Neolithic Period Chinese Jade Bi Disc W/Chilongs Neolithic Period Chinese Jade Bi Disc W/Chilongs

Neolithic Period Chinese Jade Bi Disc W/Chilongs

Lot #17 (Sale Order 28 of 116)

Neolithic Period Chinese Jade Bi Disc Decorated W/Chilong Motifs - This is an ancient Chinese jade Bi (disc), believed to be from the Neolithic period. These discs can be dated back to at least 5000 BC, were placed in tombs on the bodies of Chinese aristocrats. Their original function and the way that they were made still eludes scientists, considering they were carved out of Jade, an extremely hard rock, at a time where metal tools did not exist. They appear to have been very important to the Chinese culture, as they have been found laid on the bodies of the dead in almost all important tombs of the Hongshan culture (3800 _ 2700 BC), and carried on into the Liangzhu culture (3000 _ 2000 BC). The disc is decorated on both sides with Chilong designs, on side in high relief and one side incised. The disc is in stunning, museum quality condition. Measures 11" in diameter x 0.75" thick. (Approx. 9000 cts.)

Qing Vietnamese Bleu de Hue Porcelain Bowl

Lot #40 (Sale Order 56 of 116)

Qing Period Vietnamese Bleu de Hue Porcelain Qilin & Five Claw Dragon 7.5" Bowl- This piece is a Vietnamese bleu de hue porcelain bowl. Most "Bleu de Hue" porcelain was ordered by the Vietnamese court by way of diplomatic missions to China, and most was produced in Jingdezhen with special designs and marks. This very high quality porcelain was ordered from China for the court use. Although Chinese artisans executed the painting, Vietnamese rulers dictated the designs. Each ruler ordered ceramics of his own liking for use in his court, as well as presentation pieces to give to members of royal families and mandarin officials. This piece is elaborately decorated in cobalt blue underglaze, and depicts a qilin and dragon, chasing the flaming pearl. The dragons have five claws, which suggests that the piece was made for an emperor or someone of nobility. The dragon is grasping a flaming pearl, which is associated with spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, power, or immortality. The Qilin is a good omen, and is also thought to occasion prosperity or serenity. The bowl bears a single character mark on the bottom of the piece. Measures: 7.5" diameter x 4.5"H. Please note: the bowl has been repaired, please see photos.

Royal Neolithic Sectional Turquoise Bi Disc Royal Neolithic Sectional Turquoise Bi Disc

Royal Neolithic Sectional Turquoise Bi Disc

Lot #65 (Sale Order 84 of 116)

Neolithic Period Four-Piece Sectional Turquoise Bi Disc - This is an ancient Chinese jade Bi (disc), believed to be from the Neolithic period. They were used as a status or religious symbol and researchers guess their meaning had to do with the sun or the afterlife. This piece is ultra rare, as bi discs were usually made of jade, and were one solid piece. The disc is in stunning, museum quality condition. Measures 12" in diameter (when put together) x 0.25" thick.

Han, Tang, Song, Ming, & Qing Dynasty Royal Coins Han, Tang, Song, Ming, & Qing Dynasty Royal Coins

Han, Tang, Song, Ming, & Qing Dynasty Royal Coins

Lot #76 (Sale Order 98 of 116)

Unsearched Han, Tang, Song, Ming, & Qing Dynasty Royal Family Coin Collection - This lot is a huge, unsearched lot of ancient Chinese coins, from the Han, Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. These coins come from a private, royal family collection, and have been passed down through the generations of their family for over 80 years. Chinese people started using coins as currency in around 1,200 BC, where instead of trading small farming implements and knives, they would melt them down into small round objects and then turn them back into knives and farm implements when needed. Around 206 BC, copper coins replaced the melted down tools. At the time they were of a very low value and often had holes in the middle so that they could be strung together to create larger denominations. This is truly a modern day treasure hunt.

(From Palace) Pair of Antique Hand Carved Solid Black Jade Fu Lion Temple Garden Statues - This is a pair of beautiful, hand carved black jade fu lion temple garden statues. Statues of these guardian lions have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy, from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits. Because of the high cost of these materials and the labor required to produce them, private use of guardian lions was traditionally reserved for wealthy or elite families. Indeed, a traditional symbol of a family's wealth or social status was the placement of guardian lions in front of the family home. 27ctw VS1-VS2 Fancy Yellow Diamond & 18K Necklace 27ctw VS1-VS2 Fancy Yellow Diamond & 18K Necklace

27ctw VS1-VS2 Fancy Yellow Diamond & 18K Necklace

Lot #93 (Sale Order 115 of 116)

27.00ctw Genuine VS1-VS2/Fancy Yellow Emerald & Princess-Cut Diamond & Solid 18K Yellow Gold Necklace (Comes W/$370,000 Appraisal) - This stunning piece is made of solid 18K yellow gold, and has approximately 27.00ctw genuine VS1-VS2 Natural Fancy Yellow, Emerald-Cut and Princess-Cut diamonds. The diamonds range in size from 1.05ct-0.90ct each, and are all stunning and matching quality. This piece came from the Nguyen Estate, and was a custom made piece that has never been worn. The piece is in flawless, mint condition. Similar to other fancy colors, Fancy Yellow diamonds (also referred to as Canary Diamonds) acquire their color due to the presence of trace elements in their atomic structure. In the case of yellow diamonds, this element is nitrogen, which when bonded to the carbon atoms that make up all diamonds, presents a vibrant yellow color. The more nitrogen is present, the more saturated with yellow color the diamond will be. The amount of color saturation is measured on the intensity scale, and each one of these diamonds is VERY intense, making it the highest investment quality. Intense fancy yellow diamonds such as these sell for hundreds of thousand of dollars per 5 carats. This necklace would cost over $370,000 in material cost (wholesale only) to create again, that would not even cover the cost of the jeweler's work. This piece was made for a family of nobility, and was created during a time when the best yellow diamonds where discovered. This truly is a museum quality piece, and you will never see another piece like this. Measures: 16" in length x 5mm. Weighs: 25 Grams. Please note: This item will come with a $370,000 appraisal for insurance purposes. We can also facilitate safe, and insured shipping at the buyer's expense.
