Original WWII Period Belgium Fourragere Citation Award to the 82nd Airborne/508th PIR Lot #157 (Sale Order 167 of 211) Hand written citation from the Belgium Minister of Defense awarding the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment the Order of the Day of the Belgian Army and citing the regiment twice and authorizing the wearing of the Fourragere. With the original signature Leon Mundeleer who was the National Defense Minster for Belgium from Feb. 12, 1945 to Jan. 9, 1946. The document has faded and has been archive framed with matte. A very rare award document to a highly decorated US parachute regiment. Measures outside frame to outside frame 22 1/2 inches by 24 inches.

WWII 57th Fighter Group Pilots Lucky Little Bell of San Michele Lot #181 (Sale Order 192 of 211) Bell has 800 silver content stamping. Moving clapper. Engraved on one side is San Michele Bell and on the other Capri 1944. "The Lucky Little Bell of San Michele" were made by monks of the Isle of Capri during 1943-44 and military servicemen purchased these while visiting Capri for much needed R&R. Pilots and crewmen wore these bells as their favorite good luck charm on their lapel or as a zipper pull. It is probable that this charm flew over WW2 combat and came back with the crew member safe and sound. Fantastic piece of history!

WWII USAAF Cased Distinguished Flying Cross - Named/KIA Lot #189 (Sale Order 200 of 211) Named to SSgt Giles Bissel. On Sept 4 1945 B-29 #44-61786 assigned to the 462nd Bomb Group. Pilot Major Bernays K. Thurston flew into the ocean after taking off at night and possibly blinded by the lights at the end of the runway. As a result of this accident no more B-29s were permitted to take off at night. The plane was in route the Mather Field CA for approximately 5 day TDY and for the purpose of transporting organizational supplies. Also on board were 8 AAF crewmen who were "going home". Among these was SSGT Giles Bissel.

Third Army patch on right shoulder. Bullion embroidered rank and collar insignia. Matching pin back DI's for the 629th TD Bn. Each are Sterling hallmarked by A.H. Dondero. 4 place ribbon bar - Purple Heart, Bronze Star, ETO with silver battle star. Outer shell is in excellent condition. Sateen lining with Frankfurt - Maine tailor tag. The 629th landed on Omaha Beach on July 2, 1944. Fought in the Falaise Pocket also participated in Hurtgen Forest and Siegfried Line. Crossed the Remagen bridgehead and participated in operations against the Ruhr Pocket. At one time this Bn. was attached to the 82nd AB division.
