacific war. Print is double matted and framed, it is 33"x 16" and it is in very good/excellent condition. ...more

Framed "Front Row Seats" Print by Ross Buckland

Lot # 3 (Sale Order: 4 of 78)      

Lt. Robin Olds and his wingman, Lt. Harold F. "Bud" Grenning, roar over beachhead bluffs in a turn back out to sea. Flying air cover in their P-38 Lightning for the Allied Fleet and D-Day invasion force, pilots of the 434th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter Group, were to protect the sea and beaches from Luftwaffe attacks. Flying through the intense exchange of Allied and German ground fire, the pilots passed over waves of landing craft and the deadly chaos of the invasion beaches. They had front row seats to an incredible panorama of destruction. Signed by the artist and numbered, 1000 Limited editions originally sold at $145, double matted and framing cost $160, 27" x 14" size, co-signed by Brig. General Robin Olds, Harold F. John Singleton Mosby the "Gray Ghost," was a Confederate cavalry battalion commander in the American Civil War. His command, the 43rd Battalion, 1st Virginia Cavalry, known as Mosby's Raiders, was noted for its lightning quick raids, partisan or ranger-like tactics and his ability to successfully elude his Union Army pursuers and disappear with his men, blending in with local farmers and townspeople. Nicely framed, double matted, signed, numbered, limited edition art print, limited to only 1,000 prints in the edition. This print has been long ago SOLD OUT, having originaly sold for $125. Framed "Stuka" Print by Robert Taylor (Ju87)

Lot # 7 (Sale Order: 8 of 78)      

The Stuka when dressed for war was an awesome spectacle. Robert Taylor's outstanding painting show's a formation of JU87s bombed up and fitted with long range tanks heading out on a shipping strike over the Mediterranean in 1941. Following its success in the Polish and French 'Blitzkrieg' campaigns, the Stuka was seen by the German High Command as the supreme new weapon to succeed long range artillery. With its banshee-like wailing siren the Stuka pilots would deliver destruction from the skies and create a devastating psychological effect upon all those below. The bomber signatures include: Helmut FICKEL, Franz KIESLICH, Kurt KUHLMEY and Hans-Karl STEPP. General Nathan Bedford Forrest by famed artist Michael Gnatek, Jr. in very good condition nicely matted and framed. Nathan Bedford Forrest was a lieutenant general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He enlisted as a private and was be promoted to general officer and division commander by the end of the war. Although Forrest lacked formal military education, he had a gift for strategy and tactics. He created and established new doctrines for mobile forces, earning the nickname The Wizard of the Saddle. German Luftwaffe I./JG 300 Fw190A "Sturmbock" duels point blank with gunners of the 303rd Bomb Group B-17s on 15 August 1944. In demonstrating the tragedy of the air war over Europe in World War II, this painting shows a Focke Wulf 190 armed with 30mm cannon, face to face with the 50 cal. machine guns of the tail gunner of mortally wounded B-17G 44-6291 of the low squadron of the 8th Air Force 303rd Bomb Group on 15 August 1944. The 303rd Bomb Group lost nine B-17 bombers with nine men in each aircraft in a little under two minutes in this duel at 25,000 feet over Germany. The print is signed by the artist and numbered one of 850 editions The print is 18" x 35" and triple matted and framed. Cutouts in the matte show patches of the 8th Air Force and JG300 and is named to Oberleutnant Klaus Bretschneider (Knights Cross & Gold German Cross recipient). ...more

Fw190 A-7 flown by Major Heinz Bar (pronounced bear) of the 5th Staffel, JG 1 in April 1944. At the end of the war, Bar had 220 victories to his credit. After surviving six years of combat and being shot down more than a dozen times, the likable Bar was killed in an automobile accident after the war.
