Schildkrot celluloid shoulderhead with sculpted brown curly hair and brown glass inserted eyes, split has reglue along lower shoulder head at back to side cheek. Cork body hides clockwork mechanism, attached key is outside clothes. Original painted wooden pin jointed limbs and metal hands. A later version of the "Ondine" swimming doll made 1878. Blue gingham and pink swimsuit with lace trim, matching swim cap and mohair wig, still functions well and a treasure for clockwork toy collectors.

Smiling open closed rose red mouth has peak accents and darker shaped center line, elite soft blush, divine blue spiral threaded paperweight eyes, angled lashes, upper dark eyeliner, multi feathered brows, pink accented eye corners and nostrils, pierced ears, head is attached to bisque shoulderplate with original spiral spring and wing type nut. While she has no pate and a replaced mohair wig she is on the very rare kid leather gusset knee / hip jointed body with rare wood fully jointed arms and individual carved fingers with original paintwork, leather repair at knees and back of leg seam partly open, amazing body as only made from 18731876. More amazing is her original flower embroidered lace dress with rows of silk ruffles over cream silk long gown, faux pearl necklace, original undergarments, long socks. Very beautiful dress, pictured in Bru Book revised edition pg 26, and rare body on this early Bru.

Lot 100. Luxurious musical Gustav Vichy Automaton "Elegant Lady at her Piano" c1878. Quality bisque Jumeau Poupee head, incised 3, 15" (38cm) seated at her piano on wood stool. Pale blue glass paperweight inserted eyes with darker outer, fine angled lashes and long delicate feathered brows, closed mouth with peak accents, pierced ears with round ormolu earrings. Original ash blonde upswept mohair wig over cork pate. When key wound, she daintily plays the piano, flitting her long composition fingers across and up and down the ivory/ebony piano keys in a realistic manner, turning her head side to side and also dramatically up and down as though in time to the music, and now and then pausing for effect, while music plays. This quality rare automaton is indicated by it’s materials such as fine exotic rosewood inlay of the piano, ornamented with elaborate gilt decorative ormolu on each end and three candle holders on either side of 35cm piano. Original tune music box working perfectly. Her original flowers with central candle on the top of piano are in a non removable detailed ormolu basket. Wearing an elegant grey silk gown with maroon trim and back bow, over original under garments, long socks, leather shoes resting on gold piano pedals. She has a purpose built quality glass case with curved top and extended key so it can be operated from outside case, black wood base 48cm x 51.5cm x 56cm high. She is amazing and a feature in any collection.
