Sako Custom Varmint .222 Rem

Lot #26 (Sale Order 26 of 409)

Excellent as per muzzle edges condition - rifle - 24" tapered, heavy barrel - Unusual wood and finish looks somewhat like tiger stripe maple, or similar, that has been stained and oil finished. The wood has a deep reddish brown color and medium gloss hand rubbed oil finish. The stock has a rollover cheek piece, Rosewood stock tip and grip cap, and ebony or similar, inlays. Wood finish appears to be about 100%. - blue, about 99.9% (very slight wear at muzzle corner edges). - Markings: Crisp- "BOFORS STEEL" with Bofors B and arrow symbol proof along right side of bbl. below engravings; "Cal. 222" across top of bbl. at breech & on floor of receiver on magazine. - Sights: Scope mounts are Leupold. The scope is a Leupold 12X with A.O. with large target/varmint windage/elevation adjusting knobs. Rubber scope caps. This scope looks brand new and may be an update. - Custom varmint rifle. Pre 1972, pre Vixen and pre Garcia import L46 (not later L461) short action, with detachable magazine. This engraved beauty looks virtually brand new and is almost too nice to shoot. 24" tapered heavy varmint barrel. Barrel Factory drilled and tapped for scope blocks. The barrel and receiver are deep, relief cut scroll engraved. Receiver engraving coverage is about 100%. The trigger guard and bottom of the detachable magazine is also engraved to match. Although the original owner stated that the engraved rifle or barreled action was Factory special order- Early records do not permit confirmation. For this reason this rife is simply priced as a deluxe custom rifle. Barrel engraving starts just in front of the receiver and extends forward about 7". Stock finish condition about 100%: Rifle is in a newer foam lined plastic hard case. - Yr. Mfg.: pre 1972 - Est. 3000 - 4000 - SN: 43862 - FFL - Jerry Kuhnhausen Collection - 9352

Austrian Schuetzen 7.5 mm

Lot #27 (Sale Order 27 of 409)

Excellent condition - rifle - 29 5/8" tapered, heavy, octagon barrel - This enchanting extra high grade target rifle, is quoted by the consignor as "recovered in Germany at the end of WWII by a US Army Air Corps. advance air base recovery team officer. Year of manufacture is unknown but most likely pre 1900." Ornate relief engraving on the custom made Peabody/Martini style receiver shows elaborate scuzziest scenes. Elaborate action engraving coverage is about 90% plus. Engraving on the barrel, action lever and butt plate are scroll and leaf pattern. Tarnished German silver inlays on the barrel are well executed and include an inlaid cherub surrounded by inlaid leaf and scrollwork, inlaid barrel band just ahead of the receiver, and the original owners name inlaid in ornate German script. The 7.5 mm caliber marking stamped on the underside of the heavy tapered octagon barrel most likely refers to bore (lands) diameter. Rifling grooves appear to be about .003" deep. Chamber casting dimensions indicate that the cartridge used in this rifle was somewhat like a .32-40 and, in that the chamber has the approx. same case rim recess size, cartridge cases can be easily formed from .30-30 Win. brass. The bore is excellent, shiny, and with sharp rifling. The leade area just ahead of the chamber, although defined, has a satin appearance, probably from corrosive chlorate priming. The top of the barrel and sight ramp are Zee pattern matted. The upper/side flat on the right side of the barrel is stamped Guss-Stahl, and the corresponding surface on the other side is stamped Prima. The original deep rust blue on the octagonal barrel is about 99% intact. The only detractors being slight thinning at the corner edges and a few minor superficial nicks/scratches and beginning rust spots. The one of a kind upper receiver and bolt are generally patterned after the Martini/Peabody design, but everything else, including the balance of the action mechanism, double set trigger mechanism and the very ornate under lever (this entire assembly is detachable from the action) is pure custom design. The receiver, detachable action/lever assy., and Schuetzen butt plate are ornately relief engraved and case hardened. The spot buffed, color case hardening on the receiver and lower action is in about 98% condition, with slight finger wear and a sprinkling of light beginning pitting on the under lever being the only detractors. Front sight: ramp type with adjustable thin blade. The front sight base is color case hardened. The detachable, Creedmoor type adjustable rear sight with the rifle is probably a later replacement. The fancy Schuetzen style stock is of an involved design with an ornate cheek piece, checkering, and some carving detail. Stock wood is medium tone, possibly French walnut with a nice grain structure. Oil or varnish stock finish condition is about 98% plus. - Yr. Mfg.: - Est. 7500 - 8500 - SN: 21649 - Antq. - Jerry Kuhnhausen Collection - 9369

Springfield Armory M1 Garand .30-06

Lot #147 (Sale Order 147 of 409)

Excellent+ as re-worked condition - rifle - 24" rnd, commercial barrel - "as-new" walnut stock and handguards with very nice grain; Fastened with sling swivels, stacker hook, & steel trapdoor butt plate; about 99%+ - about 98%+ as re-Parkerized with most loss due to thinning on gas cylinder at bayonet lug, which has not been re-Parkerized - Markings: Crisp & legible M1 Springfield Armory receiver markings - Sights: Front shielded blade; Rear knob adjustable diopter - "as-new", as refurbished, U.S. military rifle with Springfield Armory receiver bolt, op rod, and trigger group. New commercial barrel. A U.S.G.I. take-off barrel can be used for retrofit, if desired. Gl web sling included. This beautiful rifle looks un-issued. Note: Although this rifle has not been examined in detail, it's possible that the receiver may be a "circa 1950s reweld". However, the usual identifier (receiver rear half displacement) is not evident. Note: If this actually is an M1 reweld , it must be said that it looks better than any seen to date. If so, it would serve as an excellent example of U.S. firearms industry activity in the early 1950s, when M1 Garand rifles were not available to the public and, therefore, a historical curiosity that should be preserved. A great item for Garand collectors who want everything. - Yr. Mfg.: 1942 - Est. 900 - 1200 - SN: 800126 - C&R - Jerry Kuhnhausen Collection - 9475
