"(American San Francisco CA 1869-1937) Wooded landscape oil on board signed 'Bertha Stringer Lee' LR. Fine landscape by this noted & well documented artist. SIZE: 11 1/2" x 10 1/2"overall 14" x 13". Housed in primitive old pine frame. CONDITION: Very good although would benefit from a clean. Frame shows wear.BIO: Stringer, an early California landscape impressionist painter & socialite became well regarded by her peers & art associations. She had no financial need to sell her art, but many pieces were exhibited throughout the U.S. at exhibitions & museums. Alas many works were destroyed in the 1906 S.F. earthquake, so it is good to see one of her paintings come up for auction as they have increased in value over the years.
