African American Artist Beauford Delaney Oil on Canvas Dated 1946 Lot #330 (Sale Order 31 of 65) Large portrait of personal friend Jeff Stewart, oil on canvas, dated 1946 by respected and well known listed African American artist Beauford Delaney, he was known for his abstract and realistic portraits. This un-cataloged work is a portrait of known antique dealer-show promoter, Jeff Stewart. Oil on canvas measures 42" tall x 35" wide. Signed lower right corner, has had small restored area, about 2" x 2" on suit jacket as evidenced by patch on back. Investment Quality.

Confederate J.A.Yount Civil War Ambrotype, Letter, Bible Lot Lot #332 (Sale Order 33 of 65) Important and Rare Identified Confederate Ambrotype, bible and 2 Civil War letters. J. A. Yount served with the company F, 38th N. C. Regiment CSA. This fantastic grouping contains 2 original CW letters dated at Camp near Petersburg, Va., Nov. 1, 1864 and Jan. 21st, 1865. One letter has detailed battle info, camp life and atmospheric period retoric signed by J. A. Yount. Also within this hard to find grouping is the bible that J. A Yount carried through the Civil War, it states on front flyleaf "Presented to J. A. Yount", 1861. On back of front board is pencil notation "Carried by Capt. J. A Yount, during the war between the states". A clean and bright ambrotype of J. A. Yount as sergeant, with hand painted gold buttons on his frock jacket and 3 sergeant stripes on his left sleeve complete this grouping. This fine lot comes with the 1903 original U. D. C. application for his daughter detailing his military career. Condition is very good with some fading of inks, image is very good and the bible has some binding issues but appears intact.

Yount, dated Oct. 2nd, 1911 accompanies a large collection of UDC paper to include, bound minutes of N. C. State Meetings, 1911 annual convention booklet, held at Winston Salem, NC. A Cor. Secretary ribbon badge for North Carolina division, envelopes and stationary, and compiled collection of writings concerning the war between the states. Condition is very good with some light foxing or soiling of paper, paper bindings on minute books have some wear from use.

Haines Brothers Player Baby Grand Piano Lot #353 (Sale Order 55 of 65) Haines Brothers, "The Ampico" player baby grand piano. Mahogany case with brass casters on legs. Case measures 54" wide X 64" long X 39" tall. Haines Brothers was established in New York in 1851. They ceased operations in 1945. Well known for their quality of instrumentation and sound. These ornately carved chairs feature a carved open pierced back splat below a carved serpentine crest. Chairs have acanthus carved cabriole legs ending in claw & ball feet. They retain their original dark finish. Found in good condition with arm chair needing some repair. Chairs measure 39" tall with a seat width of 22 1/2".
