Confederate J.A.Yount Civil War Ambrotype, Letter, Bible Lot Lot #332 (Sale Order 33 of 65) Important and Rare Identified Confederate Ambrotype, bible and 2 Civil War letters. J. A. Yount served with the company F, 38th N. C. Regiment CSA. This fantastic grouping contains 2 original CW letters dated at Camp near Petersburg, Va., Nov. 1, 1864 and Jan. 21st, 1865. One letter has detailed battle info, camp life and atmospheric period retoric signed by J. A. Yount. Also within this hard to find grouping is the bible that J. A Yount carried through the Civil War, it states on front flyleaf "Presented to J. A. Yount", 1861. On back of front board is pencil notation "Carried by Capt. J. A Yount, during the war between the states". A clean and bright ambrotype of J. A. Yount as sergeant, with hand painted gold buttons on his frock jacket and 3 sergeant stripes on his left sleeve complete this grouping. This fine lot comes with the 1903 original U. D. C. application for his daughter detailing his military career. Condition is very good with some fading of inks, image is very good and the bible has some binding issues but appears intact.

Secretary ribbon badge for North Carolina division, envelopes and stationary, and compiled collection of writings concerning the war between the states. Condition is very good with some light foxing or soiling of paper, paper bindings on minute books have some wear from use.
