Manhattan Pocket Model Revolver.

Lot # 2 (Sale Order: 2 of 832)

Serial # 23 4,800 of these revolvers were manufactured between 1858 and 1862. The number 23 can be found stamped on the loading lever, on the underside of the barrel, on the back of the cylinder, and wedge. Standard features include a 4" octagon barrel, varnished two piece walnut grips, blued finish with case hardened hammer and loading lever, engraving on frame and backstrap are standard to this model. This is considered a series one due to the five shot cylinder and ten cylinder stops (all original nipples). The screws are perfect. Barrel retains approximately 60% of the original high polish factory blue starting to plum. There are some minor abrasions around the wedge on right side. Engraved frame is basically a soft grey. Original grips exhibit most of the original varnish, and the name "Hunt" has been carved into the right panel. Strong rifling. Cylinder is basically a soft brown patina. Single action works fine but a little off time.

Rare J. Walch 10 Shot Dbl Hammer Pocket Revolver.

Lot # 3 (Sale Order: 3 of 832)

Serial # 1772 Approximately 3,300 of these pocket revolvers were manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co. from 1860 to 1862. Oliver Winchester was the president and major stockholder of the company at this time. Features a 3-1/4" octagon barrel and two piece varnished walnut grips. It is a spur trigger single action and has two hammers. It is desirable in that it is unusual and its relation to Winchester. Fine Martially Marked Rogers & Spencer Revolver.

Lot # 4 (Sale Order: 4 of 832)

Serial # 3438 The Rogers & Spencer revolvers were manufactured in 1865 in Willow Dale, New York of which approximately 5,800 were made, 5,000 of which were martially marked. The first 1,500 were delivered to the military in April of 1865 and the balance by September of 1865, none of which have ever been recorded as having been issued, at which time the bulk of the guns were sold to the Francis Bannerman Co. to be subsequently sold to the open market through their mail-order catalog. Standard features include 7-1/2" octagon barrel, six shot, .44 caliber, single action, percussion, with blued finish, case colored hammer and lever, and two piece walnut grips. This example is standard in all respects. It has the military inspector "B" on frame and barrel. Matching serial number found on lever, barrel, frame, and cylinder. The barrel retains approximately 20% original high polish factory blue with balance turning plum. Cylinder has traces of original blue with the majority being a smooth plum finish. Colt Model 1873 S.A.A. U.S. Artillery Revolver.

Lot # 5 (Sale Order: 5 of 832)

Serial # 3622 The frame of this revolver began life in 1874, second year of Colt single action production, as a standard U.S. issue cavalry model revolver that would have left the factory with a 7-1/2" barrel, blue and case colored finish, walnut grips, in caliber .45 long Colt. Around the turn of the century, cavalry Colts were brought to the Armory, disassembled, usable parts were thrown into bins, barrels were shortened to 5-1/2", and the revolvers were rebuilt and then reissued using a term now accepted by collectors as an "Artillery Model". As such these revolvers will have a mixture of numbers on the parts, as well as various inspectors from different eras. This gun is numbered as follows: frame is 3622, trigger guard is 4451 with an Ainsworth "A" inspector mark, the backstrap is 4451, barrel is stamped with a "P" as well as "H.N." for Henry Nettleton, the loading gate is stamped 542, back of cylinder is stamped "R.A.C." for Reynaldo Carr. No cartouche visible on walnut grips. The hammer is a later replacement. Standard features include a bullseye ejector rod head, 5-1/2" barrel, .45 long Colt caliber, single action, standard finish, and walnut grips. Action exhibits all four clicks and timing is perfect. "U.S." is stamped on left side of frame. Has the screw-in cylinder pin release (black powder), and one line Colt address on barrel. Strong near mint bore. Front sight has not been filed. Markings are strong. Screw heads are perfect. There is a small stamp at the upper left grip as follows "EX45". As to finish, the gun is basically an overall brown-grey patina. The grips are slightly shy to metal, but are free of cracks or chips. Overall a nice, clean artillery model used by the U.S. cavalry throughout the Indian Wars and into the Philippines.

Colt S.A.A. Revolver (Antique).

Lot # 6 (Sale Order: 6 of 832)

Serial # 33440 This early revolver was manufactured in 1877. It is a standard revolver that left the factory as a 7-1/2" .45 caliber with blued finish and walnut grips. The barrel has been cut to 5-1/4", front sight has been replaced with a Mexican silver peso. The ejector rod head has been replaced with the second style. Grips are a pair of very old aged ivory with stress cracks and turquoise inlays. Matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. Factory stamps are strong. Gun has no original finish and is now a dark chocolate brown patina. The action is a little loose and does not have the distinctive four clicks. Muzzle is rounded from holster wear with a little pitting. Rifling is fine. An excellent example of a true cowboy gun that has been there and has that Texas-Mexico border look.
