Custom framed.This is in excellent condition. Claude Oscar Monet was a French impressionist painter who brought the study of the transient effects of natural light to its most refined expression. Monet was born on 1840, in Paris, but he spent most of his childhood in Le Havre. There, in his teens, he studied drawing; he also painted seascapes outside with the French painter Eugene Louis Boudin. By 1859 Monet had committed himself to a career as an artist and began to spend as much time in Paris as possible. During the 1860s he was associated with the preimpressionist painter Edouard Manet, and with other aspiring French painters destined to form the impressionist school Camille Pissarro, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. Working outside, Monet painted simple landscapes and scenes of contemporary middle-class society, and he began to have some success at official exhibitions. As his style developed, however, Monet violated one traditional artistic convention after another in the interest of direct artistic expression. His experiments in rendering outdoor sunlight with a direct, sketchlike application of bright color became more and more daring.

Each still life painting is visually arresting and compelling and reveals a wonderful technical skill at constructing compositions. Melendez conveyed the precise texture of objects in artful compositions of great sophistication. Despite his talent he lived in poverty for most of his life. and in 1772 in a letter to the king he declared that he only owned his pencils. He died in Madrid in 1780.

Louis Icart was born in Toulouse, France. He began drawing at an early age. He was particularly interested in fashion, and became famous for his sketches immediately. He worked for major design studios at a time when fashion was undergoing a radical change-from the fussiness of the late nineteenth century to the simple, clingy lines of the early twentieth century. He was first son of Jean and Elisabeth Icart and was officially named Louis Justin Laurent Icart.Icart fought in World War I. Icart was a successful banker to please the family. It was not until his move to Paris in 1907 that Icart would concentrate on painting, drawing and the production of countless beautiful etchings, which have served to indelibly preserve his name in twentieth century art history. When he returned from the front he made prints from those drawings. The prints, most of which were aquatints and drypoints, showed great skill. Because they were much in demand,These prints are considered rare today, and when they are in mint condition they fetch high prices at auction.Icart has created for us a picture of Paris and New York life in the 1920s and 1930s.

Alice Asmar Hand Embellished Limited Edition The Embrace on canvas. 30 in the edition. Hand signed by the artist. Approx 20x40 inches. Includes certificate of authenticity. This is in mint condition Asmar was born in Flint, Michigan of Lebanese and Greek parents. A prodigy, she began winning awards at age six. At age 10, she appeared in the Oregonian front page with her unusual window painting on parchment of the Madonna, Christ child, and angels. At age 12, her complex historical painting of Cavalcade of America was printed in the Oregon journal. At age 19, she received B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Lewis and Clark college in Portland. She taught French, art and piano at St. Helens Hall. She graduated from university of Washington with a master of fine arts degree. Her thesis was an innovative visual opera, Pelleas and Melisande. Teaching art at Lewis and Clark college. She worked for Boeing aircraft doing top secret engineering drawings in aerodynamics. In early 1960 Asmar traveled to many countries in Europe and the Middle East. Setting up her studio in southern California, she divided her time between teaching, illustrating for Los Angeles Times, engraving for Nambe Mills in New Mexico, creating lithographic editions for publishers in New York. In the 1970s Asmar painted southwestern scenes and ceremonial dances of many... Pueblo, Apache and Navaho Indians. Her lithographs of the Indians are in a permanent collection at the National Museum of American history in the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC. In 1991, Asmar was chosen for a prestigious honorary membership in the National League of American Pen Women, Washington, D.C. Only 3 such honors are given each year in the country.
