Lot # 1 (Sale Order: 1 of 400)
1979 Panama 500 Balboa Golden Jaguar NGC graded as PF69 (Finest Known). This is a very rare gold coin minted at the Franklin mint in 1979. Having a limited final mintage of just over 1600 and a beautiful strike that is rivaled by very few others, this coin has captured the attention of world collectors in spectacular fashion. The fact is, that including this one there are only SIX (6) of these coins in this grade in the world and none in a higher grade. That means that this is one of the rarest coins on earth. With an AGW of 1.205 oz. pure gold the melt value alone is over $2000. The Jaguar that sold on auction was sold in 2005 ( when gold was at $400 an oz.) at a heritage auction and went for around $6,000. At that price the coin sold for about ten times the gold value. Now to put that into perspective with today's standards, the coin would hold a value of over $20,000. Because of the extremely limited population, there isn't an average value for the coin. My question for you is this, What is the value of owning one of the worlds true rarities??
