Generally excellent, very faint hairline at back neck socket. Marks: dep Elite D 1. Max Handwerck, circa 1915, rarer open mouth variation of the soldier googly with decorated helmet.

The lady is wearing original vibrant red and black Spanish costume with felt floral bouquet, hair comb, veil with black pom-poms, red felt shoes. Excellent condition. Circa 1930s.

6.5" (17 cm.) The three-piece all-bisque nodder, with "nodding" jointing at hat and neck, has egg-shaped head with googly-painted eyes, triangle-shaped nose, painted mouth and brows, with attached black "fur" bisque hat and attached uniform body with black boots, rifle, and posed on original green bisque base with artist signature"Hassall". Generally excellent. The early 20th century designer created a series of three-part nodders with either ball or egg-shaped heads. Attributed to Shafer & Vater, Germany, early 20th century.

The doll is wearing its original costume of tweed pants, vest, plaid shirt, jacket, shoes, and red cap with black leather brim and original label "Wiener Dienstmann", carrying little package of letters. A Dienstmann was a term traditionally applied to a hired man who performed odd jobs such as courier which this chap appears to do. Circa 1930.

Solid domed paper mache swivel head on paper mache shoulder plate, black enamel eyes which open and close from wire lever at back torso, painted curly tendrils of hair, closed mouth, twill torso with bellows "mama" crier, twill upper arms and legs, paper mache lower torso, hands and feet, wooden lower arms and legs, original gown and bonnet included. The loosely-jointed limb baby was designed to simulate an infant child, and was inspired by the Japanese play doll first shown in Europe at the 1855 International Exposition in London; examples with the wire lever eyes are very rare. Excellent original condition overall. Germany, circa 1855.

11" (28 cm.) -16". Each is all cloth with painted or lithographed facial features, painted or yarn hair, and original costumes. The "Official Goodie Cole Doll" has her original paper label indicating that she was produced in 1938 for the 300th anniversary of the Hampton Beach, New Hampshire town; she had been accused and convicted of witchcraft in 1656, and in 1938, in connection with the celebration was restored to citizenship by a meeting of that town hall. The five dolls are in very good to excellent condition, the largest with few light spots. American, 1910-1940.
