UNITED WE STAND COLLECTION - Liberty Bell .999 SILVER Stamp Ingot – Rare

Lot # 8 (Sale Order: 9 of 158)

This lot is for a beautiful reproduction, UNITED WE STAND COLLECTION - Liberty Bell. 13 cent stamp. .999 Silver Ingot 24 K Gold Layered. The First Day of Issue of the Liberty Bell stamp was on October 31, 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio. This stamp honored one of the greatest symbols of freedom in the United States. On July 4, 1776, delegates to the Second Continental Congress met at the State House (now known as Independence Hall) in Philadelphia and made one of the most momentous and courageous decisions in American history. They adopted the Declaration of Independence that severed links with Britain and established the United States of America. According to legend, the bell at the top of Independence Hall rang out to announce to the people of Philadelphia that the declaration had been signed. The bell was commissioned for the State House and was cast in London, England, in 1752. A large crack appeared soon after it arrived in Philadelphia, so it was recast by local foundry workers. The new bell weighed 2,080 pounds and was 12 feet in diameter, but it also cracked. It was last rung to celebrate George Washington's birthday in 1846. It was known as the Liberty Bell because it is inscribed with the Biblical phrase 'Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land." The Liberty Bell stamp shows the Liberty Bell with its famous crack, together with the inscription that forever links it to liberty and freedom in the United States. This medal was issued by the U.S. Postal Service, and struck from .999 silver for a proof finish. It is 24k gold electroplated. ASW is .40 troy ounces. This is a great reproduction, rare, collectible and highly sought after. Estimated Value $30...more
