WELCOME TO THE AUCTION Lot #1 (Sale Order 1 of 489) Just to Reiterate from our terms and conditions: I do my best to estimate the grade/condition of the coins, but please note, unless specifically mentioned in the description, I do not guarantee grade or condition. I DO ALWAYS GUARANTEE 100% AUTHENTICITY, on an immediate buyback including any premium paid. No refunds will be issued. Please understand this and look at the large pictures and make your own decision on the grade/condition. I do my best to give you my best estimate and your repeat attendance at my auctions is what I strive for, so I always attempt to give my best description/estimate of the coins being auctioned.

Semi Key Date 1871 Indian Head 1c Grades f+ (fc) Lot #44 (Sale Order 53 of 489) Semi Key Date 1871 Indian Head 1c Grades f+. Quoting PCGS :"The 1871 Indian Cent is one of the lowest mintage issues of the series. In fact, from 1859 - 1876 it is the lowest mintage coin in the Indian Cent series. What's even worse is that during the early 1870's the Mint was melting a lot of previously issued cents, including many 1871 cents. Making the coin become scarcer. A semi key date to the series with possibly about 5,000 examples in existence in all grades combined."

*** Auction Highlight *** Key Date to the Whole Series 1877 Indian cent 1c (fc) Lot #92 (Sale Order 118 of 489) *** Auction Highlight *** Key Date to the Whole Series 1877 Indian cent 1c. The Key Date to the whole Indian Cent Series. According to Jaime Hernandez from PCGS, ‘The 1877 Indian Cent is unquestionably the most desirable coin in the entire circulation strike Indian Cent series. It is the second lowest mintage coin in the series, and only the 1909-S Indian cent has a lower mintage. Despite the 1877 Indian cent having the second lowest mintage in the series, it also survives in much smaller numbers than the 1909-S Indian cent. This is mainly due to the lack of coins being collected in 1877 compared to 1909. There is only one reverse die confirmed as striking all existing 1877 Indian cents. However, if there was only one reverse die employed to strike all (877,000)1877 Indian cents, then this lone die should have sustained major planchet flaws when striking such a large mintage. Surprisingly, this is not the case since 1877 cents show no traces of a damaged die. Therefore, it is strongly believed that the mintage of 877,000 coins struck, is actually a highly inflated figure.

Fabulous obverse toning. Blast white reverse. Superior luster. Graded by PCGS in their 1st year of grading. In their first year of grading PCGS holdered their coins in a smaller holder dubbed the "rattler" as that is the sound they made when you shook them. In their first year PCGS under graded most coins in order to establish themselves and gain a reputation. Most of these coins have since been "cracked" out and sent in for regrading, where a substantial amount garner a 1-2 point higher grade. These "rattler" coins trade at a significant premium, generally closer to one grade above the one marked. Easily an ms64, possibly Gem. A great PQ example.

Reverse wear will first be noted on the strand of wool resting on the kneeling spinner’s thigh. Due to die wear, raised or sharp definition of the strand of wool is not the norm. Ultra Rare 1864 L on Ribbon Indian Head 1c Grades vg Lot #195 (Sale Order 263 of 489) Ultra Rare 1864 L on Ribbon Indian Head 1c Grades vg. Very scarce 1864 L on ribbon Indian cent variety. According to David Hall, “The 1864-L is scarce in circulated grades and very scarce in mint state. However, its price has as much to do with its popularity and importance to collectors as it does with its scarcity. All 1864-L Indian cents have a pointed bust on Ms. Liberty, while the no L’s have a rounded bust. So sometimes low grades are designated (correctly) as L’s even if you can't really see the L.

1966 Special Mint Set 40% Silver Half Dollar Lot #325 (Sale Order 440 of 489) In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the US was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced that beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced, Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set. Special Mint Set coins were not proofs, and were not uncirculated, Mint State pieces. Dies for the coins were over polished, while the planchet themselves were not polished. The resulting SMS coins have a brilliant, proof like appearance, much nicer than the run-of-the-mill circulation coins. In 1965 these sets were released in the Traditional Mint Cellophane and White Envelope and in 1966 and 1967 they were packaged in hard, pale blue plastic holders. Note, the set contains a 40% Half Dollar.

1967 Special Mint Set 40% Silver Half Dollar Lot #349 (Sale Order 469 of 489) In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the US was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced that beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced. Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set.
